President Donald Trump is personally responsible for a wave of mental instability across the American left that will be beyond the healing reach of even the most experienced psychiatrists. Trump Derangement Syndrome is seen regularly on cable news, Capitol Hill, and even, if you believe recent stories, on mental health couches from sea to shining sea. (Although we suspect most of those couches are located rather closer to the sea than the center). And it has most definitely infected Vox’s Matthew Yglesias, who wrote an entire 1,200-word column this week about how we should change the U.S. Constitution so that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, “the biggest star in the Democratic Party,” can run for president in 2020. Just read: The constitutional prohibition on people under the age of 35 serving as president is just one of these weird lacuna that was handed down to us from the 18th century but that nobody would seriously propose creating today if not for status quo bias. Realistically, most people that young would simply have a hard time winning an election. But if you can pull it off, you should be allowed. And I kind of think she should run for president. One good sign that AOC should run for president is that she has a nickname — AOC. A House Democratic staffer told me the other day that “ACO” was a good example of something, and I knew exactly who she meant despite the error because there aren’t any other members of Congress who have widely recognized nicknames that you would just drop into casual conversation. Is having a nickname a sign that you would exercise good judgment in the Oval Office? Absolutely not. But it’s proof positive that she’s an honest-to- goodness political superstar, and it’s clear that’s what many Democrats are looking for in 2020. They are seeking an antidote to Trump’s magnetic stage presence and ability to command attention, and she has that in greater quantities than anyone else in the field — certainly more so than Beto O’Rourke, a similarly experience-light candidate whom many Democratic operatives are pushing in a quest to capture some Bright Young Thing magic. Whoa. Next time some liberal says something snide about “Cult 45,” point them in the direction of this article, where a prominent voice on the left is seriously arguing that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should run for president because she has a nickname. Apparently it did not occur to Yglesias that she has that nickname solely because no one wants to take the time to spell out that ridiculously long name. If this is where the Democratic Party voters are moving, we have to say we’re in excellent shape heading into 2020. While left-wing pundits are gushing over their party’s newest dimbulb congresswoman, Trump is going to obliterate whatever obnoxious personality they finally vault to the nomination. We know this much – it won’t be “AOC.” But damn, we kinda wish that it would be…
Poster Comment: Why does the Left stop there with their fundamental transformation of America. Why not make it such that we never have another election and they will choose their leaders from the Communist party? Oh and we can have a gestapo deep state run by Comey... And the IRS can throw all dissident conservatives into debtors labor camps... And Google can brainwash the people by suppressing all information that is bad for the party... (Just like they do in China) AND people that dislike 0zero will be shot and dumped into a shallow grave....oops, probably shouldn't have made that last suggestion
