Former President Barack Obama once wrote that he fantasized about having sexual relations with other men, biographer David Garrow said in an interview published on Wednesday. The former president expressed his fantasies in a letter to a girlfriend at the time, Garrow told Tablet magazine in the interview. That letter has been redacted and is currently in the possession of Emory University, according to Garrow.
The ex-girlfriend provided a copy of the letter, but had redacted one paragraph, Garrow told Tablet, who said she revealed the paragraph was about “homosexuality.” “Sometime, right about when Rising Star came out, Alex indirectly sold the original, sold those letters, and they ended up at Emory,” Garrow told Tablet while discussing his 2017 biography of Obama, “Rising Star,” which touched on Obama reportedly dreaming about homosexuality. “So Emory put out a press release saying, ‘We’ve gotten these rare letters by Barack Obama.’ And no mention of this paragraph that was too sensitive. None of the papers mentioned it. Emory didn’t mention it.”
“So I emailed Harvey [Klehr], said, ‘Go to the Emory archives.’ He’s spent his whole life at Emory, but they won’t let him take pictures,” Garrow said later in the interview. “So Harvey has to sit there with a pencil and copy out the graph where Barack writes to Alex about how he repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.”
Obama married his wife, former first lady Michelle "The Beard" Obama, in 1992.
Obama did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment."

Steven G. Bradbury is a Distinguished Fellow in the Executive
Vice President’s office at The Heritage Foundation.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has become a serious threat to the liberties of the American people.
There’s a growing sense of urgency, especially among conservatives in Congress, that the FBI must be brought under effective oversight and fundamentally reformed to end its weaponization and to resecure our most basic freedoms. Monday, The Heritage Foundation issued a report that contains extensive suggestions that should be considered in rebuilding the FBI from the ground up.
The FBI’s record is nothing less than chilling. Since 9/11, the bureau has expanded its use of broad intelligence-gathering powers, increasingly directing them at political movements that the Left perceives threaten the Washington establishment and directing its surveillance at ordinary Americans’ exercise of free speech, religious liberties, and other constitutionally protected rights. This dangerous trend led to the partisan abuses of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane operation to link Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign to Russian interference in the election, as confirmed in damning detail in special counsel John Durham’s report.
Then-Director James Comey’s FBI fabricated the “Russian collusion” hoax to support the fraudulent misuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, conducting a politicized assault on Trump’s presidential campaign while giving Hillary Clinton’s competing campaign protective treatment. And then there were the shocking revelations exposed in the Twitter Files: the suppression of the damning evidence on Hunter Biden’s laptop to the benefit of Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, the monitoring of social media to target opinions that dissented from the Biden administration’s preferred policies on COVID-19 vaccines and other matters, and the ongoing efforts to pressure Big Tech to censor or “shadow ban” disfavored speech and label it as “disinformation.”
Then there’s the FBI’s harassment of Americans for expressing their religious convictions at abortion clinics while violent Antifa rioters get a pass. And there’s its treatment of parents as potential terrorists for trying to look after their children’s education by speaking up at school board meetings. And recent reports unsealed by the FISA court reveal that the FBI has repeatedly abused its access to the data collected under FISA Section 702, a powerful foreign intelligence tool. While Section 702 surveillance is targeted only at foreigners located outside the U.S., it does sweep in some communications involving persons in the U.S., and the FBI has improperly dipped into the 702 database more than 278,000 times to gather information on Americans for purposes having nothing to do with national security.
The subjects of these improper FBI searches have included Jan. 6 rioters, Black Lives Matter protesters, visitors to the FBI headquarters, and even donors to congressional campaigns, among others. So, there are certainly compelling grounds for a complete reformation of the FBI. Many in Congress are intent on reconstructing the bureau from the ground up in a new form, one limited to traditional core law enforcement responsibilities and subject to the structural restraints and oversight needed to protect the constitutional rights of Americans.
In a major paper published Monday, The Heritage Foundation weighs in on these issues, explaining the need for fundamental reforms, describing the general elements that would be involved in rebuilding the FBI, and offering options for Congress’ consideration. (The Daily Signal is the news and commentary outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)
One option is to narrow the bureau’s jurisdiction and focus its mission on major law enforcement and national security challenges that are beyond the capacity of local law enforcement and that are not adequately addressed by other federal agencies. Another significant option would be to take away the FBI’s intelligence functions and move them elsewhere.
Other proposed elements include:
Prohibiting efforts to suppress free speech, religious liberty, and other constitutional rights by restricting or eliminating the bureau’s authority to monitor the activities of Americans without any evident connection to a possible crime.
Enhancing the bureau’s support for and technical assistance to state and local law enforcement. The bureau’s tools and expertise can be employed to improve the performance and effectiveness of law enforcement at the local level.
Putting the FBI director under the attorney general’s chain of command and repealing the director’s 10-year term of office. No federal law enforcement bureau should be a power unto itself, able to act on a rogue basis without supervision.
Reviewing the bureau’s personnel and personnel practices and including requirements for new, more stringent ethical standards and employee screenings.
Shifting headcount and resources from the Washington headquarters to the field offices.
Creating an FBI inspector general to ensure proper oversight of the bureau’s compliance with all applicable requirements, limitations, and protections envisioned by Congress.
Requiring the inspector general to complete a comprehensive review cataloging and exposing all prior abuses.
Requiring the attorney general to purge all information that was improperly collected on Americans by the FBI or other components of the Justice Department.
Whether or not Congress decides to start the bureau over from scratch, there remains the imperative to end the weaponization of the FBI and the misuse of intelligence authorities. Our Heritage report discusses in detail the minimum set of reforms that must be enacted to do that job. At the very least, these should include insulating the FBI from the Section 702 program and making other reforms to FISA necessary to address the abuses seen in Crossfire Hurricane. The Biden administration’s push for legislation reauthorizing Section 702, which expires at the end of this calendar year, gives Congress the ideal opportunity to insist on these important FISA reforms.
It’s also critical to prohibit the FBI and other federal agencies from working with outside entities to pressure or suppress constitutionally protected speech as “disinformation,” as well as to prohibit any efforts to target the exercise of religious beliefs and parental rights. One way or another, the time is now for Congress to do what’s needed to fix the FBI and end its trampling of Americans’ most precious civil liberties.

"I spent more than twenty years studying fascism, and all that time I kept asking myself how the democratic countries of the West could have been so blind, and how they could have been so totally unprepared for Hitler's war. After all, he had written Mein Kampf, which pretty much laid it all out. Once in power, he set about arming the country, making menacing sounds to his neighbors, crushing the Jews and separating them out of the population, and preparing to march. It was all so clear. He made no effort to trick us. We simply refused to believe what was right in front of our noses. In the fullness of time, the other Europeans were cannon fodder for Hitler's armies, and the United States did virtually nothing until we were bombed into war by the Japanese.
Then I look at China today, and I ask myself the same questions. China's leaders have made no bones about their hatred for us. They have loudly and publicly announced their intention to develop armies capable of destroying us. They have threatened to bomb Los Angeles if we do anything to annoy them, especially in the defense of democratic Taiwan. They have been busily crushing religious groups in China who dare recognize any authority other than the regime itself, and are separating them out of the population. There is no effort to trick us, none of the legendary inscrutability of the East. It is all so clear.
In the past few days, both the CIA and the FBI have warned about the increasing Chinese espionage in the United States, aimed primarily at obtaining our advanced military technology. One wonders why they bother, since we've been quite willing to sell them most anything they need. Clinton and Gore have deliberately and systematically armed China, and when a tiny handful of congressmen tried to get the details, Clinton and Gore quashed investigations and withheld evidence from investigators.
Meanwhile, the Chinese prepare for war, and warn us of its consequences. The headlines for the past several weeks have reported an endless barrage of threats from Beijing: There will be war with Taiwan if it dares to act as an independent country, and war with us if we dare to defend them, as we have sometimes promised to do. It may be all bluff and bluster, but, I keep thinking, that's what lots of people said about Hitler. The Taiwanese elections are now ten days away, and the Chinese show all the signs of preparing to attack. They have moved an enormous quantity of military materiel down south, just across the straits from Taiwan. They have hordes and swarms of soldiers, bundles of missiles, plenty of aircraft. The intelligence community reports these facts to our leaders, but our leaders are silent. Great journalists like Bill Gertz report these facts to the public, but there is no outcry. We are strong enough to deter China, but we show no sign of wanting to warn them off. On the contrary: we welcome their military leaders, escort them around our bases, sell them our best weapons, and even train their soldiers. Not even the most feckless French leaders would have dreamed of training the Wehrmacht, or of selling advanced technology for the Panzer corps.
Whether now or a few years from now, it is increasingly likely that we will have to fight China, and we have done everything possible to ensure that they will win. In the 1930s, Western businessmen did deals with the Nazis, but there was no leading Western government that armed the Third Reich as a matter of official policy. But we are arming China. Clinton and Gore are Lenin's dream come true: capitalists selling communists the rope with which to hang us.

The millions sure do add up when you’re a Biden. And not because you have any particular business skills. Newly revealed bank records show President Joe Biden’s family and allies hauled in a jaw-dropping $20 million from foreign sources in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, some of whom personally dined with the prez himself in Washington.
Documents released by the House Oversight Committee also confirm that Hunter Biden raked in a cool $1 million a year from Ukrainian gas company Burisma, starting when dad — oh-so-coincidentally — took charge of Team Obama’s Ukraine portfolio in 2014.
They show a Kazakhstani businessman, Kenes Rakishev, gave the first son $142,300 that year to buy a car — reportedly a Porsche.
Yet another $3.5 million from Russian billionaire and Moscow’s former first lady Yelena Baturina went to an entity controlled by Hunter and his business partner, Devon Archer — as Archer’s congressional deposition last month detailed.
Other records show funding went to nine different members of the Biden clan. Why are all these foreigners paying so much to the Bidens?
Documents released by the House Oversight Committee also confirm that Hunter Biden raked in a cool $1 million a year from Ukrainian gas company Burisma, starting in 2014. The president’s defenders, like The Washington Post’s Philip Bump, claim there’s still no smoking-gun proof of an outright bribe. And besides, the money went to Hunter, not the president himself.

Even if these moneybags were dumping millions on The Family just for a dinner with Joe (an extremely doubtful suggestion), that in itself would be highly unethical: Public officials aren’t supposed to sell their titles for personal gain, or even the benefit of their relatives.
Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) noted Wednesday that President Biden clearly “knew about his son’s business dealings and allowed himself to be ‘the brand’ sold to enrich the Biden family” while VP. Just imagine if the son of a sitting Republican vice president was getting a Porsche, tens of millions in cash and even a pricey diamond — all for access to Dad (and, no, not just the “illusion of access”). Democrats and their media backers would lose their minds.
Instead, they now want Americans to ignore all the Bidens’ shady deals and millions in transfers simply because no actual recording has yet emerged of the prez accepting cash in a secret envelope in some dark parking garage somewhere.
“During Joe Biden’s vice presidency, Hunter Biden sold [his father] as ‘the brand’ to reap millions from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine,” Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) charged Wednesday. “It appears no real services were provided other than access to the Biden network, including Joe Biden himself.”
That access came in the form of — at the very least — meals at that DC eatery and phone calls with the very oligarchs who ponied up the cash. Oh, and, as Comer noted, Joe Biden clearly “knew about his son’s business dealings and allowed himself to be ‘the brand’ sold to enrich the Biden family” while VP.
Yet the prez and his team have been lying and obfuscating about his involvement — and what he knew — for years. The Biden Justice Department has worked overtime to bury any legitimate probe.
Congress should at least subpoena Hunter (who’s at the heart of all the corruption and who’d face perjury charges if he lied in sworn testimony), if not Joe himself. Demanding the president’s bank records could also shed light on the extent to which the president personally benefited. The ever-growing evidence so far is enough to warrant at least that much."

$400 Billion in Sales From Proxy War With Russia"

Western weapons manufacturers are popping champagne corks over record sales with total revenues hitting $400 billion for last year. According to media reports, this coming year-end will see that record figure exceeded by another salivating $50 billion. Ukraine may be resembling a bloodbath, as we noted in last week’s editorial. But apparently, Western military corporations are swimming in a bonanza of profits and stock market investments. Most of this lucrative new business stems from NATO’s proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, which is heading toward its second year. There is no sign of a diplomatic effort from the West or the Kiev regime it sponsors to end the bloodshed.
The main corporate beneficiaries making a financial killing from Ukraine are by far the American firms. They include such behemoths as Lockheed Martin, Boeing and RTX (formerly Raytheon). But also enjoying soaring profits are arms makers in other NATO countries: BAE in the United Kingdom, Airbus in France, Netherlands and Spain, Leonardo in Italy, and Germany’s Rheinmetall.
This week the Joe Biden administration requested another $24 billion in U.S. taxpayer-funded aid to Ukraine. It’s hard to keep track of the money flowing from NATO countries to prop up the Nazi regime in Kiev. Even the NATO authorities don’t seem to know the precise figures, such is the rampant corruption that is inevitably associated with the vast doling of funds. But estimates of total U.S. and NATO aid to Ukraine range from $150 billion to $200 billion over the past year alone.
What we are seeing is an audacious racket whereby the American and European public are subsidizing the funneling of their own taxpayers’ money into the coffers of weapons firms. And there is no democratic choice in the matter. It’s a fait accompli. Or, put another way, extortion. Of course, too, part of this huge scam is the hefty financial cuts for the inner circle of the Kiev regime, including its puppet president, Vladimir Zelensky, and the brazenly sleazy defense chief Aleksy Reznikov.
