In his 1961 farewell address, President Dwight Eisenhower warned Americans to “guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex [MIC].” At the time, Eisenhower was concerned that our arms industry with its ever increasing financial and political power might conquer our Republic from within. He recognized that the rapid growth of the MIC, along with the “domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment,” would drive public policy that would “itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”
Since Eisenhower’s warning decades ago, the federal government has grown into a taxpayer-funded labyrinth of agencies wielding unyielding power over the people they are sworn to protect. Now, with the rapid growth of the digital age, political division, disinformation, fake news, and the like, our world has changed again — and not for the better. Using the MIC blueprint, our government, NGOs, and academic institutions have created and are using an all-consuming “censorship-industrial complex” (CIC) to protect their own interests.
As an example, during the Covid pandemic, governments used CIC tactics to create their own “pandemic of control.” According to EngageMedia, “Officials, medical experts, the mainstream media, and Big Tech pushed the narrative that COVID-19 could be tightly controlled, and that citizens everywhere had a responsibility to abide, with no questions asked, to achieve that aim. The ‘approved’ pandemic response was defended at all costs. News media ridiculed alternative viewpoints as fake news and misinformation, and social media platforms took down contradictory views from their feeds, silencing voices that questioned vaccine passports, lockdowns, and other controls.”
The only good thing that has come out of the Covid pandemic is that citizens have started to question the wisdom and authority of their government. In March, the House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government heard testimony on the CIC, as documented in the report The Censorship Industrial Complex: U.S. Government Support For Domestic Censorship And Disinformation Campaigns, 2016 – 2022. Even the executive summary of the 68 pages of testimony is chilling, as it portrays a government out of control, with “government-funded censors” who “invoke the prevention of real-world harm to justify their demands for censorship.”
The summary continued:
The censors have defined harm so broadly, in fact, that they have justified Facebook censoring accurate information about COVID vaccines, for example, to prevent “vaccine hesitancy.” Their goal, clearly, is not protecting the truth but rather persuading the public. That is the purpose of open debate and the free exchange of ideas. Persuasion by covert means is censorship.
CIC is a threat to all free people. Our government’s use of CIC is quickly making George Orwell’s Ministry of Truth a reality. President Biden is using the CIC to push his woke environmental, social-justice, and equity agenda, spending billions of taxpayer dollars to spread disinformation as facts. Michael Shellenberger, whose testimony is contained in the report of the House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, is president and founder of the nonprofit organization Environmental Progress (EP). That group shared their concerns about the CIC, warning readers that the “US government is targeting you”:
It has moved from fighting ISIS recruiters and Russian bots to censoring and de-platforming ordinary Americans and public figures they don’t like. Funded by billions of taxpayer dollars, the Censorship-Industrial Complex is using direct coercion along with the most sophisticated AI tools to manipulate people, label social media posts, and discredit factual information. With the CIC quickly being exposed as a threat to liberty and freedom, people are taking a stand and fighting back. The Federalist shared last week that “members of the Election Integrity Partnership and Virality Project conspired with government actors to censor speech at Big Tech companies in violation of the First Amendment, a class-action lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleges. The case, Hines v. Stamos, promises to blow open the Censorship-Industrial Complex.”
Andrew Lowenthal, co-founder and former executive director of EngageMedia, wrote a Brownstone Institute article about CIC, stating that he spent most of his career “focused on human rights online, freedom of expression, and open technology.” Now he is leading the charge against the CIC, since groups and colleagues he had worked with “for years began de-emphasizing freedom of speech and expression, and shifted focus to a new arena: fighting ‘disinformation.’”
In an effort to expose the groups that are part of the CIC, Racket News published an article Wednesday titled Report on the Censorship- Industrial Complex: The Top 50 Organizations to Know. Subtitled “The citizen’s starter kit to understanding the new global information cartel,” the report deserves a deep dive by any liberty lover seeking to better understand the CIC and how much money is being pumped into think tanks, academia, and NGOs on the anti-disinformation front, both from the government and private philanthropy.
Racket News declared:
The Top 50 List is intended as a resource for reporters and researchers beginning their journey toward learning the scale and ambition of the “Censorship-Industrial Complex.” Written like a magazine feature, it tries to answer a few basic questions about funding, organization type, history, and especially, methodology. Many anti-disinformation groups adhere to the same formulaic approach to research, often using the same “hate-mapping,” guilt-by-association-type analysis to identify wrong- thinkers and suppressive persons.

If you believe the media hype, a storm awaits America. The US government will have to fight off neo-Nazi religious fanatics, massive climate change, financial armageddon, mass species extinction, alien invasion, dollar dominance collapse, Russia and/or China, near-earth celestial objects, new pandemics, systemic racism, and evil billionaires, likely all at the same time.
While more than one of those threats are overblown and/or unlikely, nobody knows what the future will bring other than that something bad will certainly happen at some point. So why aren’t policymakers eager to pay down the national debt? A small national debt is the best security blanket America has ever had, and arguably the reason it expanded so quickly and won all of its wars, the important ones anyway.
To pay down the national debt means, at least, to run balanced budgets consistently, which makes the current debt less onerous as the nation grows more populous and prosperous. More aggressively, it means running budget surpluses as the US government routinely did in peacetime throughout its history and as recently as 1956.
The most immediate benefit of paying down the debt is to end the recurring debt-ceiling crises. If America’s putative leaders really want to prepare the nation for future exigencies, they need to fight over how much to reduce the debt, not how much to increase it. Reducing the debt gives the government more fiscal “dry powder” to use during future emergencies, without bashing Americans with high taxes and/or inflation.
You can think of the national debt like your credit card limit. The closer you are to that limit, the more you are paying each month in interest and also the closer you are to losing your automobile or home when an emergency hits. Instead of paying down its credit balance, Uncle Sam has been getting limit increases so it can put off payment. At some point, though, its creditors are going to say “no more.” That is unlikely to happen on any given, normal day but increasingly likely to occur precisely when the government will need the money the most, during a big crisis.
Where can the money come from to pay down the debt? Some could come from higher taxes, once the economy recovers, but most of it should come from slashing the administrative state. I don’t mean Social Security, I mean all those three-letter executive agencies that take and take and take without giving much of anything of value back. Specifically, both DOEs, Interior, Labor, the DEA, and the rotten parts of the CIA, FBI, NSA, and DOJ. Some four-letter government entities could be pared back or eliminated too, including FEMA, NASA, and the USPS, because competitive private enterprises already fulfill their missions more efficiently. Services that currently cost taxpayers, in other words, could become government revenue sources.
Some may think the federal government is too far gone to reform itself, but if it goes on a budget diet, a virtuous cycle will ensue, much like that (I can say from personal experience) enjoyed by a fat guy cutting back on carbs. A lower tax and regulatory burden will spur innovation, increase allocative efficiency, and create robust economic growth, which will swell tax receipts while reducing some expenditures like unemployment benefits and debt-interest payments.
The world will remain a dangerous place, but the further the nation is from its credit limit, the more effectively the government will be able to respond when, not if, something goes seriously awry.

Looking at the present, with each passing day, I see a very probable future: a new despotism creeping slowly across America. Faceless oligarchs sit at command posts of a corporate-government complex that has been slowly evolving over many decades.
In efforts to enlarge their own powers and privileges, they are/were willing to have others suffer the intended or unintended consequences of their institutional or personal greed. For Americans, these consequences include chronic inflation, recurring recession, huge unemployment, the poisoning of air, water, soil, and bodies, and, more important, the subversion of our constitution. More broadly, consequences include widespread intervention in international politics through economic manipulation, covert action, or military invasion…
I look at present members of the Establishment or people on its fringes who, in the name of Americanism, betray the interests of most Americans by fomenting militarism, applauding rat-race individualism, protecting undeserved privilege, or stirring up nationalistic and ethnic hatreds. I see pretended patriots who desecrate the American flag by waving it while waiving the law.
In Nazi Germany, the Gehieme Staatspolizei, or Gestapo, was literally the Homeland Police (Security). It was the MOTHERLAND in the USSR, the FATHERLAND in Nazi Germany, and now the HOMELAND in Nazi America! Homeland Security and the FBI are the American Gestapo.
In the months after Hitler took power, the SA and Gestapo agents went from door to door looking for Hitler’s enemies. Socialists, Communists, trade union leaders, and others who had spoken out against the Nazi Party were arrested, and some were killed. By the middle of 1933, the Nazi Party was the only political party, and nearly all organized opposition to the regime had been eliminated. Democracy was dead in Germany.
This will be the fate nowadays of gun owners, anti-vaccine advocates, freedom activists, self-sufficient people, and everyone against the current diabolical regime that got in place by stealing, lying, and cheating.
Many different groups, including the SA and SS, set up hundreds of makeshift “camps” in empty warehouses, factories, and other locations all over Germany where they held political opponents without trial and under conditions of great cruelty.

Despite the finger-pointing and outcries of dismay from those who are watching the government discard the rule of law at every turn, the question is not whether Joe Biden is the new Adolf Hitler, but whether the American Police State is the new Third Reich.
February 22, 1933, SS and SA become auxiliary police units Less than a month after Adolf Hitler is appointed chancellor of Germany, he calls on elements of the Nazi Party to act as auxiliary police. The SS, initially Hitler’s bodyguards, and the SA, the street fighters or Storm Troopers of the Nazi Party, now have official police power. With every passing day, the United States government borrows yet another leaf from Nazi Germany’s playbook: Secret police. Secret courts. Secret government agencies. Surveillance. Censorship. Intimidation. Harassment. Torture. Brutality. Widespread corruption. Entrapment. Indoctrination. Indefinite detention.
These are not tactics used by constitutional republics, where the rule of law and the rights of the citizenry reign supreme. Rather, they are the hallmarks of authoritarian regimes, where the only law that counts comes in the form of heavy-handed, unilateral dictates from a supreme ruler who uses a secret police to control the populace.
I know you already guessed and you are right, that danger is now posed by the FBI, whose laundry list of crimes against the American people includes surveillance, disinformation, blackmail, entrapment, intimidation tactics, harassment and indoctrination, governmental overreach, abuse, misconduct, trespassing, enabling criminal activity, and damaging private property, and that’s just based on what we know.
Whether the FBI is planting undercover agents in churches, synagogues, and mosques; issuing fake emergency letters to gain access to Americans’ phone records; using intimidation tactics to silence Americans who are critical of the government; recruiting high school students to spy on and report fellow students who show signs of being future terrorists; or persuading impressionable individuals to plot acts of terror and then entrapping them, the overall impression of the nation’s secret police force is that of a well-dressed thug, flexing its muscles and doing the boss’ dirty work of ensuring compliance, keeping tabs on potential dissidents, and punishing those who dare to challenge the status quo.
Consider the FBI’s far-reaching powers to surveil, detain, interrogate, investigate, prosecute, punish, police, and generally act as a law unto themselves—much like their Nazi cousins, the Gestapo—and then try to convince yourself that the United States is still a constitutional republic.
Just like the Gestapo, the FBI has vast resources, vast investigatory powers, and vast discretion to determine who is an enemy of the state. Today, the FBI employs more than 35,000 individuals and operates more than 56 field offices in major cities across the U.S., as well as 400 resident agencies in smaller towns, and more than 50 international offices. In addition to their “data campus,” which houses more than 96 million sets of fingerprints from across the United States and elsewhere, the FBI has also built a vast repository of “profiles of tens of thousands of Americans and legal residents who are not accused of any crime.
All of this is made possible by the agency’s nearly unlimited resources (its minimum budget alone in fiscal year 2015 was $8.3 billion), the government’s vast arsenal of technology, the interconnectedness of government intelligence agencies, and information sharing through fusion centers—data collecting intelligence agencies spread throughout the country that constantly monitor communications (including those of American citizens), everything from internet activity and web searches to text messages, phone calls and emails.
Much like the Gestapo spied on mail and phone calls, FBI agents have carte blanche access to the citizenry’s most personal information. Much like the Gestapo’s sophisticated surveillance programs, the FBI’s spying capabilities can delve into Americans’ most intimate details (and allow local police to do so, as well).
In addition to technology (which is shared with police agencies) that allows them to listen in on phone calls, read emails and text messages, and monitor web activities, the FBI’s surveillance boasts an invasive collection of spy tools ranging from Stingray devices that can track the location of cell phones to Triggerfish devices which allow agents to eavesdrop on phone calls.
Much like the Gestapo’s power to render anyone an enemy of the state, the FBI has the power to label anyone a domestic terrorist. As part of the government’s so-called ongoing war on terror, the nation’s de facto secret police force has begun using the terms “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” interchangeably. Moreover, the government continues to add to its growing list of characteristics that can be used to identify an individual (especially anyone who disagrees with the government) as a potential domestic terrorist. For instance, you might be a domestic terrorist in the eyes of the FBI (and its network of snitches) if you:
express libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
subscribe to religious views concerning the book of Revelation
exhibit Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership)
show signs of self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
expound about constitutional rights and civil liberties
fear an economic collapse
buy gold and barter items
voice fears about Big Brother or big government
read survivalist literature, including apocalyptic fictional books
believe in a New World Order conspiracy
…and so on, this list is big
The FBI’s senators will continue with amendments to legislation, related or not, until they deliver to the FBI the power it wants. Unfortunately, most Americans today, unlike their forebears, are too ignorant and uneducated to know the value of the privacy rights that our Founding Fathers put in the US Constitution. The imbeciles say nonsense such as: “I haven’t done anything wrong. I have nothing to fear.” God help the imbeciles.
If the American people were sufficiently sophisticated, they perhaps would wonder why such a large chunk of the US Senate would rather represent the FBI than the American people, their constituents who elected them to represent the people in the state, not a police power in Washington.
Why do you think there are so many US senators more responsive to the FBI’s desire for Gestapo police power than they are to the civil liberties embodied in the US Constitution?"
