#6. To: redleghunter (#1) However it is either going to be Gallardo or Holland. Now is the time of year where match ups are very important and I would play them to the hilt. Since Gallardo had such good success against the Jays I would start him in Game 1 and Holland in game 2... Now if they win at least one of the games in Toronto (preferably both) I think I just might take the chance on running Gonzalez out there in game 3. Especially if they won the 1st game and lost the 2nd, if it is the other way around then it's a tossup as to who I would start. Normally I would say Hamels but the Jays have had good success against him so I might be tempted to go elsewhere... And yes I think I would use 13 pitchers... Vegetarians eat vegetables. Beware of humanitarians!
#10. To: CZ82 (#6) (Edited) Rangers roster prediction for ALDS: Start the Martin Perez- Colby Lewis debate Edit: Grant is advocating 11 pitchers total. Even suggesting due to the turf up there drop pitchers to 10 total. That's madness. On another note...I noticed the Dallas Stars fans filling the stadium seats yesterday. I was not there but the camera pans of the fans showed a few red and blue painted goalie masks:)
#20. To: redleghunter (#10) And the reason I would think they are considering carrying Napoli is they want him to hit against Price... I'm not so sure these stats are a good reason to carry him... http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/28444/mike-napoli And the one subject I haven't heard raised yet is what do you do with Joey considering most of the Jays staff is RHed??? Heck why not only go with 4 pitchers and take along the stove, BBQ grille, kitchen sink and the bathtub!!!
#21. To: CZ82, tomder55, liberator (#20) Heck why not only go with 4 pitchers and take along the stove, BBQ grille, kitchen sink and the bathtub!!! Lol. Oh Nap is going to be on the roster. So Josh Donaldson...Mediocre player for a few years then viola! All Star. Wonder how the testing is going these days.
#22. To: redleghunter, CZ62, Liberator (#21) Matt Harvey was MIA @ Mets mandatory practice today . When he finally contacted the team he told them he was stuck in traffic . They asked David Wright about it ,and he did not sound pleased.

#25. To: All (#23) Yanks line up for tonight . B. Gardner, CF C. Young, LF C. Beltran, RF A. Rodriguez, DH B. McCann, C C. Headley, 3B G. Bird, 1B R. Refsnyder, 2B D. Gregorius, SS M. Tanaka, SP The puzzlement is the lead off. Ellsbury is sitting . I don't mind Young playing against a lefty . But Ellsbury has had a couple hits against Keuchel in his career . Gardner none. To me the key is for Tanaka and McCann to keep Jose Altuve and George Springer from having an impact in the game . Gardy and Young have to get on base and give Beltran ,AROID and McCann people to drive in . Tanaka has to keep it close for half a game and then hand it off to Wilson ,Betances, and, Miller . The Yanks have a slugger's chance. Looking forward to the Pirates -Cubs game tomorrow . We in the NY area get screwed again with the TV schedule . NLDS Mets v Dodgers 1st game starts 9:45 PM ET. Guess I'm missing that one.
#35. To: tomder55, CZ82, liberator (#25) Everything I warned you and Giradi about the Yankees did:) Doesn't Girardi come here to LF to get advice? It worked for Banister this year...LOL.
#43. To: redleghunter (#35) Doesn't Girardi come here to LF to get advice? Don't you dare give him this site address... :)
#48. To: CZ82 (#43) (Edited) Tried to embed a video from Bleacher Report. Seems to have disappeared. Will try later.
#51. To: redleghunter (#48) When it first started out I figured they were gonna blow off the Rangers totally, although they did try pretty hard. They weren't totally stupid cause they did bring up Gallardo (a RHer) and his record against the Jays. But they blew off the LHers which I think is a mistake, and ignored the other RHers for the Rangers. Which means they don't think anybody can shut down the Jays when the opposite is true... Now when it came to the Astros/Royals they seemed to understand if you keep the ball in the park against Houston you can beat them fairly easily...
#52. To: CZ82, tomder55, liberator (#51) The WC needs to be a best of 3.
#56. To: redleghunter (#52) The WC needs to be a best of 3. Why? Would you rather be watching baseball instead of football while eating Thanksgiving turkey??? :)
#59. To: CZ82 (#56) There's that. But one game elimination for a team who battled series after series?
#60. To: redleghunter (#59) Is it because the teams that lost had "ever so slightly" better records than the team that won?? This only means they had one or 2 bad breaks less than the teams they lost to...
#63. To: CZ82, tomder55 (#60) So.... Will be at work for both Rangers games this week. What the heck, 2:45 CT start time and a before noon first pitch tomorrow! Do Canadians go to work at 9am and get off by 11am?
#65. To: redleghunter CZ83 (#63) What you have to do is sneak a transistor radio into work. That's what I did in 1969 .My teacher never caught me.
#67. To: tomder55 (#65) I guess I could stream the game. That's an idea.
#68. To: redleghunter (#67) tried looking for a free site . couldn't find one . but while you are waiting you can watch Ted Cruz destroy the clown from the Sierra Club. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl9-tY1oZNw
#70. To: tomder55, CZ82, liberator (#68) Have MLB Gameday up on my computer at work. Have a PowerPoint briefing ready to pull up if the boss comes by:) LOL.... 2-0 Rangers mid third. DeSheilds RBI single Beltre RBI single Trainers were working on Beltre between innings. Did not seem to deter his bat:) That turf is probably tearing him up.
#71. To: tomder55, CZ82, liberator (#70) Bad news. Beltre taken out of the game. Alberto now playing third and batting third.
#91. To: redleghunter (#71) Bad news. Beltre taken out of the game. Alberto now playing third and batting third. Too bad Joey isn't on the roster this would be a good place for him since the next 3 games should be against RHers...
#93. To: CZ82 (#91) Got home in time to see last two outs. 5-3 final. Awesome. Beltre's MRI showed no structural damage. Good news. A nice massage and heat wrap tonight should have him back.
Replies to Comment # 93. RHP Marcus Stroman, who returned from a torn left knee ligament to go 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA in four September starts, starts for the Blue Jays on Friday. Texas starts LHP Cole Hamels, who is 7-1 with a 3.66 ERA in 12 starts with the Rangers. Texas has won each of the past 10 games started by Hamels. On tap for todays game... No info yet on yesterdays injuries status for today. I expect Beltre to miss today at a minimum and maybe Thursday, I know when I have a back issue it takes about 3 days for it to clear up and about 5-6 days before I can run. With the resources he has possibly shorter recovery time, he took a cortisone injection last night, MRI came back negative. On top of that they flew in Joey and Lucas from Arizona fall league just in case, if one of them are used then Beltre would also have to miss the ALCS if they advance... As far as Bautista and Donaldson goes I would expect them both to be back. But with "possible" concussion they might hold Donaldson out as a precautionary measure. Hopefully the Jays don't know my "secret remedy" for hamstring ailments and Bautista misses another game... :) Seriously though I expect him to be massaged and wrapped up tight and play todays game...
