Religion Title: The Truth About Hell (If true, is it "fair"? Why won't all souls enter The Kingdom of Heaven?) John MacArthur is one of America's most respected Bible scholars and one of the best teachers of Scripture and Biblical doctrine. Unlike most clergy who fear alienating their audience with the subject of Hell and Judgment, regarded as "too negative" and "too judgmental," John MacArthur fully tackles and explains the subject of Hell in great detail, without compromise. If there is Eternal "Hell," does that mean Eternal Heaven doesn't exist either? Why one without the other? Why either? And is either "earned"? Does the "sentence" really fit the crime"? Is Hell temporary and "remedial"? Does "Hell" seem like "excessive punishment"? (John MacArthur explains.) "Sheol" is also discussed. As an "interim" place discussed by scripture in a state roughly described as a realm between Heaven and Hell, is it possible that its occupants given Second-Chance counseling and teachings by "Angels" or "Saints" for amending the consequences of their past life before "learning their lesson"?; Thus moving forward toward their Final (Heavenly) Destination? Also discussed: Theories and hopes by others for a far more tolerant criteria and concept of Afterlife and Hell that are deemed to be more "fair" instead of the place of unimaginable torment and dread in a place as "Hell." Poster Comment: Spectacular sermon and presentation. Please stay with it -- there's a bunch unpacked. Well worth listening to every minute -- whether a believer or un-believer. Grace To You is John MacArthur's church; At their website his sermons can be accessed via podcast, or at YouTube, where his many sermons and teaching can also be accessed. His communications skills and knowledge are amongst the best. John MacArthur has released a Study Bible, which has been priceless in helping more clearly and concisely explain every chapter and verse of Scripture. I am grateful and blessed to have had a good friend who sent me one as a gift. In gradeschool, I used to tie the nuns in knots just by asking "If I eat a hamburger on Friday, why do I get the same punishment Hitler got for killing 6 million Jews?" The worst was a lame reply like "We don't know Hitler is in Hell, honey; he might have repented and been forgiven near the end of his life."
#5. To: Hank Rearden (#3) I've always assumed it's because some people are just assholes. Heh...but frankly, haven't we all been on occasion? (That's actually part of the point.) In gradeschool, I used to tie the nuns in knots just by asking "If I eat a hamburger on Friday, why do I get the same punishment Hitler got for killing 6 million Jews?" Hilarious. And yeah, great, sensible question. Nuns reply was actually technically correct, but highly improbable. Their biggest mistake was in not ever fully clarifying and explaining EITHER subject -- of "Meat/Friday" or the Hitler issue. That was always a big prob with RCC. Even as kids we could sense the hypocrisy and inability to back up their Authority. I also used to ask my mother questions like that regarding to whole Meat-on-Friday RCC Rule. After we'd just eaten meatballs during one Friday, it suddenly occurred to us that we broke the Friday "Meat" rule. Mom: "Don't worry, it's on my record (tab)." Not eating on Friday is just one more religious rite invented by man that has NOTHING to do with Salvation. The RCC, tragically, has always confused and alienated countless millions with man-made confusion and "rules" about Salvation; This while dismissing THE entire reason for Jesus sacrifice on the Cross. No wonder many who attended the church just gave up on God. John MacArthur on the other hand is feeding us a Truth in great detail that many have never heard in their lives. Hell for eternity exists. As does Heaven. He backs up the proof NOT by on own opinion or religious "tradition," but by the actual Word of God.
