New revelations have surfaced in a drug scandal case festering at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, involving a criminal ring of about ten midshipmen, according to Fox News.

The United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) was briefed on the illegal activity three months ago when a fellow midshipman contacted authorities about a rogue group of midshipmen selling drugs on campus.

Current reports estimate ten midshipmen were part of the elaborate scheme to supply midshipmen throughout the Naval Academy with powerful drugs including cocaine, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), and Ketamine. Fox News specifies the criminal ring used Bitcoins to purchase the drugs on the dark web then distributed the product throughout campus.

Sources from within the academy tell Fox News that roughly two-dozen midshipmen are under investigation. No formal or pending charges have been brought against any midshipmen as the investigation expands.

After hundreds of years of nothing but excellence, the service academies were forced to take affirmative action cadets, and it's been nothing but one scandal after another ever since. Remember the car theft ring from a few years ago?

Seems like there was a major cheating scandal and also a case of PC officers assigned there giving high grades to cadets that didn't deserve them, too.

Or maybe even selling passing grades. I didn't pay that much attention because I expected it from the beginning, and that was a couple of years ago.

This is the kind of crap you have to expect with you base admissions on demographics instead of excellence,

Many years ago, I worked in a corporate HQ. One of the secondary poobahs in the engineering section was a high-flying West Point graduate. Socially adept, handsome, athletic. About half of the women swooned over him, the other half didn't like him. The men all hated him for being a sneaky backstabbing weasel. And everyone seemed quite happy when one day, he got fired over something that seemed quite minor. (I had full access to the most confidential files they held so I did know the cause for firing him, at least what they wrote on paper.) So the military didn't keep him around and neither did corporate America.

I imagine that West Point has its fair share of weasels and assholes, like most any other place. And the job of the officer corps is to keep the worst ones from advancing through the ranks.

Do you recall the rumored speculation?

Yup,and traditionally, they have been "legacy cadets". Their fathers or grandfathers were flag rank officers.

And the job of the officer corps is to keep the worst ones from advancing through the ranks.

The one example I know about was a Captain I had the misfortune to meet that was a sadistic sociopath that was totally unfit for any kind of command position. He would hand out Article 15's to privates that didn't have a shirt pocket buttoned, and would try to court-martial people for being 1 day AWOL. One of h is favorite tricks was to sit in his air-conditioned office smoking cigars, and when he would see someone walking across the street from the motor pool to the barracks,he would wait for them to get close and then open the door and throw the cigar down on the street and order them to pick it up and dispose of it.

EVERYBODY in the company had nothing but total contempt for him, including the platoon leaders and the XO.

He knew it,too. The company deployed twice while I was assigned to it,and he stayed back at Bragg both times and sent his XO to command in his absence.

I tell you true,if he had ever deployed to a hazardous zone with a troop command,he would have been dead within a week.

How the army handled that was they released him from his command and sent him to JAG school, with a delay for him to get a law degree. It was a fit for everybody. Nobody could ever hope to get a more viscous and determined prosecutor, and he would never have a troop command position again.

I suppose they did something similar with other "legacies". There weren't that many of them and it was easy to find places for them where they couldn't do much harm. Now there are just too many AA people in uniforms to find places to put them where they would be harmless.
