As Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) gaveled the room to order, Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) interrupted with a formal request for a day of hearings to be run by Republicans without input from the Democratic majority. “I am furnishing you with a demand for a minority day of hearings on this subject signed by all of the Republican members of the committee, and I would request that you set this date before the committee votes on any articles of impeachment,” Sensenbrenner said. “We will confer and rule on this later,” Nadler said. A Republican Judiciary Committee aide, requesting anonymity to speak candidly about GOP strategy, said the request is not subject to Nadler’s discretion and that if the chairman declines to schedule the hearing, a point of order could be raised on the House floor against articles of impeachment. A letter sent to Nadler by GOP members of the committee, circulated by the Republican side, cited part of a House rule that allows members of the minority party to “call witnesses selected by the minority to testify with respect to that measure or matter.” “While the Chairman of the committee schedules the minority hearing, ‘his responsibility to invite the minority’s witnesses is ministerial. A Chairman cannot refuse to invite a witness because he believes the witnesses’ testimony would be impertinent,’” the letter stated. Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign manager Brad Parscale mocked the three witnesses called by Democrats Wednesday, labeling them “the Three Stooges” and “liberal Democrats” in a tweet. Parscale also sent out a video featuring footage of the three professors making critical comments about Trump and his administration. “Meet the Three Stooges, the new impeachment ‘witnesses’ the Democrats are trotting out today to continue their impeachment hoax,” Parscale said. “They’re liberal Democrats who oppose President Trump and support impeachment. Just more of the same old sham!”

It's despicable, alright, but it's not illegal. The majority party has the legal right to ramrod impeachment through the House on a majority vote, and the majority party in the Senate has the legal right to torpedo the effort in the Senate on a majority vote. And that is that. The consequences to be paid for the whole charade - which is perfectly legal - are determined by the voters at the ballot box. Does either party get punished? The Democrats are all gonna vote Democrat, the Republicans - if they have any sense - are all gonna vote Republican. And the Independents, as always, will decide the election. I'm a vocal Independent. What the Democrats have done here is not illegal. But it is a charade, a ridiculous one. And I'm sure going to punish them for it come November, 2020. As will, I expect, the majority of Independents. The Democrats were warned by We, the People, not to pull this shit. We elected Trump. If we're sick of him, we'll vote him out. We did NOT give the Democrats the House so that they could overturn our decision in the last Presidential election. Doesn't matter what they say - we have the power of decision, and we say they are wrong to have impeached Trump. They defied us, and pretended that their merely temporary political and legal power overrides our will. They'll be paid back for their arrogance in November, 2020. Trump will win big, and the Republicans will pick up seats. If the Republicans then behave like dicks, as they did when we gave them Congress along with Trump - and then the Republicans followed their OWN narrow agenda and resisted Trump - we'll throw their asses out again in 2022. Trump will win, and the Republicans will be given back the House IN ORDER TO lock-step hut-hut-hut TRUMP'S agenda through the House. When the Republicans get the House back, thanks to us Independents, it WILL NOT BE because we support the traditional Republican agenda. We rejected that when we threw them out in 2018. It will be because we rejected the Democrats for this impeachment. We SUPPORT the TRUMP agenda, and the only reason the Republicans will be given back the House is (a) to punish the Democrats, and (b) to lock-step rubber-stamp TRUMP'S agenda. Nobody has any time for any more Republican Party shit. TRUMP is the reason that the Republicans will be given another chance. We will re-elect him, and the Republicans had better rubber stamp that goddamned wall, and get behind him in dealing with the intelligence and law enforcement rogue actors, support him in the trade war and in the openings to Russia and North Korea, and generally rubber stamp Trump's agenda. THAT is what we elected in 2016, and we meant it.
I have only watched a bit of the hearing today. My blood pressure would not allow me to watch much. It certainly appears that three of the " professors " are rabid Commiecrat supporters, and the female exhibits a degree of hatred for Pres Trump. Jonathan Turley I think is the only honest one on the panel! It certainly appears to me to be very scripted and at times, appears rehearsed, just like a made for TV show. I have heard many accusations by the commiecrats, and opinions, but we have not been presented any factual evidence. Just a lot of accusations. This entire proceeding is a sham !!! I really do not think this will end well for the commiecrats !

Of course it won't end well for them. Remember, the impeachment of Bill Clinton ended badly for the Republicans too: in the very next election they had their margins reduced dramatically. Same thing will happen to the Democrats this time. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
