Title: Rand Paul’s Plan for Free Market Health Insurance Reform May Be Coming to Fruition [new Trump EO]

It looks like Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) may be getting his way with Republican efforts to change healthcare laws, at least in one capacity, as Trump may soon sign an executive order allowing the purchase of healthcare across state lines.

Paul first hinted at the executive order in a radio interview with Western Kentucky University Public Radio, where Paul claimed that Trump is considering an executive order on health care reform that may allow customers to form groups across state lines that purchase insurance together at lower rates depending on their needs.

This approach would create competition, reducing rates, and increasing consumer choices. However, opponents of the approach wish claim that that healthier people would flock to skimpier plans, leaving those who need more comprehensive plans with a higher bill to pay.

Paul broke down why that wouldn’t happen during the August radio interview.

“It’s the same principle as Wal-Mart,” Paul told WKU. “Wal-Mart can buy in such large bulk that you can get milk for a very reasonable price often just barely above their cost, and they do it because they have such large buying power.”

Fast forward to an MSNBC interview on Wednesday morning, where Paul mentioned the oncoming executive order, saying “I think there’s going to be big news from the White House in the next week or two, something they can do on their own.”

“I believe President Trump can legalize on his own the ability of individuals to join a group or health association across state lines to buy insurance,” Paul added. “This would bring enormous leverage to bringing down prices. It would also bring protection to individuals who feel left out, hung out to dry, basically.”

According to the Washington Examiner, a Senate GOP source said the executive action is a “done deal,” and will likely be announced “in the next few weeks.”

Trump later confirmed a “very major” executive order on Wednesday that would allow exactly the free market approach Paul has been pushing for.

“I’ll probably be signing a very major executive order where people can go out, cross state lines, do lots of things and buy their own health care, and that will be probably signed next week,” Trump told reporters. “It’s being finished now. It’s going to cover a lot of territory and a lot of people. Millions of people.”

President Trump has grown weary of losing with his traditional bushbot progressive Rockefeller Republicans, like dear Leader McConnell.

He's been forced to deal with libertarian-conservative American patriots. Rand is leading the charge to Make America Great Again with free-market Health Insurance, in spite of Trump's progressive bushbot GOP establishment.

This is huge. Very positive development. Sign it, Mr. President!

But...the opponents will soon be in court, and they will argue that the Federal government has not been delegated the authority to set the national insurance market rules.

Of course, given Obamacare, that's an ABSURD argument.

The argument does not matter. The judge hearing the argument matters.

They'll forum shop and get the judge they want, and he'll enjoin it going into effect nationwide. Then the whole thing will get appealed and it will take many months to get an answer.

Figuring out a doctrine of expedited appeal would be a very good thing. Not holding my breath on that, though. Some swamps are more easily drained then others, and the control of lawyers and judges over the legal system is the Okefenokee of all swamps.

Trump tried it their way and they stabbed him in the back, the Stain most of all (Stain loves that stuff to show his power]. Trump seems intent on producing some positive results. More power to him. I guess this will be called "Pen & Phone II" by the libs. Frankly, this would be the biggest thing Rand Paul has done since his filibuster years back against 0bama's drones and surveillance state. That was a lot more effective than most people knew because it put 0bama on notice that he wasn't going to get away with it because the rest of the GOP would sit back and keep quiet because they favored that policy.

I dunno how many this policy would help though. Wait and see.

Why does any of this have to be "considered"? It's no-brainer common sense on the way to ultimately breaking down the anticompetitive barriers and making the medical business compete for customers like any other field of business.

I believe all states already have the authority to allow insurance companies to sell across state lines. I think Obama care currently includes provisions that allows insurance companies to sell across state lines. I remember reading that five states have passed laws that permit interstate sales and all other states could pass similar laws. The best I recall is that three states did so even after the Obamacare became law. So, this begs the questions as to what is new here and why no insurers have entered any new markets under the provisions of those state laws.

Obama care has not been repealed and Obama care requires nationwide minimum benefit standards….with universal limits for all insurers doing business in all states. So what the insurers do in one state, they are currently required by law to do in any new state they start to do business in. Is this not correct? It is, so the only thing to change this is to repeal Obama care of amend the ACA.

Rand Paul’s Plan for Free Market Health Insurance Reform May Be Coming to Fruition.

Has anyone seen any evidence presented by Rand Paul to support his claim? There are studies and opinions to show it will not. Therefore, it is as you say….we must wait and see how many this policy would help.

I think you don't grasp what they're trying to do.

Let's wait and see what they actually put in it.

I'd love to know who is writing it for Trump. It had better be good.
