But if you send "email" via a third party like NRA, it can be filtered out. Your rep's office will be able to filter these by their NRA source. So your letter is more likely to get read if you write to your pol directly or via their .gov website.
Many times, the reason orgs like NRA (or whoever) want to "help" you send these emails is so they can build up their own valuable email list and record what you wrote to your congressional representative in your own words. Valuable info.
I've been told that the communications that get the most attention are the handwritten letters. If you sit down and take the trouble to write and put a stamp on it, that's a lot more effort than just some email or a phone call or text or tweet. It's more personal. And a handwritten letter, especially with decent penmanship, conveys something personal to the reader.
