April 6 (Bloomberg) -- Home Depot Inc., the largest U.S. home-improvement retailer, is adding store jobs for the first time in four years in anticipation of a rebound in sales.

“We have already added to our payroll this year,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frank Blake said in an interview yesterday in Atlanta, where Home Depot is based. “As you have positive transaction growth, you need more associates to handle that in the stores. We are going to lean into our skis a little bit.”

Home Depot made the decision to boost hiring late last year, Blake said. Sales advanced more than the company had anticipated in the fourth quarter, helped by demand for paint, flooring and plumbing items. Home Depot forecast in February that revenue would advance 2.5 percent this year, marking the first increase since 2006.

Don't they know that this is all "false positives"?

Funny isn't it?

The same crowd that couldn't acknowledge the approaching recession back in 2006, were every selloff in the markets brought cries of "time to buy more...", are the same crowd that just can't acknowledge this pending economic recovery.

Never swear "allegiance" to anything other than the 'right to change your mind'!

Actually, this 'same crowd' doesn't see 90 - 120 day temp jobs for the Federal Government as 'a sign of recovery' Brian S.

As noted two months ago, we'll limp through this year...and thats whats happening. 2011 is when the hammer falls again, and because of the insane political propaganda, Owe-bama gets a 'double dip recession' which will be viewed as total FAILURE of his own economic policies.

The administration should have learned from the failed stimulus package and its 'sales pitch' of 'it will keep unemployment below 8 percent'.

But nope, they say whatever they think will win the 24 hour news cycle, and then whats worse, THEY BELIEVE IT.

Thats why he's going to be a failed one term President. The only peson happy about it, btw, is Jimmy Carter.

my anti groupie can't get through life without me.

Boofer and The Oog especially but the best was gomer trying to say that the housing market, in late 2007, was even better than it was the mid 1980's...

Actually, only Boofers and Morons - a redundancy to be sure - believe that 40K is a bigger number than 123K...

The administration should have learned from the failed stimulus package

The stim stemmed the bleeding of jobs and stimulated inventory investment and home and car purchases...in other words, it did as advertised.

But only a Boofer would believe otherwise.

The surest bet is a bet against their prophesies.

That Iam Still Right said that the thousands of vacant brand new houses some already boarded up that I saw on a 200 mile roadtrip were figments of my imagination. When I posted to him that my real estate agent stated that his average customer was an illegal with no line of credit, he LOLOL'd and again denied it.

And you do that, Fred. Bet the HOUSE and your (laughing) race horse against the predictions.

Just wait for 2012 and the end of the world.

Actually, I think she's reversed her thought on that and it will be a new beginning.
