Bang / Guns Title: Suspected Walmart robber tries to carjack two different cars, both drivers pull out guns According to Fox 30, Jacksonville police officers arrested 36-year-old Christopher Raymond Hill, charging him with strong-arm robbery, carjacking with firearm or deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and trespassing. Detectives said the incident began when Hill robbed a Walmart liquor store, and attempted to flee in a silver Ford SUV. However, witnesses said the vehicle would not start, so he first tried to carjack Scott Reardean at knifepoint, cutting him on his arms and legs. “I reached in between my glove box and my console, between my seats, reached down and got my weapon and brandished it for him,” Reardean told WJXT. “He was like, ‘Don’t shoot me.’ I was like, ‘Then get out of here.’” Hill then jumped into the passenger seat of a woman’s car in a Starbucks drive-thru. Police said the woman got out of her car and grabbed a pistol from her trunk, pointing it at Hill until he ran off. Reardean said he was glad he had his gun with him for self-defense. “These guys can talk about banning assault rifles and banning guns, but when it comes and happens to them, they’re going to wish they had one,” Reardean told the station. Ultimately, police found Hill inside the bathroom of a Supercuts, where he surrendered. According to an arrest report, Hill told police, “The reason I was running and did this was because somebody was after me.” Hill is currently being held on a bond of $91,512. #2. To: Hank Rearden, misterwhite, GrandIsland (#1) Where's that baby-fascist piece of shit David Pigg's comment for this story? Camera Hogg recently announced how much he hates politics. Some tittering ensued. I was more interested in the sheer hard-luck-case aspect of this story. What are the chances that you try to carjack two different cars and the owner pulls a gun on you both times? Well, there are numbers available. Florida has about 21 million people as of 2017. And there are a bit under 1.8 million active CCW permits in Florida. So any crook would have a 8.5% chance of running into a CCW gunowner in Florida if they were confronted while committing a crime against a person. However, it is not clear in this case that there were any CCW permits held by either gunowner. One pulled a gun from the console area between the seats, the other jumped out and pulled out a gun from the trunk. No info available that either was a CCW permit holder. Maybe they were but neither pulled a concealed gun on the wannabe carjacker. Sometimes bad people do have rotten luck. I notice he was already saying "people are after me". My guess is he'll resort to an I'm-crazy defense. It'll probably fail as it almost always does if the prosecutor is competent.

That's roughly 1 in 12 people. So the odds of running into two armed people in a row are 1 in 144 - tough shit for the crook to have luck like that.

Well, like I said before, the article doesn't say that either was a CCW permit holder. He pulled a gun from the console, she pulled a gun out of the trunk. I know that Florida does have a reputation for being heavily armed, perhaps even more than Texas.
