#100. To: A K A Stone, CZ82 (#94)
#102. To: redleghunter (#100) Did you go through some of those links to other articles? Well I did and found out that Dyson was signed by the Blue Jays and came up through their farm system. He had health concerns a few years back and lost him through waivers, and now is coming back to haunt them...
#106. To: CZ82 (#102) Did you go through some of those links to other articles? Yes I should have linked more. Dyson did well again. D, D, O and D came up big in the 6-4 win. Of course Napolitano clutch. Alberto with the big RBI single. BP 7 scoreless innings. 9 Ks
#111. To: redleghunter (#106) BP 7 scoreless innings. 9 Ks No way that would have happened earlier in the year, 7 innings would have yielded at least 10 runs... Long game both BPs got a workout Rangers used 6 pitchers and Jays used 8. Key to Game 3 might be which starter lasts the longest before the call goes out to the pen... I would really love to know what was said between Kela and Donaldson in the 13th??? Good to see he has an attitude like Rougies... :) Game 3 starter is still to be Perez as far as I know so here is his stats against the Jays, not really much to go on... espn.go.com/mlb/player/ba...h/_/id/31098/martin-perez
#113. To: CZ82 (#111) And we face the knuckleballer. Two of Hamilton's HRs this year happened in one game against a knuckle ball throwing right hander. Forgot who? Think on the Twins.
#119. To: redleghunter (#113) Well that took a hit last night they lost the game and their SS with a broke leg, wonder how this will affect them mentally it is a young team??? I would say not much at all they bombed the Dodgers last night... If Banny keeps throwing LHers at the Jays that doesn't stand a chance of happening, going against the matchups works once in awhile but the percentages for success aren't good...
#121. To: CZ82 (#119) Cards out and Cubbies advance. Mets down by 2 going to the 9th. Rangers-Jays rematch of game 2.
#123. To: redleghunter, CZ82 (#121) Could be a highway series in Texas. Hope not.
#143. To: redleghunter, CZ82 (#123) Could be a highway series in Texas.
#144. To: SOSO, CZ82, liberator, tomder55, GarySpFc (#143) Looks like Gary's Royals advance. Hope they sweep the BlueRoids. Let's Go Mets:) Tough task against Grenke.
#145. To: redleghunterSOSO, CZ82, liberator, GarySpFc (#144) Guessing no one told the Jays that it's not a good idea to sell beer in cans . The Yanks charge $8-10 for a soft plastic bottle of beer . Then they take the top off so it can't be used as a projectile . At that price no one is going to waste a drop anyway. Had it been Posada or McCann behind the plate when Bautista did the bat flip and pose before rounding the bases after his home run there would've been a brawl at home plate when he crossed it .
#146. To: tomder55, redleghunter, SOSO, CZ82, liberator, GarySpFc (#145) Guessing no one told the Jays that it's not a good idea to sell beer in cans . What do they serve in your ballpark, sour grapes? Would love to see a Mets-Toronto series.
#148. To: SOSO (#146) Would love to see a Mets-Toronto series. The Royals are going to disappoint you.
#153. To: GarySpFC (#148)
Of course, KC always has (except when the Broncos are involved, then I am not disappointed).
#154. To: SOSO, CZ82, liberator, tomder55, GarySpFc (#153) Way to go Meties! 3-2 win. I forgive you for all those heartbreaking years as a kid eating those lousy hot dogs at Shea stadium:) Not to mention all the years my dad yelled at the TV:)
#156. To: redleghunter, CZ82, liberator, GarySpFc (#154)
They predicted in the 'Back to the Future' movies that the Cubbies would win the 2015 World Series. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/13902322/back-future-screenwriter-bob-gale- discusses-prediction-cubs-2015-world-series-champions?sf14229328=1
#163. To: tomder55, GarySpFc, CZ82, liberator. (#156) They predicted in the 'Back to the Future' movies that the Cubbies would win the 2015 World Series. Wow. That would be something. Still waiting for my flying car and hoverboard:)
#167. To: redleghunter, GarySpFc, CZ82, liberator. (#163) gotta love those bottom of the 7th rallies !
#168. To: tomder55 (#167) Yes sir. Watching it. We love it when the Jays are losing:) Then Meties on next.
#169. To: redleghunter (#168) 1st inning ... the Cubbies 'Murphy curse ' continues .
#171. To: tomder55 (#169) Mets up 3-1.
#172. To: redleghunter (#171) (Edited) wonder if Harvey will make it through the 7th . good time for a double play........or a K
#173. To: tomder55 (#172) LOL Joe Maddon looks ridiculous in that winter pom pom knit cap. With the scruff beard and those VA issue heavy black rimmed glasses, he looks like some Flushing Queens bum who just rolled out of an OTB to catch the game in the upper decks.
#176. To: redleghunter (#173) LOL Joe Maddon looks ridiculous in that winter pom pom knit cap. you would think a team from Chi-town would be used to it . Yesterday was a typical autumn day . I was outside a good part of the day in a short sleeve shirt digging up my harvest of sweet potatoes.
#177. To: tomder55 (#176) Mets up in the 8th. Murphy again.
#178. To: redleghunter (#177) Mets up in the 8th. Murphy again. Yank fans are calling sports radio and saying that if the Mets don't want to sign Murphy next year that there is an opening on the Yanks. Not sure about that . Murphy looks like he is one of those post-season phenoms that comes out of nowhere and just as quickly disappear. Experts who follow the Mets are saying that there is alot of his game that's deficient.
But the Mets fans are calling in fretting about the team possibly not signing Murphy and Cespedes next year . They should just enjoy the moment and worry about next year in November .
#179. To: tomder55 (#178) But the Mets fans are calling in fretting about the team possibly not signing Murphy and Cespedes next year . They should just enjoy the moment and worry about next year in November . I agree.
#180. To: tomder55, CZ82, GarySpFc, liberator (#179) 11-8 Toronto win last night. I really thought the Royals were going to come back to win that one. Pitching matchup should be geared for a lower scoring game tonight.
#181. To: redleghunter, CZ82, GarySpFc, liberator (#180) Not sure about that... Dickie is beatable(11-11, 3.91) . Young is a flyball pitcher . The Rogers Centre gives up a lot of home runs. Good thing the Royals BP is well rested .
#183. To: tomder55, CZ82, liberator, GarySpFc (#181) Great job KC way to beat down the Jays. One more and the Canucks are eliminated.
#185. To: redleghunter (#183) Pitching wise the Royals have the match ups if the starters can go 6 innings cause the BP is deep and shutdown capable, which was in evidence last night. I would have to say Royals in 5 maybe 6... Looks like the matchups are working ehhh... :)
#189. To: CZ82, tomder55, liberator (#185) Looks like the matchups are working ehhh... :) Yes I know Banister is watching this closely. If not he should watch and learn from Yost. Unless you have a shut down rotation like the young Mets, you need to go with the match ups. Wonder if the Rogers stadium concessions will still serve beer cans today?
#190. To: redleghunter (#189) (Edited) Yes I know Banister is watching this closely. If not he should watch and learn from Yost. All I can say is I hope he learned from that mistake, if not then next year will be disappointing too... And learn to trust some of the younger players more, some of the veterans stunk in that series...
#191. To: CZ82, tomder55, liberator (#190) Mets up 6-0.
#192. To: redleghunter, CZ62, Liberator (#191) wow Murphy did it again !!
#194. To: tomder55 (#192) Yeah he's a beast in this post season. His FA stock went up quite a bit.
#195. To: redleghunter, tomder55 (#194) His FA stock went up quite a bit. That is if you're willing to pay him big bucks just because he had a 1 month hot streak, he's already at 8M per year. His stats during the season are about the same as they have always been...
#201. To: CZ82 (#195) His stock is up to at least be considered by the Mets for a qualifying offer. If he refuses they get a draft pick and he platoons around the NL like David Murphy in the AL.
#202. To: redleghunter (#201) stock is up to at least be considered by the Mets for a qualifying offer. If he refuses they get a draft pick and he platoons around the NL like David Murphy in the AL. The Mets may have other reasons for getting rid of him besides his performance on the field . He made what are considered controversial comments about the homosexual lifestyle (ie he expressed his Christian beliefs ) . http://deadspin.com/daniel-murphy-disagrees-with-the-gay-lifestyle-1689309224
http://www.cbn.com/tv/1679381918001 Shortly after his comments he announced that he would no longer talk about his beliefs . Many think the Mets pressured him . http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/did-mets-silence-daniel-murphy/
#204. To: tomder55, GarySpFc, CZ82, liberator. (#202) Congratulations KC Royals. AL Champions!
Now facing the Mets in the WS. Two "good guy" teams made it. Nice to see. No Cardinals or Giants this year:)
#206. To: redleghunter (#204) Congratulations KC Royals. AL Champions! Royals have more playoff experience but the Mets have a better pitching staff... Should make for some interesting games if the Mets can "hold their water"...
#207. To: CZ82 (#206) Royals have more playoff experience but the Mets have a better pitching staff... Should make for some interesting games if the Mets can "hold their water"... If you go position by position some teams have better talent than the Royals. Toronto is but one example. However, what the Royals lack in talent is more than by their play as a team.
#208. To: GarySpFC, redleghunter, tomder55, Liberator, SOSO, AKA Stone, All, *Baseball* (#207) Ok now that the World Series is starting tonight does anybody have any predictions as to who is going to win and in how many games??? I think it's safe to say Gary is going with the Royals, in what 6 or 7 games? I'm going with the Mets in 6, think their pitching will get the job done...
Replies to Comment # 208. I'll take the Mets in 7 . I respect the Royals too much to go less. The thing the Mets have to realize is that the Royals do have success against hard throwing pitchers. The Mets pitchers on the other hand have done an excellent job with their seconday pitches when their fastball has not worked . The Mets power will be negated somewhat at Kauffman Field ,and the Royals have much better middle relievers . Having Colon and Neisse in the bull pen improves their depth somewhat . But ,Mets fans will be holding their breath in the middle innings if their starters can't go deep. The Mets IMHO have a big advantage on the bench ,especially if Juan Uribe is a go. They have been playing interchangable parts since the trade deadline. Position by position they are dead even with the Royals having slight advantages in some positions ( 3rd ,1st ,short ,and CF (and DH ) .The Mets have the edge at 2B ,and the 2 corner OF positions .Catchers are even. I'll give the Royals a slight advantage at manager because Yost took them to game 7 last year. As you said ;the Mets starters are the deciding factor . It's been a while since I've seen a 1-4 as solid. Matts would be a number 1 pitcher on many teams. Dare I say that with a full season they have the potential to be as good as the 1971 Orioles ? ( Jim Palmer,Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar , Pat Dobson all 20 game winners in 1970) . It's scary to think how good they will be when Wheeler comes back next year.
#210. To: CZ82 (#208) Mets in 6.
#224. To: CZ82, GarySpFC, redleghunter, tomder55, Liberator, SOSO, AKA Stone, All (#208) Ok now that the World Series is starting tonight does anybody have any predictions as to who is going to win and in how many games??? As much as I would like to see the Mets take it I don't think that it will go seven games. KC's pitching is very good and deep.
