EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa has brought back 79 workers laid off from a western Pennsylvania plant in November.

The company says it will also hire 50 more workers at its plant in Ebensburg, about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Company officials said in November that 141 people were laid off, including the 79 who have been recalled. More than 60 others were to be offered buyouts or jobs in other parts of the company.

Gamesa said it was bringing back the workers after Gov. Ed Rendell on Thursday announced three new wind energy projects worth $22.8 million. The contracts were not all directly awarded to Gamesa, which will benefit instead by wind turbine orders expected to result from the projects.

Short termed government subsidized jobs. The quintessential Mandingo creation of jobs.

Like I said, let's end the subsidies on all forms of energy, and de-regulate.

Who do you think will remain standing at the end of the day? Solar?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I live in New Mexico. Even with their tax credits I ran the numbers and found it would take 32 years for that solar system to pay for itself.

Pitty the panels start to die out at 25 years.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Why do you ***think*** conventional energy is a "sound" inventment? Because government subsidies and regulations make them so.

Imagine a world in which the US government wouldn't go to war for Exxon. Imagine a world in which a government didn't allow an electric utility to bump up its rates because they are ***thinking*** about building a plant that MIGHT cost...well...SOMETHING...

Would that be the costs incurred by the most strict air quality regulations on fossil fuel burning on the planet?

Typically stupid question even tho you framed it as rhetorical, Puddin'. The rest of the western world is half a generation ahead of us in power generation and have half the emmissions...why is that? It's because both oil companies and their politicians could give a shit what happens once they bring the oil out of the ground...MOST of their money is made in the all that leads up to harvesting it. So politicians play this little game of "regulation" to make it seem as if they are doing something while here we are STILL using 19th century technology to power us...

I don't know where to begin with an avowed Libertarian like yourself who accepts every liberal agenda.

Google +PSD and +Coal. Something as innocuous as that should return nothing, right?
