It has been 50 years this week since Franklin appeared as the first black character in the Peanuts comic strip, an addition intended as a political statement by creator Charles Schulz. Four years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 put an end to segregation, Franklin took his place alongside Charlie Brown, who in case anybody doesnt know is white. But on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, Roy Wood Jr. pointed out how Franklin went from a political statement in the strip to a racial stereotype in the cartoons, and he had clips to back up his claim.
In one clip from 1992, four of the characters are doing the Hokey Pokey before a baseball game. Franklin enters carrying a boombox on his shoulder and wearing a backward hat, and starts dancing and rapping. Wood said, Why couldnt Franklin just do the Hokey Pokey, Trevor? You telling me black kids cant put [their] left foot in and take [their] left foot out? It looked like Franklin was auditioning for House Party 2.
In an earlier clip, from 1984, Franklin and one of his black friends, again with a boombox, are break dancing on the sidewalk. In another, this one from 1972, white kids are shaking hands with Snoopy at what appears to be a birthday party. But when it got to Franklin, they slap hands. And in the 1973 Thanksgiving special, Franklin is sitting by himself on one side of the table, while all the other kids and Snoopy sit on the other side.
So Wood had just one request for future Peanuts cartoons: The cartoon should honor the original revolutionary spirit of Franklin. If you are going to make him rap, do it right, Jones said.
They then cut to the clip in which Franklin is rapping, only not to the original music. This time its s to This Is America, Childish Gambinos scathing critique of gun violence and race relations in the U.S. today.
Maybe he'd prefer if Schulz had Franklin get a skin bleaching so he could be just like the white kids, equal in every way so you couldn't tell that he was black.
In any event, Schulz is a product of his generation so he should be judged by his generation, and not by the new PC/millennial generation. I remember my grandmother, who was born over 100 years ago talking about "colored people". I guess she was racist too.
Smug, racist half-white South African Commie is a self-loathing punk and societal arsonist. HE is the one who is "privileged" -- His daddy was "French" tennis player Yannick Noah, who was a smug A-Hole himself. The rotten apple didn't fall far from the fake "Black" tree.

The irony is...Trevor Noah (definitive British name btw), is the privileged mixed race son of rich "French" tennis player Yannick Noah.
This guy's Peanuts spiel and diss of Schultz is just more petty bulls*** to feed it's dopey brainwashed zombie audience. How does one take it or him seriously?? Only zombified morons do.

Yup. Your Gramma is considered "GUILTY". Right -- MANY our parents routinely referred to blacks as "colored"; Even blacks did (until Jesse Jackson clarified the hyphenated matter for us, advising us that they are "African-Americans" /s)
Look -- these people are deranged. Clinically. The Left is attempting to normalize insanity and hate. BY them FOR us.
The Dem-Left-Libs are already going after, judging and indicting George Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and ALL the Founders hard, selling the verdict as "Guilty-of-being-white".
The Peanuts charge is nothing but another lie and pin-prick or one of a thousand cuts by which the Left hopes to kill America, Christianity, Whitey, Capitalism, etc. They just keep on trying to divide & conquer the USA a(and entire West) with this globalist NWO/Commie propaganda.
Like all "Late Nite Comedy" these days, "comedy" is NOT the bottom line; PC, Hate-Politics, and Character-Assassination of "normal and sane" IS.

First it was negro, then it was "colored" (I.e. the "C" in "NAACP" stands for "colored" unless they've formally change their name to "NAAAAP" -- which is an acronym that, quite humorously, may well be considered racist in of itself!), then it was "Black" and now that's not good enough either. New moniker is "African-American" which would in fact include, by definition, the native whites in South Africa and everywhere else Africa, including Egyptions who are not, in my opinion black). When a culture keeps changing the name of a race every few generations, you know it is just a practice of changing labels once the old label takes on negative connotations having nothing to do with the label itself.
If a South African white guy came to the US and completed paperwork indicating his ethnicity as "African-American" I wonder what would happen?
No, when people change "Black" to "African American", as I see it, they are in fact trying to erase "Black" from the equation. And by doing that, they are implicitly making a statement that there's something wrong with being black, that it's something to be ashamed of. So who are the real racists?
Just like the piece says, anyone who puts racial tag on anyone else is racist. The term African is racist, the term Asian is racist, the term Italian is racist, should I go on. Either a person is American or they are not.
