The National Football League is feeling the impact of the "Trump Effect." Ticket sales since he called on team owners to fire players who take a knee to protest the National Anthem have cratered. The online ticket reseller TickPick told Secrets that sales have dropped 17.9 percent, far more than the usual Week Three fall. From TickPick: "We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year," said TickPick's Jack Slingland. "While we can't specify if this decrease is due to the president's comments, player and owner protests, play on the field, or simply the continued division of consumer's media attention, the conversation around the NFL this week has focused on the president's comments as well as the players' and owners' reaction. As viewers continue to abandon their NFL Sunday habits, both the number of ticket sales and the purchase price of tickets will drop," he told us.

DailyCaller is all over these stories (except the Raiders throwing the game story): That’s the message a couple of the Titans’ star players have for any outraged fans threatening to turn their back on the team… “First off, I’m going to say this: We’re not disrespecting the military, the men and women that serve in the Army. That’s not what it’s all about,” Titans tight end Delanie Walker said… “And the fans that don’t want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye. I mean, if you feel that’s something, we’re disrespecting you, don’t come to the game. You don’t have to. No one’s telling you to come to the game. It’s your freedom of choice to do that.”
Obviously true words but not words any NFL player should be broadcasting. It's another way of saying "I care more about protesting in my work uniform than I do about doing the job you all are paying me to do".
The avalanche continues to grow. It won't end well for the playas. The smartest thing the owners could do is drag that idiot Goodell out, have him declare victory in the SJW protest against Trump, then have Goodell threaten and carry through on fining any player who fails to hand-over-heart for the anthem the full amount of what they are paid for that particular game. And include any other non-anthem protesting as well. No exceptions of any kind. But I don't think they're that smart. At least, not yet.
I think the smartest thing they can do is simply declare that any player who does not stand for the anthem will not play football that day. The fans who are offended will not want to watch protesting players play, and that will accommodate them. They'd much rather watch a patriotic 3rd string running back try his best and not quite make it, than a protesting first rate running back score touchdowns. Especially if instead of scoring touchdowns, he decides to do stuff like drop passes because he's pissed at the quarterback. Fining players is nothing, as players can suffer a $20,000 fine without losing any sleep over it. It's reached the point where the NFL itself needs to take emergency action for the long term good of the NFL.
They do. But are they at the point of admitting it to themselves yet? A few teams, yeah. The rest? Nope. And Goodell is gutless, leaving the NFL rudderless in the biggest crisis it has faced in many years.
