CPAC is in full swing, a few highlights so far:

- speakers reading jokes off teleprompters that make fun of Obama's use of a teleprompter

- Mitt Romney pretending he's a conservative

- Scott Brown pretending he's a conservative

- Attendees praising the service they are getting from unionized staff

- And then there's this (NSFW) http://alturl.com/bix8

You people may be correct in directing criticism toward this organization. The people on the so-called right who want smaller government and a return to the Constitution are being marginalized and co-opted right before our eyes. CPAC is just one vehicle to do it.

What's left of the fledgling Tea Party movement in '10 and '12 will either find itself in the republican party or completely discredited by our so-called friends in right-wing media and talk radio.

So - you can fault some on the movement for their political naivete - but why do you continue to impugn their motives?

I may be the "Fool On The Hill" - but you clowns who support the Obamas, Pelosis and Reids of the world are the real fools.

Their so called purpose seems a little disingenuous as none of them seemed to care when the GOP was the one doing the robbing of freedoms. Also at least the tea partyers I have talked too are pretty gung ho on the ME wars. Wars neither officially declared nor directly dealing with 14 Saudi planejackers and their supposed Saudi Arabian family dynasty boss.

None of them? That seems a little broad. Bush's record low approval ratings and the fact the GOP lost Congress in '06 would seem to belie that "fact."

THIS particular tea-partyier was against going into Iraq, but I can't speak for others. I suspect opinions run the spectrum.

Sadly, getting mired in foreign quagmires is not only a GOP/right wing thing. See LBJ/Vietnam or Clinton/Kosovo.

And how's that Zero getting us out of Iraq thing going?

You really think they went out and voted Democrat? lolol

We are not in Vietnam and Kosovo was a minor skirmish compare to the current two major war fronts.

He's following the Bush/neocon war line to a T as he was meant to.

Well SOMEBODY did . . . didn't they?

It's not rocket science. You said "no one criticized Bush and the GOP when blah blah blah blah."

I pointed out to you that you were in error, because the criticism took the form of Bush's record low approval ratings and the GOP losing Congress.

All it takes is - the hardcore base staying home, the "independents" breaking to the Demwits, and the demwit base turning out.

And this tends to happen during the terms of most two term pres's of either party. Bush was luckier in that it occured during his second term. Which probably would be construed by you as him being actually quite popular.

I cannot prove this, of course, but my opinion is that Bush's popularity was skewed by 9/11. The GOPs gains in the '02 elections were certainly affected.

I believe if it hadn't been for 9/11, Bush would have been a one-termer.

Had the Democrats found someone better than John Kerry he would have been a one termer as well, and Kerry almost beat him.

Very true. If the dems had found someone better the Al Gore, Bush wouldn't even have been a one term president.

Or if Gore had demanded a statewide recount in FL instead of just the few districts he thought would be most favorable to him.
