Title: New York Daily News hits new low with disgusting Jerusalem embassy opening cover

An opinionated tabloid cover can be effective, but only if the point made is so obvious that an entire audience can see and relate to it. It also helps if it is humorous and has a witty headline. What it's not is garbage that looks as though it comes straight from fake news, or compares apples to oranges in the name of promoting the propaganda of some unhappy terrorist group.

With the Jerusalem embassy opening, the Daily News has ventured well into the second category in its cover and is completely disgusting. President Trump's favorite daughter, Ivanka Trump Kushner, who is an Orthodox Jewish convert, was sent to Jerusalem for the U.S. embassy opening. Rather than focus on the historic occasion, which is all about the U.S. and its effort to honor its top ally in the Middle East, it drags in some utterly unrelated issue, way out in a hellhole like Gaza, where a bunch of Islamist maniacs linked to the terror group Hamas apparently threw Molotov cocktails and assorted bombs and got several dozen of their numbers killed, apparently because they were aggressive and because they used their own women and children as human shields. It was the using and expending of live humans for propaganda purposes to get out some sort of sob story about their desire to destroy Israel and make us all sympathetic. Maybe they were unhappy about the embassy or something, or trying to upstage the happy occasion of the U.S. embassy opening with more TV images of themselves screaming and contorting themselves and looking unkempt. One can assume they want something – perhaps the annihilation of the Jewish state – but nobody knows. And since they do this all the time, nobody except Trump-hating leftists cares, either.

The bottom line is that they staged some sort of predictable-as-daylight killing of themselves, and somehow that's supposed to be connected to Ivanka Trump, who was there for the ribbon-cutting of the far more important U.S. embassy opening. Ivanka, as it happened, was a splendid representative.

But because these two unrelated events happened in the same time period, the Daily News decided to headline its cover with an absolutely nasty, disgusting headline calling Ivanka Trump a ghoul, as if Ivanka had anything, anything at all, to do with terrorists staging some spectacle intended to make us coo over them.

Well, we aren't. We don't want to hear about the maniacs. We don't believe in giving publicity to publicity hounds, and we don't want to hear about their self-barbarism, either. We wanted to see Ivanka, and the Daily News went to the bathroom all over her picture, trying to pin something on her that she had nothing to do with, all out of an appalling spitefulness against President Trump.

Maybe a good reader response will shake them out of the pit they seem to have dug for themselves, because I sure won't.

So many claims about Israel being an "ally", but in cold terms, they offer nothing of value to the USA. Nothing economic, nothing strategic. Strategically, Israel is only a liability to the USA. If it didn't exist, I could only imagine our relationship with all of the other various countries there would be much better. And 911 probably wouldn't have happened either (assuming the official narrative there).

The USA is expending massive resources to keep a tiny country there afloat in a massive sea of Muslims that don't want them there. If Germany was the country that did them so much harm, then Jews should have been given a region from Germany to be their homeland. Based on their current holocaust denial laws, it seems German's would not be protesting Jews like Muslims are.

Whatever the fault of Germans against Jews in WWII, the Muslims had nothing to do with that. But whatever their shortcomings are, and they have them, Muslims had no say in being given Israel for a neighbor.

I guess I'm kinda sick of the whole mess.

I guess I'm kinda sick of the whole mess.

We all are.

The solution is not found in ideology or in right and wrong moralizing. That just means more and more and more bloodshed and expense forever.

No, the solution is found in fierce pragmatism. This is an eminent domain situation. Rightly or wrongly, Israel is THERE, and strong, and the previous tenants are in the way, and have to go. There can be no peace, for any of us, while those people are there. They have been dispossessed, and that was wrong. Just as it was wrong for Americans to sweep the Indians away, for the Presbyterians to drive the Catholics out of Ulster, and for the developers to get the New Haven neighborhood where Kelo lived in the eponymous court case.

But it is done, and it cannot be undone.

Therefore, treat it as an eminent domain case. About 5 million people have been dispossessed by a state action. They live in the West Bank and Gaza It wasn't just, but that's not the issue. The issue is: how do we stop the bloodshed and the endless expense.

And the way we do that is to divvy up that 5 million people between the other 50 Muslim majority countries. 22 of them speak Arabic, so if resettlement is made to just those lands, the culture shock and difficulty of transferring people will be greatly reduced. Palestinian families are larger than most. With an average of 5 members per family, that 1 million family units that need to move.

To resettle them there, you have to provide an economic incentive to the various states of their destination, and to them as families to set themselves up there.

Looking at housing prices across North Africa, the Persian Gulf and Indonesia, and assuming that the "relocation package" would include family housing, we are speaking on the order of $200,000 per family.

So, to completely resettle all of the West Bank's and Gaza's Muslim Palestinians in Arab-speaking Muslim lands would cost the world about $200 billion.

Since 1948 we've given $135 billion to Israel. And we've given $80 billion to Egypt. That's just us. The Soviets poured money into Egypt (to help them fight Israel). We've also poured money into a bunch of other states, and into the Palestinians themselves - all because of this bleeding sore of an issue.

France, Britain, Germany and others have poured in billions. The oil Arabs have poured billions into the fight.

EVERYBDOY is sick of it, but we'll spend all that again, going forward, unless we fix the problem.

Ideology and right and wrong can't fix this. Pragmatism is required. Bite the bullet, relocate the Palestinians - by force if necessary - across the Arab-speaking Muslim world. Buy out their claim through eminent domain. Get them set up abroad in good housing and settled in jobs, lance the boil and get it done.

The whole world pays for it: the US, Europe, the oil Arabs, the UN - everybody pitches in, and we get it done, and there is peace.

That's how you really END the nonsense. Otherwise, we pay and pay and pay for the rest of our lives, and they bleed and bleed and bleed.

The solution is actually very simple. Israel owns a tiny sliver of territory. Let them keep that.

Problem over.

The solution is actually very simple. Israel owns a tiny sliver of territory. Let them keep that.

Problem over.

No, it's not that simple.

There are 5 million other people, living in desperation and poverty, in the land the Israelis control. And the Israelis gained control over that land and those people as the result of wars with all of the neighbors.

There is a titanic clash of religions, and there are 50 Muslim nations in the United Nations, including the set of nations that contain the oil supply of both Europe and Asia - and those Muslim nations, therefore, have a great big say in things, they are part of the reason Israel is isolated.

I'm not saying anything that anybody doesn't know. It is not a SIMPLE situation at all. Ignoring the Palestinians means that the United States alone will spend a trillion dollars on just that issue over the next 30 years.

This is not an issue that is going to go away without resolving the security and poverty issues of BOTH sides, because BOTH sides have huge allies and interests.

IF Israel gets to keep all of the land and have it's way there, THEN something needs to be done about, and with, the 5 million (and growing) Palestinians, because the world will no more sit there and let that happen FOREVER than we tolerated slavery forever, or South African apartheid forever.

Israel is only a sympathetic nation to Jews, who are not numerous, and certain kinds of Christians, whose numbers are not growing anywhere near as fast as the numbers of people worldwide sympathetic to the Palestinians.

This problem is an infection. It doesn't go away. It causes a lot of pain and flares up. And it could become a life threatening illness.

If the solution is Israel gets the land (and that really IS part of the solution), then something must be done to compensate and resettle 5 million (and growing) Muslim Palestinians.

That's the real problem.

Do you realize how many times the Israels have tried to be nice about this. It has never worked.

It doesn't matter. These are two people who hate each other, for a great number of reasons that are uninteresting to me. I've got two false religions, by a set of cousins in a culture to which I am unrelated - and they BOTH think they are superior creatures because of their ethnicities. I don't think that there are superior or inferior "races", but I sure don't like a lot about either of the contending cultures or their respective religions.

If I didn't have a bunch of yahoo religious fanatic countrymen obsessed with fairy tales about those people and their religion and cultures, I would think of Israel/Palestine the same way I do of China/Tibet. It's a shame. It's far away. I have sympathy. But I have no money or arms or time to really try to do anything about it.

I wish it were so regarding the Arabs and Israelis - I wish I could think of the Israelis as the Chinese and the Palestinians as the Uighurs or the Tibetans.

Unfortunately, there's so much religious fanaticism in America, and so much power politics here as a result of it, and so much oil - which of interest to everybody in the world - in the Arab countries, that I am not afforded the luxury of just ignoring the whole situation. My OWN COUNTRYMEN won't let me, either because they're obsessed with Jews, or obsessed with oil, or obsessed with being big swingin' imperialist dicks.

So there we are.

I want it DONE, and I know that fanatics who really believe they have a land claim - and the right to kill over it - because of an old book, are not going to give an inch, and my own people are gonna drag me back to this pool of vomit to deal with.

They can't cohabit the land: they hate each other.

They need to be separated.

That will end the war, and the cost, and the bloodshed. So that should be done.

Won't be, though.
