War, the knees are still here, reminding me that I'm over 50! :) The boys are running me ragged - baseball and track right now - but I'm enjoying just having 2 to run after right now. The older 2 are out of school. The oldest is working, the second-oldest is laid off and looking for a job. Hubby is working on a new bridge here in Southwest Missouri, so we get to see him every weekend. Life is good! I hope everything is going well with you and yours, too! :)

I found out the sex of all of mine early - except the first one - but I knew from the start he was a boy - I just knew it inside! :) I always hoped for a little girl, but the Good Lord seemed to think I was better suited to be a boys' mom. I think the company my son was working with will call him back within the next 2 weeks - I hope so anyway. Jobs here in rural Southwest Missouri are few and far between right now. They're coming back somewhat, but there are so many people looking that the competition is stiff. He's a good kid and a good worker, so he'll land on his feet - if he will keep his mind off the ladies and on more important things, that is! :)

And my most favorite movie they ever made was their very first one, 'The Egg and I' with Fred McMurray and Claudette Corbet(sp?)....It's hillarious... Here's a little trivia some don't know about Marjorie Main (Maw), she was 'obsessive compulsive', nuts about cleanliness. When acting, she wore double cotton stockings, and when they had a break, she wore rubber gloves because she didn't like anyone touching her...really weird phobia to have considering the part she played.

Small world, isn't it? You know, I remember reading IMDB's biography on Marjorie Main and they mentioned on there that she was a germaphobe and that she would also carry on conversations with her dead husband while she was on movie sets. She was really one of a kind! I love "The Egg and I", too! Have you read any of Betty MacDonald's other books? I have almost all of them and I read them over and over, just to marvel at her skill as a writer. They're great - even better than the movie! :)

My son buys all my books as gifts, and boy do I have a collection...I'm a readaholic...I love reading more than I love the movies, although I am particurally fond of b/w classics, 1920-40's, Mary Pickford being among the rarest and hardest to find. The last movie I saw Marjorie in was 'The Women' 1939, she was great.

I have the first 4, but cannot bring myself to spend the money to buy the last one. I've seen it for as much as $200.00 on Alibris! :0 I hope you enjoy reading them! :)
