#29. To: buckeroo (#26) I think they think they are in heaven, they wear crowns there
#30. To: paraclete (#29) For what little it is worth, I think they are pile of bullshitters, crown or no crown.
#31. To: buckeroo, stage props (#30) I think they are pile of bullshitters, crown or no crown. They have goons at the door checking that all weapons are unloaded, and a zip tie installed on the receiver to prevent the bolt closing. NOT my kind of church! You can see the zip ties sticking out in some of the pictures.
#32. To: hondo68 (#31) Yes apparently they are realists who recognise the risk of weapons in that environment.
#33. To: paraclete, sheep to the slaughter (#32) (Edited) apparently they are realists who recognise the risk of weapons in that environment. They're idiots who learned nothing from the church shootings in South Carolina and Texas. The significant risks come from being neutered disarmed sheeple, like Australians.

Oddly, we are not at risk from the gun, we managed the risk and declared never again. This does not mean we are unarmed, however weapons are not freely available to the criminal class, and this is borne out by the odd assortment of weapons found when they are raided. Interestingly we haven't had any assassinations either Look I sympathise with you, you have some very dangerous animals on your continent and even more among your population and in your government. We used the gun once to oppose government and the result was not the glorious revolution and civil war they might have hoped for, but ignominious defeat. Having lost america the British had no intention of losing Australia. We therefore understand that outcomes have to be wrought by different means.

Make a thread describes with more factual detail about the considerations you are attempting to allude to. Are you suggesting that the British maintained a larger and more potent army/navy defense posture in Australia as a result of their outright defeat in America?
#41. To: buckeroo (#36) Are you suggesting that the British maintained a larger and more potent army/navy defense posture in Australia as a result of their outright defeat in America? what I am suggesting is that the British a maintained an adequate military force in Australia until 1870 and used it mercilessly to put down insurrection such as the Castle Hill rebellion (something like your Concord) 1804, and the Eureka rebellion 1854. In the context of the size of the population the military was a prominent feature in the early days, about 25% of the first fleet and there were wars with the natives, the scale of course was small and the outcome onesided. The population was well aware of the events in america both the rebellion and the civil war as well as events in other parts of the world. The rebellion predicated the establishment of colonies here. The ability to defend a continent as large as Australia exercised the minds of the British throughtout the nineteenth century. The British were concerned about the Germans and the Russian
