Here are two people who have basically been out of work for years since their sitcom was cancelled,and now it is being spun-up again and they have work,and here they are pissing off possible viewers. If it needs to be said,boycott that show and boycott all the sponsors and tell them why you are boycotting it. I think there are more fundamental problems with this show. I finally watched some of it after it had been on for some years and thought I'd look to see what it actually offers as a portrayal of American gay subculture, just to see what they're injecting in the popular culture that is supposed to be "gay content". The show is despicable and has been from its first episode. If they are so pro-gay and all, then why is the star of the show a straight dude? Are they telling us by doing this that, in fact, in a country of 350M people, they can't find one likeable and somewhat charming gay man to play the part of the lead character in a show about a gay man and his lifelong female best friend? And gay men don't actually have women as their best friends either. More often, a gay man's best friend is another gay man or ex-lover. Or it's two gay dudes who have some shared experience or they share a bar or club or what not but they are not actually attracted to each other sexually. Other than that, gay men's best friends are their sisters, or their mothers (very often), or maybe a female cousin. So you have a fake gay man and his lifelong female fake best friend in this show, moralizing about gays in society and behaving as though they are some sort of exemplars or that they are important gay cultural leaders in America. When it is all just because they were hired to be in a queer show. And they aren't gay and they do lead very conventional lives as straight people in Hollyweird which is exactly what they are. The political preachiness is just a cover for the fundamental fakeness of the entire show. Further, shows like Will & Grace depict a strange sterotyped notion of what gays are and what they do and what kind of relationships they have. And they purvey this as a kind of normalcy, both to straights who watch and even to gay people who watch. Their ideas about and expectations of gay people are shaped by these phony depictions from television. It's a straight ideology of what gayness is supposed to be, what kinds of persons - in the show or in real life - are "good gays" or "bad gays", who is a "good gay ally" and who is a "bad gay ally" and, most importantly, who is a "gay enemy". Far from being a show that is gay-friendly, Will & Grace is Hollyweird's idea of what gay people are and should be and what their straight allies are and should be. And what is supposedly funny and/or charming about gay people and/or their straight allies. The entire enterprise is fake, from beginning to end. And for Hollyweird people who enjoy publicly hating on Christians and traditional morality, it's a very preachy and smarmy show. I think that the preachiness and political elbows being thrown are the key ingredient to selling the show to the public as somehow being related to the cause of gaiety in American life. It is the preachy tone that provides the key cover to the fakery of Will (a straight man's gay man) and Grace (a fake "gay ally" and "best girl friend of a gay man") as some acceptable kind of entertainment that is in some sense about gays in America. The whole show is a pile of rather sad and outdated stereotypes. I keep wondering how Teh Gays sit back and watch this crap which is actually derogatory to gays and is extremely unrealistic in how it depicts gays and their social lives. But I suppose Teh Gays don't feel they can afford to offend Teh Hollyweird because they are cultural and political allies. Of course, some people will complain about my cynicism. I expect the same people will complain that next I'll be saying that Sex In The City was a fake too or something un-American like that. I don't understand the question,but I THINK the answer to what you are asking is that he would probably be arrested and charged as a man striking a woman. I have no idea as to the legality or correctness of those suspected charges. I am not a lawyer,and don't even play one on teebee. I THINK I remember reading that some (most? all?) male prisons in the US now have a separate section for homosexual men who are afraid of being in gen pop,and IF this is true I suspect that it would have to be the same for lesbians in women's prisons. I doubt there are very many prisoners in either,though. A homo being locked up with a bunch of straights with no access to women would be like a fish thrown into the water,so why would they complain?
