The Trump Administration claims to be so horrified by the idea that a government would use chemical weapons on its own people, that they are willing to go to war over itwithout any actual proof.
In order to understand what is happening today, we have to look at history, and todays date is incredibly important.
On April 19, 1993, there was a government that used chemical weapons on its own people, and nearly 80 men, women and children died as a result. It didnt happen in Syria or Iraqit happened in Texas.
After 24 years, there are still endless questions surrounding the Waco Siege, and one of the most important things to remember is the propaganda that was pushed by the U.S. government.
In order to deal with the Branch Davidians, a religious cult that was allegedly preparing for the end of the world by stockpiling illegal weapons, the ATF claimed that the groups leader, David Koresh, was running a meth lab. Although no evidence of this was ever found, it was the only legal pretext for ATF agents to receive military training, in order to initiate a raid on the property.
The propaganda continued when, after the initial raid led to deaths on both sides, the FBI launched a seven-week siege, in which they cut off the groups sources of electricity and water.
The Clinton Administration then decided that the siege was taking too long, and it was acceptable to break down the walls of the building, filling it with what is commonly known as tear gas, all while knowing that there were two dozen innocent children trapped inside.
The government initially claimed that the April 19 fire that engulfed the property, and killed 76 men, women and children, was started by the Branch Davidians. However, in 1999, the FBI admitted its agents had fired pyrotechnic tear gas grenades at the Davidian compound, which could have sparked a fire.
There are a number of other theories about what happened on that day in Waco, Texas, and unfortunately, because of the secrecy of the FBI, there are a number of things we may never know. There is nothing that should make you question a government more than when it uses fear as propaganda to justify deadly action.
