Bad move, based on a study by education professors Christopher and Sarah Lubienski … … who wrote in their book The Public School Advantage: Why Public Schools Outperform Private Schools which shows there’s little evidence behind the hype. Public schools are far from perfect, but even given their deficiencies, they have benefits that far outweigh those of privatized schools. Indeed, market-based educational reform, wrote the Lubienskis, is “increasingly a belief system rather than a policy theory." Students who came from higher-income families had educational resources others did not have. Also, when you take into account students’ attitudes, risky behavior, and social adjustment, all of which can be associated with public schooling, researchers came to the conclusion that there was no evidence to suggest that private schools are more effective for promoting student success than public schools.
