Title: The Truth About Hell (If true, is it "fair"? Why won't all souls enter The Kingdom of Heaven?)

John MacArthur is one of America's most respected Bible scholars and one of the best teachers of Scripture and Biblical doctrine.

Unlike most clergy who fear alienating their audience with the subject of Hell and Judgment, regarded as "too negative" and "too judgmental," John MacArthur fully tackles and explains the subject of Hell in great detail, without compromise.

If there is Eternal "Hell," does that mean Eternal Heaven doesn't exist either? Why one without the other? Why either? And is either "earned"?

Does the "sentence" really fit the crime"? Is Hell temporary and "remedial"? Does "Hell" seem like "excessive punishment"? (John MacArthur explains.)

"Sheol" is also discussed. As an "interim" place discussed by scripture in a state roughly described as a realm between Heaven and Hell, is it possible that its occupants given Second-Chance counseling and teachings by "Angels" or "Saints" for amending the consequences of their past life before "learning their lesson"?; Thus moving forward toward their Final (Heavenly) Destination?

Also discussed: Theories and hopes by others for a far more tolerant criteria and concept of Afterlife and Hell that are deemed to be more "fair" instead of the place of unimaginable torment and dread in a place as "Hell."

Spectacular sermon and presentation. Please stay with it -- there's a bunch unpacked. Well worth listening to every minute -- whether a believer or un-believer.

Grace To You is John MacArthur's church; At their website his sermons can be accessed via podcast, or at YouTube, where his many sermons and teaching can also be accessed. His communications skills and knowledge are amongst the best.

John MacArthur has released a Study Bible, which has been priceless in helping more clearly and concisely explain every chapter and verse of Scripture. I am grateful and blessed to have had a good friend who sent me one as a gift.

Thanks hondolt. Doubt I'll listen to 57 minutes now, but maybe later on.

I've always assumed it's because some people are just assholes.

In gradeschool, I used to tie the nuns in knots just by asking "If I eat a hamburger on Friday, why do I get the same punishment Hitler got for killing 6 million Jews?"

The worst was a lame reply like "We don't know Hitler is in Hell, honey; he might have repented and been forgiven near the end of his life."
Yeah, I call bullshit.

Thank you for posting the actual video, Hondo.

John MacArthur is a teacher and scholar of God's Word inspired by the Holy Spirit. That necessarily means he can not be PC or pander. THE truth is not only hard to find but very uncomfortable for Believers as well as Un-Believers to process.

His warning is of a subject that 99% of church preachers will NOT touch: "HELL." It's not a very popular subject, but absolutely essential to discuss if our Eternity is at stake. No compromises are allowed by God.

Comments are disabled because John MacArthur preaches only the truth, the Scriptures, the Gospel. Many who oppose The Truth, insist on creating their own way to Heaven, and refuse to open their heart and listen will be angered by this sermon. Thus some would attempt to purposely destroy and troll forums like this if allowed to "comment."

By the way -- Did you actually watch/listen to all of John MacArthur's sermon?

With what do you disagree?

With respect to you claim of "bearing of false witness against the Catholic Church," can you please cite those words and part MacArthur's sermon?

Thanks.

I've always assumed it's because some people are just assholes.

Heh...but frankly, haven't we all been on occasion? (That's actually part of the point.)

In gradeschool, I used to tie the nuns in knots just by asking "If I eat a hamburger on Friday, why do I get the same punishment Hitler got for killing 6 million Jews?"

Hilarious. And yeah, great, sensible question.

Nuns reply was actually technically correct, but highly improbable. Their biggest mistake was in not ever fully clarifying and explaining EITHER subject -- of "Meat/Friday" or the Hitler issue. That was always a big prob with RCC. Even as kids we could sense the hypocrisy and inability to back up their Authority.

I also used to ask my mother questions like that regarding to whole Meat-on-Friday RCC Rule. After we'd just eaten meatballs during one Friday, it suddenly occurred to us that we broke the Friday "Meat" rule. Mom: "Don't worry, it's on my record (tab)."

Not eating on Friday is just one more religious rite invented by man that has NOTHING to do with Salvation.

The RCC, tragically, has always confused and alienated countless millions with man-made confusion and "rules" about Salvation; This while dismissing THE entire reason for Jesus sacrifice on the Cross. No wonder many who attended the church just gave up on God.

John MacArthur on the other hand is feeding us a Truth in great detail that many have never heard in their lives. Hell for eternity exists. As does Heaven. He backs up the proof NOT by on own opinion or religious "tradition," but by the actual Word of God.

Yeah I listened to the WHOLE sermon, and thought it was very GOOD for the most part. Thanks for posting it.

Near the beginning he gets in a zinger about the Catholic Church not caring about pedophilia which is not entirely true. Like every other denomination, they're not saints.

Thanks for your honest response, impression and ...for being patient enough to listen to this in its entirety.

No person in ANY denomination is worthy of the Kingdom of God by their own self-proclaimed merit of, "But...I've been good."

With respect to MacArthur's "zinger" referring the RCC, your opinion is your opinion. It was kind of brief, kinda of soft to be considered a "zinger." I'm glad you were able to look far beyond it and seriously consider the message.

The sermon is not about any specific condemnation of any church or religion. Or even people. It was a critical reminder and warning to and for ALL against complacency and presumption. Not all of us will open our eyes upon passing to the Glory of God's Kingdom. Tragic but true.

The overlying point painstakingly scripture-based case was laid out and made by John MacArthur: Sin has become so pervasive in this society that is it generally leading many people to believe there are little to no eventual consequences or stigma for tolerating and committing sin.

We should be terrified of Hell.

"Two Paths, One Way"...(check that video out, please.)

The passion and message of this sermon should keep you riveted and shake you up. Same for everyone else. Again, Believer OR non-Believer.

The main reason most people "don't get it" is because most preachers don't possess this level of communications skills and spiritual discernment that penetrate pre-conceived notions and hardened hearts.

By the end I was stunned and awed. Still in a very good way. In a "WOW!" way.

The vast majority of Preachers fear even giving this kind of message delivered with this kind of blazing fire. John MacArthur is the General Patton of Preachers and Bible Teachers.

Despite some occasional failures over the decades, MacArthur has contributed to the intellectual substance of Protestant and evangelical churches. I think he doesn't get the credit he has deserved for his steady efforts over the years.

I am embarrassed to admit that I have been unaware of John MacArthur and his efforts until fairly recently. MUCH better to be Late then Never.

Discovering John MacArthur for me was like discovering Babe Ruth and General George Patton were still alive and well. To say I'm grateful and blessed to have discovered him and his intellectual and spiritual heft would be an understatement.

I have never seen or heard a more honest, complete, clear, more inspirational presentation of substance & style of scripture and the Gospel from anyone. Ever. There no compromising or softening the truth to make it more commercially or ecumenically palatable as was the case with Billy Graham.

To have done what John MacArthur has done for 50 years -- conveyed the nuts & bolts of scripture, God's Message and Good News -- and still retain the energy, passion and gift he does is...My goodness. And for someone his age, his physical voice is still strong. Hopefully the Lord blesses him (and us) with a lot more gas in the tank.

If he's had some failures in the past, it wouldn't surprise me. It would just prove that we're all fallible and fallen. But will and can pick ourselves up with the help of the Holy Spirit.

It's not a popular subject to those who do not believe that hell exists. Therefore it is not essential to discuss that at church gatherings.

My thoughts are why would a majority of people put their faith and trust in a community church that does not "touch" on this subject? Why would they even choose to attend a church that does not believe in this? If the majority of people would wake up to realize they are the church and god's spirit dwells within them. But the reality is they choose to put their money and faith in a false church system that has them singing sunshine while fleecing them of their minds, money and souls. The false churches are either unaware or do not care but we are the last generation to witness the falling away of the all these churches and times. This is just the beginning of the sorrows.

As MacArthur posits, IF Hell can't be discussed, neither should be Heaven; Either BOTH exist or neither exists. DO people really want to hear the truth?? Jesus indeed mentions and describes Hell repeatedly.

You're right; For the "Lukewarm" of faith, the discussion and fear of Hell *isn't* essential.

My thoughts are why would a majority of people put their faith and trust in a community church that does not "touch" on this subject? Why would they even choose to attend a church that does not believe in this?

Exactly.

Dismissing or ignoring the subject is not only NOT being honest with the Flock; It is lying by omission.

...The reality is they [The Flock] choose to put their money and faith in a false church system that has them singing sunshine while fleecing them of their minds, money and souls.

The false churches are either unaware or do not care but we are the last generation to witness the falling away of the all these churches and times. This is just the beginning of the sorrows.

Very well stated.

Prosperity and "Cheerleader" Preachers who "entertain" more than anything are mostly guilty of ignoring the essential hell-fire portion of preaching The Word. But others are just as guilty. They fear accusations of "too negative!", thus they fear congregants who'll leave and take their money with them more than The Lord's wrath.

Eternal punishment = forever dead. There is no place where the non-repentant will be living but in torture. Even Lucifer/Satan/The Serpent etc will be blotted from existence after the millenium and he proves once again that he is irredeemable.

THIS IS A TAG LINE...Exercising rights is only radical to two people, Tyrants and Slaves. Which are YOU? Our ignorance has driven us into slavery and we do not recognize it.

Exactly. And what can be more horrible than the lack of hope and relief forever?

People need to be willing to consider the possibly of Hell/Eternal Punishment; It will not be a party shared by others; It will be spent alone, in the dark forever. With knowledge of no second chance.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

God does not send his angels and disciples to entertain this generation. This generation is in deep trouble and we are witnessing His wrath all over the world. People say that if God is such a loving God he would do no such thing to hurt people. Not true. He is a loving entity and weeps for us who have turned away from Him. He sends his disciples on a mission to make people aware of who his son was and what his son died for and also for the people to realize that without faith in his son, there is no other way. Hell was meant for Satan/Lucifer. But because Lucifer has been using man to destroy one another, we are no longer innocent and therefore cannot afford to turn away from the truth. As God bears witness to those who have suffered as martyrs for that truth, we are witnessing His wrath in these last days.

This generation is in deep trouble and we are witnessing His wrath all over the world...we are witnessing His wrath in these last days.

Which will only worsen as the Deception and hatred of God and His Laws deepens. Last Days indeed.

People say that if God is such a loving God he would do no such thing to hurt people.

Such people don't understand The Word. Jesus Himself said He came into the world to create division, by the sword.

People will ultimately be indicting and convicting themselves of their own free will. And "hurting" themselves -- whether here or in the Hereafter.

He is a loving entity and weeps for us who have turned away from Him. He sends his disciples on a mission to make people aware of who his son was and what his son died for and also for the people to realize that without faith in his son, there is no other way.

Amen!

Lucifer has been using man to destroy one another, we are no longer innocent and therefore cannot afford to turn away from the truth.

True. And there is no straddling the fence these days; Either we are the Wheat or the Tares.
