Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Friday that environmentalism was becoming a “cult of climate” and filling a void left by a lack of “religious faith” as environmental activists no longer care about data.
“You may remember a writer called Michael Crichton, he was a force in American entertainment, he was a novelist, he was a movie producer, turned out a ton of top films and best-selling books, the Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, et cetera, et cetera,” Carlson, an honorary board member of the Daily Caller News Foundation, said, going on to describe a talk Crichton gave in San Francisco where he said that environmentalism had become a religion that viewed the Industrial Revolution as its original sin.
“As church attendance and self-identified religious faith have fallen off a cliff in this country, the cult of climate has grown stronger,” Carlson said.
The Biden administration canceled offshore oil and gas leases in May, imposed new regulations on onshore drilling in April and revoked a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline in January 2021. President Joe Biden promised to phase out fossil fuels during his 2020 campaign for president.
Carlson also played clips of media figures claiming that hurricanes were becoming bigger threats due to climate change, before noting that the data showed hurricanes were becoming less frequent.
“Nobody cares about data anymore; we saw that with COVID as well. Wear a cloth mask, said Fauci even as he privately admitted that cloth masks are useless to prevent the transmission of COVID,” Carlson said. “Take the COVID shot, Kathy Hochul told us, standing at a pulpit, because, and were quoting, ‘That’s what god wants.’ So once again, whatever this is, it is not science by definition, it’s religion. But despite the fact the Constitution prohibits the U.S. government from having a state religion, that now is our state religion.”
“Zealots want to punish people in the name of their faith,” Carlson added later, noting that some hospitals planned to reduce the amount of anesthesia given to surgical patients in the name of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

There is an element of inevitability in play, but it isn't about central bank bailouts, it's about Death Spirals and the collapse of unsustainable systems. The vapid discussions about "soft" or "hard" landings for the economy are akin to asking if the Titanic's encounter with the iceberg was "soft" or "hard:" either way, the ship was doomed, just as the global economy is doomed by The New Normal of Death Spirals and Speculative Frenzies.
Death Spirals are the inevitable result of entrenched interests clinging on to the status quo and thwarting any adaptation or evolution that might threaten or diminish their share of the swag-- and that includes any real change because any consequential modification has the potential to upset the gravy train.
The status quo "solution" is to borrow and blow whatever sums are needed to satisfy every entrenched interest. Filling the federal slop-trough for all the hogs now requires borrowing a staggering $1.4 trillion every year, and billions more in municipal, county and state bonds (borrowing money via selling bonds) on the local level.
This borrow and blow strategy avoids any uncomfortable discipline and difficult trade-offs: everybody gets everything they demand. This strategy looks "unsinkable" until the iceberg looms dead ahead. History suggests that fiscal and political discipline is eventually imposed by the real world in one fashion or another when diminishing returns enter a Death Spiral.
Any limit on debt is of course "impossible," just as it was "impossible" for the Titanic to sink. But history is rather implacable in this regard. The self-serving hubris of "impossible" limits on largesse tend to collapse on contact with currency devaluation, structural inflation or a systemic crisis of legitimacy that sweeps away the entire worm-eaten facade of stability.
In other words, the entrenched interests benefitting from the status quo will continue to do what worked in the past until it all implodes. The pain of discipline and modest sacrifices is too great to bear, so let's collapse the entire system.

Change follows dispute that embroiled workers, board members

James O'Keefe, the founder and main driver behind the stunningly long list of Project Veritas' video series exposing leftists and others, is out at the nonprofit organization, published reports say. The Post Millennial said O'Keefe founded Project Veritas in 2011 and "his brand of provocative journalism changed the face of investigative reporting."
Recently, the organization's video reporting had caught an official for Pfizer boasting that his company was mutating the COVID-19 virus in order to be called upon to provide a continuing stream of shots, then the official claimed he was lying when he said that. The federal government at one point raided O'Keefe's home after he decided not to run a story based on a diary left in a rental unit by Joe Biden's daughter, in which the daughter suggested there were father-daughter showers that likely were inappropriate.
The Post Millennial said, "Founder and CEO of investigative journalism organization Project Veritas is reportedly leaving the company he founded in 2011. This comes after some 16 staffers tried to oust him from the leadership of his own company, claiming, among other things, that he was difficult to work for and once even stole a sandwich, resulting in a dispute within the board of directors."
The report cited Neil McCabe of OAN who wrote of the change on Twitter, with O'Keefe delivering his resignation to the organization's office in Mamaroneck, New York. But Project Veritas' RC Maxwell said that O'Keefe in fact was removed from his post by the board. The report said 16 staffers sent complaint letter to the board several weeks ago, complaining of his "management style" and more.
"Many supporters and donors all balked at the idea that Veritas could continue without O'Keefe at the helm and prominent conservatives gave their support for O'Keefe," the report said.

What’s Done to Kids Is “Morally and Medically Appalling”

Jamie Reed didn’t want to speak up. After all, she understood the possible career ramifications for exposing the malpractice at the pediatric “transgender” clinic for which she once worked. She also knew that what gave her revelations added credibility wouldn’t protect her. To wit: Reed describes herself as a “queer,” 42-year-old woman who’s “married” to a “transman” (a female masquerading as male). But she finally felt compelled to blow the whistle because her former employer’s medical practices are, as she puts it, “morally and medically appalling.”
In fact, the doctors at the Washington University Transgender Center (WUTC) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital tacitly acknowledged that they were experimenting on kids, even as they admonished Reed to cease questioning the “medicine and the science.” As those physicians put it, frequently, “We are building the plane while we are flying it.”
Reed didn’t intend to fly by the seat of her pants, however, when taking her job at the WUTC, where she was a case manager for four years (2018- 2022). She assumed the institution’s governing philosophy — the earlier “gender dysphoria” (GD) is treated, the less anguish patients experience later on — was correct. These were experts, after all, so she supposed their conclusions were evidence-based. But Reed would come to learn differently through her position, in which she was responsible for the intake and oversight of many of the approximately 1,000 troubled youngsters “treated” during her tenure. She was shocked by the lack of formal protocols at WUTC; the center operated not by rules but rulers, in this case its doctor co-directors.
A major red flag for Reed was that while most patients exhibiting opposite-sex delusions years ago were boys, the WUTC saw a sea-change evident throughout the Western world: Suddenly, teenage girls were the majority of supposed GD patients — 70 percent at WUTC by the end of Reed’s tenure. The kicker: Sometimes, clusters of girls came in from the same high school.
Obviously, “social contagion” was at work. Girls, much more than boys, are creatures of the flock, highly influenced by peers, fads, and social pressure. This alarmed Reed, but she didn’t feel she could speak up back then; those doing so could be labeled “transphobic.”
Reed then wrote, in a recent Free Press piece:
'The girls who came to us had many comorbidities: depression, anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, obesity. Many were diagnosed with autism, or had autism-like symptoms. A report last year on a British pediatric transgender center found that about one-third of the patients referred there were on the autism spectrum. Frequently, our patients declared they had disorders that no one believed they had. We had patients who said they had Tourette syndrome (but they didn’t); that they had tic disorders (but they didn’t); that they had multiple personalities (but they didn’t). The doctors privately recognized these false self-diagnoses as a manifestation of social contagion. They even acknowledged that suicide has an element of social contagion. But when I said the clusters of girls streaming into our service looked as if their gender issues might be a manifestation of social contagion, the doctors said gender identity reflected something innate.'
Explanation? Irrational conclusions can seem very appealing to those making money off the irrationality.

SINGAPORE — On February 13, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó vehemently slammed the European Parliament, claiming, among other things, that the institution lacks any credibility amid its recent corruption scandals. In an interview with Hungary’s Kossuth Rádió, Szijjártó said that “The credibility of the European Parliament is practically zero,” elaborating that “the latest corruption issues have clearly shown that we are speaking about one of the world’s most corrupt organizations,” the news portal Vadhajtsok reported.
The foreign minister’s statements came in light of the Qatargate scandal that rocked the parliament. Earlier this month, Andrea Cozzolino and Marc Tarabella, two leftist MEPs (Members of European Parliament) from the S&D group, had their parliamentary immunities removed as the investigation into one of the bloc’s most widespread corruption scandals stepped up. The aforementioned MEPs are only two of many suspects in the scandal. Greek Vice President of the European Parliament Eva Kaili, her partner Francesco Giorgi, Italian former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri, and a lobbyist were accused of taking over €1.5 million in bribes. The largest amount, about €600,000 in cash, was discovered in the Brussels home of Panzeri.
Furthermore, Szijjártó added, “very few of the decisions, statements, and resolutions of the European Parliament have in fact helped Europe,” and decisions taken by the EU legislature were “mostly harmful to Europe.”
