Review: Buckminster Fuller Helped Inspire Our Future Post Date: 2022-12-09 16:32:52 by Charles_Byrd

For decades, Buckminster Fuller maintained a reputation as a visionary innovator transforming our approach to everything from auto design to architecture to geometry. He was profiled in Time as early as 1932, and was its cover star in 1964 even before blossoming as a counterculture hero in the late 1960s, with help from fellow multidisciplinary visionary Stewart Brand and his Whole Earth Catalog. Fuller became a generation-gap-bridging icon of technology as a means to goals both pragmatic and transcendent. Fuller always had doubters as well as acolytes; rarely did his design or building ideas work out as he hoped, either as objects or as revolutions in cars or housing (or ...

Good news Update!! I have pictures but am having trouble uploading them. I'll post later. I saw Jim today and he looked wonderful!!! We talked and he was very aware of what was happening around him. He wanted to go home today but they are keeping him another night. John and Chris will get help with his care from the VA. Oh how, I wish everyone were able to see him today. Because of Covid, procedures to get in were very strict. WE were de-contaminated both going and coming. Because of my "age", I had to wear extra protection. You won't recognize me but I swear it is me. LOL Oh Happy Day!!!

Hello everyone. I talked to Jim again. He needs us to pray for a more positive attitude. I hate to post this, but he started crying. He told me he loved me and I was also his family. He tried to joke about Schiff, but his heart wasnt in it. He asked me to Thank everyone for the prayes and to let you know he loves all of you. He feels he has let everyone down. I asked why; he told me that FReepers have always supported him and he got sick and cant be there for all of you. I told him he needs to get well and get his a$$ back to work. Not sure when he will get to come home because he needs around the clock care. He said he cannot raise his arms. Wish this was a more ...

Cody was a dog that we got for my daughter for her birthday. He lived from about January 2010 until 10-25-2021. He will be missed by family and friends, and especially my daughter who loved him. He was a dog that was always loyal. I will miss seeing him sitting on the back porch. He was a blue heeler.

ts a news website run out of a house in Bloomington, Indiana, by a secretive internet whiz who had a bit part in the classic Middle America movie Breaking Away. A mention of Citizen Free Press often brings a shrug even in news-hungry Washington. But overnight, the site that calls itself an alternative to the once-conservative Drudge Report has shot past competitors and is now poised to dominate the right-leaning media space. "It's fantastic. I love it. I'm breaking every rule in the modern digital news business with no social media, no Facebook, no branding, no email, and the site is succeeding beyond my wildest dreams, said the one-man operator who goes by ...

Elite Failure Has Brought Americans to the Edge of an Existential Crisis The nuclear family, God, and national pride are a holy trinity of the American identity. What would happen if a generation gave up on all three? In 1998, The Wall Street Journal and NBC News asked several hundred young Americans to name their most important values. Work ethic led the waynaturally. After that, large majorities picked patriotism, religion, and having children.Twenty-one years later, the same pollsters asked the same questions of todays 18-to-38-year-oldsmembers of the Millennial and Z generations. The results, published last week in The Wall Street Journal, showed a major value shift ...
Unable to find a buyer, Think Progress shuts down Post Date: 2019-09-06 17:32:16 by Tooconservative

Think Progress is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker. It is bereft of life. The Daily Beast reports the good news: The outlet, which served as an editorially independent project of the Democratic Party think tank Center for American Progress, will stop current operations on Friday and be converted into a site where CAP scholars can post. Top officials at CAP had been searching for a buyer to take over ThinkProgress, which has run deficits for years, and according to sources there were potentially three serious buyers in the mix recently. But in a statement to staff, Navin Nayak, the executive director of the Center for American Progress Action ...

A Michigan man was recently given a surprisingly light prison sentence after being found guilty of repeatedly spiking his wifes coffee with high doses of sleeping pills. Therese Kozlowski filed for divorce from her husband, Brian, in June of 2018 but continued living in the same house. In fact, he even made coffee for her every day, which he used as an opportunity to feed her dangerous doses of diphenhydramine, an antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies and insomnia. Of course, Therese only found out after becoming suspicious and installing hidden cameras all over their house to see what Brian was up to. Shocking footage shows the man breaking up several tablets and dumping them ...
1957-1959 Plymouth Fury - Best Plymouth Ever? Post Date: 2019-06-16 15:52:25 by Liberator

The 1957-1959 Plymouth Fury was one of the most legendary cars that Plymouth produced. It Fury introduced America to low, wide, and long automobile styling which would become the cornerstone of American cars during the 1960s decade.
Poster Comment:Style-wise, Plymouth was way ahead of Chevy and Ford in 1957. "Suddenly It's 1960!" was Plymouth's advertising ad slogan. The lower, wider profile and epic tail fins must have seemed futuristic and alien (in a good way.) The '57 Chevy style (though considered "classic" now) at the time was boxy, stodgy, pedestrian and stone-age in comparison to the '57 Plymouth Fury. My aunt owned a loaded '58 Dodge with ...

Poster Comment:This music video was filmed in 1985, July 27th in Exton, PA (not far from Philly) at a Drive-In theater that had been closed down already for a few years. I will eventually post some info about that shoot and making of the music video, which often aired on MTV. One You Tube comment: "ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA.... Life was simpler, happier and just all around better." Who wouldn't agree? As I clearly recall, In 1985 the future was still positive, sunny and full of optimism as Ronald Reagan promised. The Gipper was just beginning his second term... Who had any inkling that the America, culture AND the freedom we'd always known and still been rolling strong ...

A Texas woman allegedly pretended to be her own autistic twin as part of a plan to lure a caregiver to her home for her sexual pleasure. But that plan failed when the caregiver grew suspicious and looked into her backgrounddiscovering she had no siblings. Rachel Childs, 29, solicited a caregiver online under the guise that her autistic sister needed help, according to a release from Pearland Police Department. Childs told the female caregiver to pick up her sister from her house but that she would not be present. The unnamed caregiver was then to drop the sister back at Childs home the following day. However, after arriving as planned to pick up the sister, the caregiver ...

All 213 Beatles Songs, Ranked From Worst to Best Post Date: 2018-08-20 12:53:16 by Liberator

It turns out that ranking the songs recorded by the Beatles in the 1960s is easy; you put the worst one at the top, and the best one at the bottom. The list is based on the bands British releases, which is how they thought of their work. In the U.K. in the 1960s, the group released 13 official studio albums, including the A Hard Days Night, Help!, and Yellow Submarine quasi-soundtrack albums. The so-called White Album, The Beatles, was a two-record set. There was also a flurry of non-album singles throughout those years, collected in different ways in the U.K. and the U.S. EMI also released a number of four-song EPs in Britain, particularly early on, but only one ...
