The Water Cooler Title: Tea Party Co-Founder Expresses Support For Occupy Wall Street One of the original founders of the Tea Party movement has told RT.com that he believes Occupy Wall Street is not only comparable to the earliest states of the movement he helped launch but can learn from its mistakes. “The problem with protests and the political process is that it is very easy, no matter how big the protest is, for the politicians to simply wait until the people go home,” financial blogger Karl Denninger observed. “And then they can ignore you.” “Well, Occupy Wall Street was a little different,” he continued. “And back in 2008, I wrote that when we will actually see change is when the people come, they set up camp, and they refuse to go home. That appears to be happening now.” Denninger has been complaining for some time that the Tea Party was hijacked by the Republican establishment and used to protect the very prople it had originally opposed. A year ago, he wrote, “Tea Party my ass. This was nothing other than the Republican Party stealing the anger of a population that was fed up with the Republican Party’s own theft of their tax money at gunpoint to bail out the robbers of Wall Street and fraudulently redirecting it back toward electing the very people who stole all the ****ing money!” Now he advises Occupy Wall Street, “Don’t let it happen.” “One of the things that the Occupy movement seems to have going for it is it has not turned around and issued a set of formal demands,” he explains. “This is a good thing, not a bad thing. Everyone is looking for a set of demands. The problem is that as soon as you pipe up with a list of four or five things — and you’ve got to keep it simple and short — then somebody’s going to say, ‘Well, we gave you 70 percent of it, now go home.’ And the fact is, that’s exactly the sort of thing that happened with the Tea Party.” “Stay on message, which is that the corruption is not a singular event,” Denninger urged. “You can’t focus in one place. You have to get the money out of politics, which is very difficult to do, but at the same time you can’t silence people’s voice.” Subscribe to *99 Percenters On Parade* Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest “Well, Occupy Wall Street was a little different,” he continued. “And back in 2008, I wrote that when we will actually see change is when the people come, they set up camp, and they refuse to go home. When the people are afraid, that's when the greatest long term money is made.~~~~Clark Howard #2. #3. To: Thunderbird (#2) Never heard of Karl Denninger before..its a good thing we have Russian television to tell us who our leaders are. I guess the Russian's know how to utilize internet search engines much better than you. Here you go. Read and learn: Karl Denninger is the former CEO of MCSNet in Chicago, one of the area's first Internet providers. He is most notably, however, a founding contributer to conservative blog market-ticker.org and is one of the early members of the Tea Party movement ("I cannot take credit for the idea floated on the forum, but I do like it.").[1]. Rick Santelli's CNBC mention of a tea party[citation needed] followed Mr. Denninger's Blog entry on January 20th. On January 20, 2009 Denninger published an article regarding the suggestion to mail tea bags to the white house and to congress. The title of his post was "Tea Party February 1st?," and it was written in direct response to President Obama's inauguration occurring on the same day, even though he openly voted for Obama. The article took issue with the bailouts, the US national debt and "the fraud and abuse in our banking and financial system" which included the predatory lending practices currently at the center of the home mortgage foreclosure crisis.[2] Karl Denninger, who helped form FedUpUSA in the wake of the March 2008 Federal Reserve bail out of Bear Sterns, has been a guest on MSNBC, Glenn Beck and CNBC Reports.[3][4] By February 1, the idea had spread among various conservative and libertarian-oriented blogs, forums, websites and through a viral email campaign.[5] On Oct 20, 2010, he blogged that Republicans had hijacked the Tea Party movement, and perverted its original goals to the standard Republican concerns of "guns, gays and God."[6]. Denninger stated on RT that he supports the Occupy Wall Street movement.[7] Never swear "allegiance" to anything other than the 'right to change your mind'! #4. To: Brian S (#5) Just what part of this article is 'Russian disinformation' and why would they even bother? The part about Karl Denniger being any kind of leader in the TP movement which is the premise of the entire story isn't it?
#11. To: Skip Intro (#6) Tbird is another one who sees commies under his bed. You do know that the authors of the story..RT.. is Russian propaganda television don't you Skippy? ..or have you eaten too many paint chips?
#12. To: Thunderbird (#11) You do know that the authors of the story..RT.. is Russian propaganda television don't you Skippy? There plenty of interviews and videos where Karl claims that the premise is accurate. If it's false you should easily be able to come up with a statement from Karl stating that or even one from Ron Paul. When the people are afraid, that's when the greatest long term money is made.~~~~Clark Howard #13. To: Brian S (#0) Karl Denninger WHO?? LOL... “Obama learned his lesson well. I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.” ~ Letter from L. DAVID ALINSKY, son of Neo-Marxist author of 'Rules for Radicals', Saul Alinsky #14. To: Thunderbird, Brian S (#10) Just what part of this article is 'Russian disinformation' and why would they even bother? Hilarious. “Obama learned his lesson well. To: mininggold (#12) There plenty of interviews and videos where Karl claims that the premise is accurate. What premise..that he's a leader of the TP movement? Lolz..
#16. To: Thunderbird (#15) What premise..that he's a leader of the TP movement? He said he helped create it and it was then hijacked. When the people are afraid, that's when the greatest long term money is made.~~~~Clark Howard Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest |
