Watching The Cops Title: Australian woman shot dead by US police Ms Damond, also known as Justine Ruszczyk, was killed in Minneapolis about 11.30pm local time on Saturday after two officers responded to a report of a possible assault. The 40-year-old, who was originally from Sydney, was a trained veterinarian who worked as a spiritual healer and meditation teacher. She was engaged to marry her 50-year-old partner Don Damond in August. Australian woman, Justine Domand, was a trained veterinarian who worked as a spiritual healer and meditation teacher. Ms Damond ran her meditation workshops at the Lake Harriet Spiritual Community, which paid tribut in a Facebook post. "We are so sad to report the tragic shooting of Justine Damond," the community's post said. "Justine was one of the most loving people you would ever meet. We can't even imagine LHSC without her." Neighbours and friends are demanding answers as to why the popular woman was shot by police. Minneapolis mayor Betsy Hodges wants to know why the officers' body cameras were off. "I am heartsick and deeply disturbed by what happened," she posted on Facebook. "I have been working on behalf of all of you all night and all day and I will continue to do so. "I share your questions and concerns and continue to seek answers." The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call of a possible assault just north of the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South. "At one point an officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman," it said in a statement. "The officers' body cameras were not turned on at the time and the squad camera did not capture the incident. "Investigators are attempting to determine whether any video of the incident exists." Neighbours are now demanding answers, leaving a sign out asking police "why did you shoot and kill our neighbor and friend?" Source: Twitter Ms Damond's personal website says she trained as a veterinarian and practised yoga and meditation for 17 years. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it's providing consular support to the family of an Australian woman killed in the US. A vigil for Ms Damond is planned for 6pm Sunday in Fulton, near the scene of the shooting. To: sneakypete, Anthem, cranky (#1) Funny how those cameras are always "turned off",ain't it? That happens far too often. From the article it says that she ...was shot dead after reporting an alley way assault to police. I'll bet the cops will claim that they "feared for their lives". That line always works as justification for killing an innocent citizen. Wonder if BLM will join the vigil - oh wait. To: Deckard, sneakypete, Anthem, cranky (#2) Funny how those cameras are always "turned off",ain't it? You have to turn them on. This is on top of getting info and not getting killed by some pyscho. Not to mention not getting in a wreck while driving there. Maybe the dispatcher needs to remind them to turn on cameras when they are giving out the info on what is going on. They may need to make it mandatory or even automatic switch when leaving the vehicle. Im not sure about the car camera. I know one thing they are sure being quiet about it. Like always I will wait till I hear all or most of the facts to make my mind up.
#4. To: Anthem (#0) just another death in a gun mad society, I hope those "police" officers get everything that is coming to them. What is it like to live in a society where you can't trust the police to ask questions and shoot later if necessasry
#5. To: paraclete (#4) What is it like to live in a society where you can't trust the police to ask questions and shoot later if necessasry Let's not get carried away, here. Yeah, there ARE too many police shootings of innocent and unarmed citizens, but there are 10's of thousands of police/citizen events every day that end with no violence on anyone's part. The biggest area where the police fail is the SOB's tend to ALWAYS cover for another cop,no matter what he or she does. A cop could set fire to a nursery, and the other cops would try to make excuses for him. Some thing are just inexcusable, and the people responsible for doing them needs to be punished to the fullest extent possible, regardless of who they are. In the long run, this "cop covering for cop" thing ends up hurting them a lot more than it does protecting them. In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments. #6. Maybe they should be required to pass a "walk and chew gum" test. Here's what I see emerging from this story: This department has some training issues that need to be corrected. 1) It should be automatic for an officer to turn on the bodycam when he steps out of the vehicle. 2) The vehicle cams should be checked before leaving the parking lot, as the rest of the vehicle operation equipment should be. #10. To: Anthem (#7) Maybe they should be required to pass a "walk and chew gum" test. As long as the govenrment is focused on the WOD's they will never find enough police that can "Walk and Chew Gum". Government needs warm bodies to fill the gaps. Police are ask to do too much by the government. Who really cares if someone is wearing a seatbelt? Cut the numbers get better candidates and they can be paid fairly. Lets face it. Crappy area's get super majority of the police calls. Police are even called out for lose dogs. Whats he going to do cuddle with the dog? Police are the catchall for local governments. This starts with the citizens who vote for idiots to rule their world. Government can not do it all.
#11. To: Justified (#3) They didn't turn cameras on purposely. That makes them guilty. Execute them and make an example of them. That way other little piggy's will know to turn on their cameras or they could be put to death.

Read my other post above this one to see where I stand.
#13. To: A Pole (#9) Nope. Those words are not using it as a prefix. There is no "sensus", "gregate", or "vene" (yes, there is a genial). Con has several meanings. The one I was using is the opposite of "pro". con 1 (kOn) adv. In opposition or disagreement; against: debated the issue pro and con. n. 1. An argument or opinion against something. 2. One who holds an opposing opinion or view.
#14. To: Justified (#12) I don't want officers harmed. If they Dont turn on their cameras it is because they are corrupt. Or unqualified. A woman is dead and they did it. They could have had evidence but they didn't want any evidence. Or they would have turned their cameras on.
#15. To: Justified (#10) (Edited) This incident has nothing to do with wod. Or any of your other silly claim is
#16. To: A K A Stone (#14) If they Dont turn on their cameras it is because they are corrupt. Sometimes people forget. I say make it an automatic switch. Leave the vehicle the camera turns on. Cops have enough other crap to deal with. Cops are like soldiers. 90% boredom and 10% shear terror. Will accept its more 70/30 for cops.
#17. To: A K A Stone (#15) This incident has nothing to do with wod. Or any of your other silly claim is You did not understand my post. Reread. Its because of the WOD's and govenrment demanding cops do everything that there are not enough qualified candidates so what do people do. The compromise and take any warm body to fill the slot.

#22. To: paraclete (#21) (Edited) I am truly shocked the clan has not been here in force, circling the wagons, telling us all sorts of reasons that this woman was a degenerate, and deserved what she got. I read on another site that the officer was a Somali, fairly new officer ( new hero ). Wonder if that has anything to do with what happened, and why story not getting much exposure ? To: Stoner (#22) I read on another site that the officer was a Somali, Apparently he is unwilling to make a statement about what happened and without bodycam there is little evidence anyone did anything. The driver was an inexperienced cop and this low life had strikes against him for bad behaviour. This is another case of the cop-god complex

To: Deckard (#24) What do you mean you called it. Why else would he discharge his weapon? Especially right in front of his partner face? Do you think cops just run around and do drive-by-shootings? What a silly question! They pared to rookies together and they were not able to handle the stress. This is Minnesota so what do you expect. These are left wing ding bats pushing diversity numbers over qualified candidates.
#26. To: Deckard (#24) We still have not heard a good reason why she was shot. Not even a good BS reason ( where is the clan? ). Maybe, since the cop is Somali, and the woman was white, maybe the Somali was conducting jihad ? Si vis pacem, para bellum

To: Deckard (#27) From what I gathered he put the gun right in front of the other officer and shot her. So many questions and facts are not being provided. Why was she out there? Why did he fear for his life and shot without knowing who was there. This shooting will get swept under because it's ptb's special people. Two rookies together is a bad idea!
#31. To: Stoner (#26) We still have not heard a good reason why she was shot. She was shot because she was standing where a bullet was traveling.
