Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died, the band confirmed on social media Friday night, saying they are "devastated."
"The Foo Fighters Family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever," the band said in a statement.
They wrote that their "hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time."
Hawkins was 50 years old.
After Foo Fighters founder and front man Dave Grohl, Hawkins was probably the most prominent member of the group, appearing alongside Grohl in interviews and playing prominent roles in the band's videos.
The band is currently touring South America and were set to play a show in Bogota, Colombia, on Friday night.
Hawkins' cause of death was not immediately reported.

Not only that, at least one member of the band is heavily involved with the occult. You had some good comments on that thread.

The essential feature of government is the enforcement of its decrees by beating, killing, and imprisoning.
Those who are asking for more government interference are asking ultimately for more compulsion and less freedom.

I don't know. Looks kind of lame.
I've been seeing comments saying Dave Grohl had something to do with Kurt Cobain's death, and that Cobain faked his death to be a member of the 27 Club. Sounds about right all things considered.

Hawkins had spoken openly about his battle with drugs.
'I used to do a lot of f**king drugs. You get the work done,' he said in interview with Kerrang last year in which he spoke of 'living fast and dying young'.
'Everyone has their own path and I took it too far. I was partying in London one night, and I mistakenly did something and it changed everything.
'I believed the bulls**t myth of live hard and fast, die young. I'm not here to preach about not doing drugs, because I loved doing drugs, but I just got out of control for a while and it almost got me.
'I was heading down a road that was going to lead to even worse paths. Whether someone's sober, or they like a glass of wine with dinner, or they want a bottle of Jägermeister before they go onstage, or they like to smoke doobies all day long, everyone has their own path, and I took it too far.
'I'm glad it got knocked on the head at that point. I wouldn't take anything away that I've done or been through either, because it's all part of the trip and the journey. I'm trying to be as candid as I can be. I go mountain biking now.'

I have lost a few friends who never quite figured out that Enough was Enough, and tempted fate to the point that folks I love, partied with, and hoped to grow old with, are now just memories, their earthly vessels buried six feet below marble slabs noting their coming and going from this planet.
