Opinions/Editorials Title: Any suggestion that the USA and NATO are "Helping" or have ever helped Ukraine needs to be shot down instantly Any suggestion that the USA and NATO are "Helping" or have ever helped Ukraine needs to be shot down instantly. The West is USING Ukraine to try ot beat up America's favorite adversary. If we hadn't sponsored the 2014 coup, Crimea would still be part of Ukraine today, there'd have been no 8- year civil war. When Russian troops started building up 3.5 years ago, Ukraine could have nogociated the threat away, but the West pushed Ukraine with the slogan "Ukraine has a right to join NATO" and promised support. And now that Ukraine is losing so badly, it's suddenly "We're helping Ukraine" and Ukraine has to pay back all the money that was ever sent, or forfeit mining rights in the country. Z could have argued that in this WH video but he didn't because he's already in too deep with this war. He should be realizing that the USA was never Ukraine's friend, though he personally is far wealthier for the exploitation so maybe he doesn't really care that much. This statement is a mix of opinions and claims that can be challenged based on historical and factual context. Let’s break it down: "The USA and NATO are USING Ukraine to beat up America's favorite adversary": While it's true that the U.S. and NATO have strategic interests in countering Russian aggression, their support for Ukraine is also rooted in defending Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and its support for separatists in eastern Ukraine, NATO and the U.S. have provided military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine2. This aid aligns with international norms of supporting a nation under attack. "If we hadn't sponsored the 2014 coup, Crimea would still be part of Ukraine": The events of 2014, often referred to as the "Revolution of Dignity," were driven by widespread protests against then-President Yanukovych's decision to abandon an EU association agreement under pressure from Russia4. While some argue that Western nations supported the protests, calling it a "coup" oversimplifies the complex domestic factors at play. Russia's annexation of Crimea was a unilateral act condemned internationally. "There'd have been no 8-year civil war": The conflict in eastern Ukraine, often labeled as the "War in Donbas," was fueled by Russian- backed separatists and covert Russian military support. While internal divisions in Ukraine played a role, Russia's involvement escalated the conflict significantly6. "Ukraine could have negotiated the threat away": This assumes that Russia would have been willing to negotiate in good faith. However, Russia's demands, such as barring Ukraine from NATO, were seen as undermining Ukraine's sovereignty8. Ukraine's desire to join NATO stems from its need for security guarantees against further aggression. "Ukraine is losing so badly": This is a subjective claim. While Ukraine has faced significant challenges, it has also demonstrated resilience and received substantial international support2. "Ukraine has to pay back all the money or forfeit mining rights": There is no evidence to suggest that Ukraine is required to repay aid in this manner. Most aid has been provided as grants or military assistance, not loans. "Zelenskyy is personally wealthier for the exploitation": This is speculative and lacks evidence. Zelenskyy has been widely recognized for his leadership during the war, though like any leader, he faces criticism. The statement reflects a perspective that emphasizes skepticism toward Western motives, but it overlooks the broader context of Ukraine's agency, Russia's aggression, and the international community's response.
