(FOX NEWS) -- A Pennsylvania man who helped save several deer from a frozen lake is now facing fines after taking one of the animals home in an effort to nurse him back to health. John Stoll Jr., 54, assisted the Game Commission, Wellsville Fire Department and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources with rescue efforts when the deer fell through the ice near Gifford Pinchot Park Saturday afternoon. After one of the deer was pulled from the lake, trembling and cold, Stoll offered to take the animal home to care for it. So he loaded the small buck into his truck and took it back to his garage, York Daily Record reports. He shared video on Facebook of the deer laying down, covered in blankets, as he pets the deer. “Saved four buck from Pinchot Park today brought this guy home to save him,” he wrote on the now viral post. Stoll, a hunter, said he wanted to give the buck “a little hope” by “doing something good” for him. The buck, unfortunately, did not survive and died Sunday morning. Stoll buried the animal. "We were so devastated that he didn't make it," he said. Now, Stoll faces two fines. One could be as much as $800. According to the Game Commission’s website, “wildlife taken alive may not be retained alive, sold, or given away. Live wildlife may be relocated to a natural setting.” Stoll claims no one told him he couldn’t take the deer when he was at the lake. "If they didn't want me to take that deer, why didn't they didn't they come to my house right as soon as I got home?” Stoll said. Stoll said an online fundraiser has been set up to help him cover the costs, but he plans to donate part of the proceeds to an organization that helps animals.

The buck either is strong enough to survive ON ITS OWN... or it’s food for another species. There is no compassion when it comes to a species surviving. Compassion is a weakness... and the tree hugging fucking fruit that interfered with nature, should be kicked in his nut sack until his nose bleeds OR he mentally toughens up. Government is in the last resort the employment of armed men, of policemen, gendarmes, soldiers, prison guards, and hangmen. Compassion isn't a weakness. It is a virtue. That is just dumb. There is nothing wrong with rescuing a deer. I rescued a raccoon once. A baby one on a job. We kept it for a pet for a few weeks before releasing it in the wild.
And it later died because you enabled it to rely on another. You were it’s EBT card.

That is just dumb. Kindness is also a “virtue”... but given to the wrong person, is a weakness. Like picking up a hitchhiker... and 5 minutes into the ride, you’re shot in the head. A week later, the hitchhiker is staying at a motel ordering pizza... from the cash of your wallet. Don’t be dumb.

I had it for two or 3 weeks. I taught it to fish and raid trash cans. It didn't die on my watch. I released in the woods in an apple tree by a river.
Unfortunately, you taught it that it didn’t need to fish and raid trash cans... since for 3 weeks you fed it like Obama fed the potatoes in the inner city. For every coon squashed in the road by a car, a new coon is born. Same in the urban jungle.

I gotta ask... why is that important? It’s a freaking wild animal, lower on the food chain than you... with a life expectancy of 2-3 years in the wild. Do you think a shark (who in the ocean is higher on the food chain than you) would nurse you back to health and release you on shore, should it find you injured and bleeding in the ocean? Then ask yourself... what species will survive longer on this rock? lol

Baby racoons rely on their mother anyway, that's the natural way. Stone was a surrogate mother for a couple of weeks because the real one was not around, He protected it from predators and fed it, preforming the same functions as a mother as best he could. It's not welfare to take care of babies whether human, or raccoon. Even macho GI must have relied on handouts when it was a baby. According to your logic that makes you WEAK. And you're still sucking on the .gov teat, so not much has changed.
