Bang / Guns Title: Cancel your Bank of American credit cards easily over the phone It's easy. Just dial 800-732-9194 and tell them you want to cancel your BoA CC immediately. They will ask why,so make sure you tell them it is about BoA's decision to support gun control. No,you do NOT have to pay your cards off before you cancel them. You will still owe the money, you just won't be able to charge anything to your former CC account. I just did this a few minutes ago and got a message about "a short wait of 4 to 6 minutes due to the unusually high amount of calls being received",but I don't think it took that long before a pleasant sounding woman answered the phone, asked me why I was cancelling my card after 3 years, and just said "OK,thank you, your card will be cancelled effective today." after I told her why. She said they would be sending me a letter within 24 hours to verify my account has been closed. To: sneakypete (#0) (Edited) I think it would be better to cut your card in half and then send them a nice, hand-written Eff You letter to the company. I did this for my AMEX card several years ago and I hope the employees put my letter on the bulletin board in the lunch room.
#3. To: Fred Mertz (#2) (Edited) I think it would be better to cut your card in half and then send them a nice, hand-written Eff You letter to the company. That's Stage 2. First I want to get their official letter in my hand that states my account there has been closed and my credit card is no longer vaid.
BTW,they warned me on the phone that if I do close the account it will be closed forever, and that I would never be able to open an account with them again. I'm confused. Was that supposed to be some sort of threat? In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments. #4. To: sneakypete (#3) It's worth it. I felt really great after mailing the letter. FWIW, I went on a 26 day cruise and was away from my home for 30 days. I knew I'd be a few days late with my snail mail payment (in full). I received a form letter. We're a number, not a human being. I was thrown into the deplorables/undesirables bin with a form letter telling me I'd be in their 29.9% interest category - usually reserved for 20-year-old college students. Fred Mertz Eff those MFers!
#5. To: sneakypete (#0) Now I wish I had a BoA card so I could cancel it like you did. This is the only kind of action that can deter their political agenda. Hit them in the wallet. They're betting, of course, that not that many on the Right will actually do this. I'm hoping they're wrong and that more on the Right will start to boycott these liberal corporations full of Lefty leadership. I'm afraid they've made the right bet though, that the Right won't make them pay the price for mixing their politics with business.
#6. To: Tooconservative (#5) (Edited) Now I wish I had a BoA card so I could cancel it like you did. All you have to do is get one,and then once it comes in and you activate it,call them up before you charge anything against it and tell them you want to cancel it because you have been made aware of their gun control policies. A note will be made why the card was cancelled, and it will have the same impact as if you had the card for years. In FACT it will have more impact because it costs them money to create an account, mail you a card, pay the phone staff to answer and activate your card, and then pay more phone staff to cancel your card and send you the cancellation letter. ALL without them earning a single damn penny in interest. And it is making an impact. I called them on a Wednesday afternoon and got a recorded message asking me to be patient because I was going to be put on hold "due to the unusually high volume of telephone calls today". Wednesday afternoon, middle of the month when most monthly retirement checks have came in and bills have been paid, and their phone lines are jammed.Yeah, there is something going on. In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.
