Charles Lieber, Harvard University Chairman of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.
Prosecutors say Lieber agreed to conduct research, publish articles and apply for patents on behalf of China's Wuhan University of Technology in exchange for $50,000 per month and about $150,000 in living expenses.
He also received $1.5 million to establish a research lab at the Chinese University.

Remember that there were two Chinese students arrested some time ago?
Lieber's student, Zaosong Zeng stole 21 vials of bio-research and attempted to smuggle them out of the USA on a flight to China. He lied about the contents in his luggage, but later admitted he had stolen the vials from the lab at Beth Israel.

ELON MUSK - CONNECTED TO DR.LIEBER
Elon Musk says a machine to connect the human brain to computers is "coming soon."
Musk has revealed his Neuralink startup is close to announcing the first br the tech would be "brain-machine interface to connect humans and computers.
The entrepreneur took to twitter to tell followers the tech would be "coming soon", though he failed to provide details.
Neuralink was set up in '16 with the ambitious goal of developing hardware to enhance the human brain, however, little about how this will work has been made public.
The startup's website, which is advertising vacancies for 11 different jobs, describes the futuristic tech as an "ultra-high bandwidth" connection between the human brain and computers.
Mr.Musk has frequently claimed the rapid rise of artificial intelligence poses an existential risk to humanity. Such an interface, he says, is essential if humans are to compete with such tech in the future.
At the Tech Conference in '16, he said that humans risked being treated lke house pets by Al machines if a brain-computer interface was not built.
"I don't love the idea of being a house cat, but what's the solution?" he said. "I think one of the solutions that seems maybe the best is to add an Al layer."
Speaking last year on the Joe Rogan podcast, Musk said that Neuralink's tech would allow humans to "effectively merge with Al."
A paper published in Nature Nanotechnology in '15 described a concept for this connection, explaining how a flexible circuit could be INJECTED into a living brain.
"We're trying to blur the distinction between electronic circuits and neural citcuits," said the Harvard researcher DR.CHARLES LIEBER, who co-authored the study.
"We have to walk before we can run, but we think we can really revolutionize our ability to interface with the brain."
