Business Title: ObamaCare already hurting small businesses Of course you might say, "I don't own a tanning salon, nor do I work for one." But tanning salons are only the first victim of ObamaCare. But there's more to it: If tanning salons are forced out of business because of the 10 percent tanning tax--that only means tax revenue will have to come from other businesses. Or directly from you. Anyone else consider the racist aspects of a tax on tanning salon patrons? While I don't use that particular service...I'm pretty certain people of 'color' aren't a significant part of the customer base. Imagine a tax on anyone desiring a service based on a desire to change skin color from dark to light. That was used almost exclusively by people of 'color'. Just noting something so obvious its not even being considered. Tells ya how conditioned we really are.

Teens, Skip the Tanning Beds: International Study Links Them to Melanoma Many teens and twenty-somethings want that bronzed glow all year ‘round, and when they can’t tan outdoors, millions use sunbeds to get it. Every year, nearly 2.3 million American teenagers visit tanning salons. The dangerous consequence is a significantly increased risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, according to an international study published in March. Reviewing all available worldwide data – 19 international studies– a Working Group of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC, a branch of the World Health Organization) found a strong association between tanning bed use and melanoma risk. Across all age groups, males and females who have ever used tanning beds have a 15 percent higher risk of developing melanoma. More alarming still, based on 7 worldwide studies, people who first use a tanning bed before age 35 increase their risk for melanoma by 75 percent. The IARC’s findings also reinforce previous research showing that tanning bed use increases the risk for squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common skin cancer. False Claims by Tanning Proprietors Finally, the study disputes tanning salon owners’ and operators’ frequent claims that sunbeds offer health benefits because they provide a “base tan” that helps avoid sunburn. “The evidence does not support a protective effect of the use of sunbeds against damage to the skin from subsequent sun exposure. There is no such thing as a safe tan,” declares Dr. Béatrice Secretan, coordinator of the IARC Working Group. “Young adults should be discouraged from using indoor tanning equipment, and restricted access to sunbeds by minors should be strongly considered.”

All participants had their blood vitamin D levels measured at the beginning of the study and then once per week for seven weeks. They each tanned in a commercial tanning bed three times per week. After one week, vitamin D levels had increased by an average of 50 percent, and by five weeks they had increased by 150 percent from the starting point.

(laughing) To the gist of the article, its frightening that 3,500 plus corporations have noted the tax aspects of this new law are going to hurt them badly financially, and this Democrat administration and Congress wants a show trial run by Henry Waxman to intimidate them into SILENCE. There's a man with a gun over there, telling me, I got to beware...its time we stopped children, whats that sound, everybody look whats going down....' Dissent must be CRUSHED. Be it showing up and exercising freedom of assembly and speech, or stating KNOWN FACTS contrary to this Administrations viewpoint. This makes the Bush administration's actions regarding terrorism look like a walk in the park...because THIS is squarely aimed at 'WE THE PEOPLE'. Not even a pretense of being about non citizens, ala the Patriot Act. Think about it. It shouldn't matter what side of the political aisle you reside, folks. Cause if they can do this to me (small biz owner) they damn sure can and WILL do it to you when they get done with 'me' and those like me that run companies, large or small.
