Actor Stoney Westmoreland has been dropped from his recurring role on the Disney Channel show “Andi Mack” after being arrested by police in Salt Lake City, according to a Disney Channel statement.
A probable cause affidavit states Westmoreland, 48, used a dating app to chat with someone he believed to be a 13-year-old boy. The affidavit goes on to state the actor used the app to send explicit pictures and to arrange a meeting for sex.
When Westmoreland arrived at the arranged spot, he was arrested by Salt Lake City Police and members of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force. Salt Lake City Police records show Westmoreland was arrested last week for attempting to entice, seduce or lure a minor by internet or text and is facing four counts of dealing in materials harmful to minors.
“Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week,” said the Disney Channel statement.
CNN was unable to reach Westmoreland for comment Sunday or determine whether he has retained an attorney.
Westmoreland had appeared in 38 episodes of “Andi Mack” as Ham Mack, the main character’s grandfather. The show, entering its third season, is a coming-of-age comedy-drama following the middle-school adventures of a 13- year-old girl and her friends. The series is filmed in Utah.
Westmoreland has also appeared in eight episodes of the show “Scandal” as Secret Service agent Hal Rimbeau, as well as the series “NCIS,” “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” according to IMDB.

No. We should have fenced communities or islands where they can live, not in jail, just with adults. Jail is too expensive, and killing people for statutory rape (or any rape) is excessive and not right.

Yes, I would kill him on the spot. And I would hope that the law was merciful after ("crime of passion" as opposed to first degree murder). But crimes of rage at something as it is occurring are not the same thing that should come out of a deliberative justice system. Example: Some belligerent guy on the street who bullcharges the cops, and they shoot him. If he dies, do I want the cops charged with murder in such a case? No. You don't know what's going to happen in an assault, there's not a lot of time to decide things. The cops reasonably protected themselves from a potentially deadly assault. But if he lives and is prosecuted, I want him prosecuted for assault, not murder or attempted murder. Because yeah, an assault with fists CAN kill people in some circumstances, but I don't want us after-the-fact, judicially, when we are in control of the situation and can deliberate on the facts (unlike the cops on the battle-line who have to decide RIGHT NOW), to have the death penalty for simple assault. Yes, if somebody is in the process of committing a rape, I have no problem with the victim or some rescuer attacking the guy in a way that is likely to kill him, to stop the rape and make him incapable of getting up and fighting. And if he gets killed, he assumed the risk of getting killed by indulging in rape. But I don't want the judicial process to impose the death penalty for rape. For one thing, our government does justice and law very badly (e.g.: the OJ Trial). Even God did not impose the death penalty for rape.
