Seasteading: Floating Cities To Liberate Humanity From Politicians Are Here

Sorry to say this, but politics has existed since before fire was discovered, and will always follow any form of civilization, whether floating or land based.

One thing floating nations could possibly offer though is the ability for citizens to quit one and join the other. So long as they bring their own floating domicile to link up to the rest, there's little reason one such country would have to refuse entry. Or perhaps attachment would be a better word. And if there's one area of global politics that might be an improvement, it would be the ability for citizens to quit one country and join another. As is, governments enjoy a monopoly of forced loyalty by those who happen to be born within it's borders. Give people the ability to vote with their feet, or in this case their paddles, and thereby give governments a need to compete for citizens, and we might see governments actually give a whit about their citizens well being.

Certainly with land based countries there's a strong reason to keep out foreigners, but with a sea-based "bring your own land" type of situation, it could be quite different.

Here is one way out of the global mess.

FOR WHO? The Pay Pal owner and a bunch of rich, queer elites?? We can run but we can't hide.

BUT...How many problems can we spot?

FLOATING?? Chyeah. Until the first yuge wild sea storm. Those sea walls will be breached easily.

What about sewage, trash removal (people + things)? All self-contained? (UNTIL all systems -- man and machine -- break down or people decide they don't like the current system.)

Ok, lets assume the project actually gets built; The VERY first thing these kinds of fake libertarian crusaders must do is set up a perimeter of lethal warships. If not, expect plenty of pirates to raid their private little Utopia (where everyone does as they please, there are few rules and enforcement, everything runs itself, there are no are no "Supervisors" or "Boss" or "Crews." And apparently everyone is on the "Honor System.")

The artist's rendering also didn't include the heavily-armed high guard towers. If ANYTHING, this is a glorified Devils Island (Please see the excellent flick, 'Papillon')

Who doesn't see this Snowflake Island scheme winding up as THE Pedo-Island in ANY case? A REAL prison. AND Hell.

As to style points, it appears no different than that failed Muzzie array of sterile island-ettes built off of Saudi Arabia or Qatar.

One is better off living like Sonny Crockett on a houseboat, FREE to come and go as you please.

Yup. EXACTLY.

ALL society/"civilization" REQUIRES a leader and leadership. Leadership = Organizers of COMMON/SET RULES = "POLITICS."

If not, all we have is...Anarchy.

Even the most Libertarian among us must concede RULES are needed. OVERSEERS/SUPERVISORS/LEADERS are needed.

One thing floating nations could possibly offer though is the ability for citizens to quit one and join the other. So long as they bring their own floating domicile to link up to the rest, there's little reason one such country would have to refuse entry. Or perhaps attachment would be a better word.

Wouldn't International Maritime Laws apply?

If it floats, it's technically a Naval vessel (even IF this Utopian Floating Island declares itself "Sovereign.") It would require official permission from its host sovereign nation to dock or attached itself to the host nation.

I could see reasons to deny entry. For one, obstruction of shipping routes; Obtrusive to host-nation natives; "Politics" (ironically)...

And if there's one area of global politics that might be an improvement, it would be the ability for citizens to quit one country and join another.

Yes...it's a nice sentiment or option. But...we can run but we can't hide. And don't you think the "citizenship" aboard such an exclusive Utopian Island might be rather pricey?

Give people the ability to vote with their feet, or in this case their paddles, and thereby give governments a need to compete for citizens, and we might see governments actually give a whit about their citizens well being.

I really think it's way too late for that; The US appears to be the last great stand for freedom that we humans can make. But given we are humans, we can't tolerate freedom. The suicidal West and fascist-Communist Democrat Party proves it.

I would have LOVED this idea. About 50 years ago. Back when I dreamt of a domed Martian or Moon Colony. This just isn't feasible of plausible. Plus it's merely an excuse for the rich/elite to (as I suggest) use the facility for unscrupulous activities.

The reality of the problems of such a place are overwhelming.

Can you address what I described as potential problems?

Not many are happy with the current state of "Politics". But you've got to expound on your context a bit more than that. Your statement is too ambiguous and open to multiple interpretation.

Instead of a large and ever-expanding bureaucracy that has distanced itself from the electorate, we can maintain a small proportionate ethic of servicing that is streamlined to exactly what we need or ... want. Governance works exactly through and about us without piles of do-nothing bureaucracies that are largely ineffective and inefficient. These cellular ideas for the future of and about goverance make a lot of sense.

I appreciate the principle, which most resembles the American Founders' ideals.

The embracing of that concept of true representative gummint seems to have passed long ago.

Most of our Founders preferred more State/Local autonomy rather than the current Centralized Feral Gummint leviathon. We can blame Lincoln and Wilson and the Globalists for what's become of us.

Best we can hope for is strictly Blue State/Local conservative governance.

Let me be perfectly blunt. AGAIN.

These exclusive, elite "Utopian Islands" for the Rich, The Arrogant, The militant God-less, The Queer (like the Pay Pal owner) will wind up as THE Elites' "Pedo Islands" IMO; Satanist/Occultist Sex Prisons for children.

THIS is exactly why they boast of "politics" as their enemy.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Why and where do you think the rich freaks hang out with that Epstein character?

Ignorance is bliss.

Are you oblivious to the events and people related to Epstein's "Pedo Island" and the evil activities of rich, the powerful, The Elites (who happen to have been our governing overlords)? Do yourself a favor and do a cursory investigation.

My observation and cynicism is based on the propensity of my fellow man, who narcissisticly and inevitably plots his course for depravity.

I was prepared to point out most of that myself, but you pretty much had it covered.

I will only add that the only people attracted to that lifestyle will be the parasitic wealthy offsprungs of rich parents that grew up in gated, guarded communities.

Everybody else wants to live free, not like a pampered pet in a cage.

In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.
