A crocodile has killed a Protestant pastor who was baptising followers near a lake in southern Ethiopia.
Docho Eshete was conducting the ceremony for about 80 people on Sunday morning at Lake Abaya in Arba Minch town's Merkeb Tabya district.
Residents and police told BBC Amharic a crocodile leapt from the water during the baptism and attacked him.
Pastor Docho died after being bitten on his legs, back and hands.
"He baptised the first person and he passed on to another one. All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and grabbed the pastor," local resident Ketema Kairo told the BBC.
Despite huge efforts, fishermen and residents could not save pastor Docho, policeman Eiwnetu Kanko said.
They used fishing nets to prevent the crocodile from taking the pastor's body into the lake.
The crocodile escaped.

BTW,you KNOW people are lazy when they have had firearms for a couple of hundred years,and crocks are still eating their children.
Not to mention they still don't have running water and have to bathe and wash their clothes in water with crocs swimming in it.

The first requires a lot of courage, the second requires some material gifts as people there are very poor.

Unfortunately, Hondo is extremely misguided and has issues. No real Catholic familiar with the Gospel would celebrate this terrible event.

Let me state the obvious for you twos benefit - find some water without crocs for your religious events!
You won't find anything in the Bible about groups jumping into a suicidal situation, and God will save you. This guy is not a lot different from a Islamic belt bomber, he's headed to commit suicide, and take lots of people with him.
No 72 virgins await this prot numbskull.

I'm delighted that they were spared and given the opportunity to repent and seek out a pro-life church.
I wonder how many that pastor converted to Catholicism with his crocodile stunt? Pope Francis might even write up a paper on the parable of the pastor and the croc, who knows.

Sounds to me like you stayed awake in Sunday school to get this spot on. Prophet Daniel was saved by the grace of God after he was being put to the test by those who wanted to deliver him to the lions.
