United States News Title: The Voters Are Going To Throw the Democrats Out of Power The Voters Are Going To Throw the Democrats Out of PowerAP Because the Biden administration entered office determined to do everything differently from the previous administration, its major policies have become tangled knots of self-contradiction. Since the Democratic Party had so heavily invested in the evil of Russia and President Trump's supposed coziness with the Kremlin, (a complete and defamatory fiction), it was peculiar and absurd that Russia was invited to act as the intermediary of the United States in the new administration's poorly thought out ambition to put the nuclear arms deferral agreement with Iran, back together. This was a bad idea in all respects as that agreement was one of the most disadvantageous international agreements ever made by the United States, and along with Obamacare and the Green Terror, was the principal heritage of the Obama era. In exchange for the release of over $100 billion of Iranian assets that had been frozen and the drastic reduction of seriously inconvenient sanctions on Iran, that country would defer development and deployment of nuclear-tipped intermediate and long-range missiles for ten years, more than seven of which have now elapsed. Once Russia invaded Ukraine and the Biden administration correctly determined to assist Ukraine in its defense, (after discovering the inaccuracy of Joint Chiefs’ Chairman General Mark Milley’s prediction that Russia would overwhelm Ukraine within two weeks), the continued role of Russia as a representative of American interests opposite Iran was outrageous....... That will stop the January 6 stuff. Then we will have two years of Biden ruling by Executive Order. And then we'll get a Republican President...maybe. Trump or DeSantis. Maybe Trump/DeSantis Unless we're all vaporized first, which is a non-zero possibility.
#3. To: Vicomte13 (#2) 53? Really?
#4. To: tankumo (#3) Yep, 53. MAYBE 54, but that's really stretching it. Not enough to remove Biden after an impeachment, but enough to stop the legislative agenda cold, and enough to stop him from packing the courts.
#5. To: Vicomte13 (#4) I am worried about supreme court, Judge Thomas may be retiring.
#7. To: tankumo (#5) The Republican Senate will block anybody until 2024. And I don't think Thomas will retire until then. 54 Senators, 238 House.
#8. To: Vicomte13 (#7) 54 wow!!!! you are so optimistic.
#9. To: tankumo (#8) It will certainly be 53. 54 is a reach. But I hope so. Hell, it COULD be 56 if this is a 500 year tsunami. Doesn't really make a difference, since it takes 67 to remove a President, and 60 to override a filibuster, and we're not going to get either of those things. So, Biden will still rule through Executive actions, like Trump and Obama did, and we just have to gut it out until 2024.
#10. To: Vicomte13 (#9) I want Rinos out.
#11. To: tankumo (#10) Well, who's a RINO? Liz Cheney is out - she was the worst. The Trumpish Republicans are surging, so I expect it will be a more Trumpish party that takes over in January. Mitch McConnell is not a Trumpster, but he's not really a RINO either. He was very good on judges, and just knows that power game so well. He's going to be there forever, like some Galpagos Tortoise that lives 279 years. He's not great, but he's not terrible either. He's...Mitch McConnell. You pretty much know what he's going to do. It's going to be effective. About 70% of it is what you want. 15% is tolerable. And 15% will piss you off. It doesn't get better than that, really, with anybody who has that much experience and power. He has his own opinions on some things, they're different from mine and yours, and he's got the power. You have to live with that sort of thing. It's inevitable. There are lots of Democrats getting hives over the fact that Diden sounds like Churchill on Ukraine and Taiwan. He's VERY strong on those - much stronger than his party. They want to faint. Of course, that's because Biden is senile and thinks he's taking on Brezhnev and Mao, but I'll take it. I'm 1000% with Biden on Ukraine and Taiwan. My hope is that once his party has lost power, he'll just go to sleep in his rocking chair and can be trotted out to say strong things about the war. That works for me. If his whole domestic agenda is replaced by Congress, and he just rubber stamps it and goes back to his milk bottle, find by me.
#12. To: Vicomte13 (#11) (Edited) Seriously, V13, how can we really even compare Ukraine and Taiwan from a tactical standpoint? We are in the process of sending some $100 Billion in armaments and currency to the Ukrainian defense forces. How do we get weapons and ammo and foodstuffs to Taiwan without somehow evading China's air and sea blockade? Taiwan is an island on its own unless America is willing to risk all-out war against China, imho...MUD
#14. To: Mudboy Slim (#12) We go to all out war with CHina, at sea, and we defeat them, obviously. You do not invade free democratic allies of the USA. Period. Russia is being broken right now. They will never recover. If China does it now, they will be broken too. After that, nobody will be in any position to challenge us, and nobody will have the nerve to do it, for 30 years.
#15. To: Vicomte13 (#14) (Edited) If God is truly on OUR Side, I pray he leads this nation away from an all-out war with China (or Russia) in our lifetimes. Nobody wins those conflicts. And America would be ill-served with TraitorJOE as Commander-in- Chief in any significant military action, as we saw in Afghanistan. I continue to pray for revolutionary forces in each of these authoritarian countries to take out their respective despots. Coups d'etat or an assassin's bullet, whatever. I like to believe both Vlad and Xi have expiration dates that are just around the corner...MUD
#16. To: Mudboy Slim (#15) 7 more days.
Replies to Comment # 16. I am liking what I am hearing/reading...all comes down to turnout, and I know a lot of demoralized folks who usually vote for Democrats who aren't all that excited to pull the lever for DemRATZ...MUD
