The lead vocalists for classic rock groups Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special have released a new song dedicated to the state of Florida and its Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. Johnny Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and his brother Donnie Van Zant (38 Special) teamed up on the song “Sweet Florida” in order to pay tribute to the state and its governor. The lyrics of the song praise DeSantis for his leadership in the face of an increasingly mob-like left. “The press don’t like him,” the song says of the governor. “He stands up for what he believes. So don’t come down here and try to change things, we’re doing all right in the Sunshine State. Stay out of our business and leave our Gov alone.” The lyrics continue, “He’s fighting for the right to keep our state free/Well, he’s taking on the swamp and he’s calling out Dr. Fauci—Fauci/He’s the only one fighting for you and me!” The governor appeared on “Fox and Friends” Friday to promote the song, which is available on Spotify and iTunes. Yahoo News and the Daily Beast published articles saying the Fox hosts “gleefully” promoted the “shameless propaganda song.”
