International News Title: President Trump’s statement on U.S. airstrikes in Syria. “My fellow Americans, on Tuesday, Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilian using a deadly nerve agent Assad choked out the lives of helpful men, women and children. It was a slow and brutal death for so many…even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack. No child of God should ever suffer such horror. Tonight I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched. It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons. There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the chemical weapons convention and ignored the urging of the UN Security Council. Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed very dramatically. As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies. Tonight I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types. We ask for God’s wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled world. We pray for the lives of the wounded and for the souls of those who have passed and we hope that as long as America stands for justice then peace and harmony will, in the end, prevail Goodnight and God bless America and the entire world. Thank you.” Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest and of course he is right. If history judges him for anything it should be this act. Maybe a Peace Prize in it
#2. To: paraclete (#1) Nice speech. Except that it makes no sense at all that Assad was behind the chem weapon attack, assuming there was one. He's winning the war, with Russia's help, and quite recently just scored a major international diplomatic victory when the US officially changed it's policy in Syria to not require Assad's removal. Using chem weapons so soon after that win would be the ultimate in stupidity on Assad's part. If there was a chem attack, a check of the "who wins and who loses" scorecard shows it's the rebels that win and Assad that loses, which means it's far more likely the rebels framed Assad.
#3. To: Pinguinite (#2) Gas attack likely set up as a false flag by Mossad which was reported to have advisers among ISIS. You make very good points, but from MY POV,they are irrelevant when it comes to justifying American military involvement. Yeah, chemical and bio weapons are inhumane in ALL respects, but assuming for a minute that Assad ordered them used, how the HELL is it any of America's business, and most especially,HTH does it justify the use of American military force? Are we Syria's daddy? What the hell is going on,here? BOYCOTT PAYPAL AND CLOSE YOUR PP ACCOUNTS NOW! ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO SO,TOO! ISLAM MEANS SUBMISSION! Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes all rights relative to the dictates of the majority? (Ron Paul,2012) American Indians had open borders. Look at how well that worked out for them. #4. To: sneakypete (#3) (Edited) but assuming for a minute that Assad ordered them used, how the HELL is it any of America's business, and most especially,HTH does it justify the use of American military force? True enough. Both arguments/points are good to make though, as some people will only contemplate one or the other. And then there's the implication that killing 80 innocent people with chem weapons is bad, but killing them with normal weapons is okay.
#5. To: Pinguinite (#4) And then there's the implication that killing 80 innocent people with chem weapons is bad, but killing them with normal weapons is okay. Well, dead is dead, but there can be a BUNCH of difference is how humane and quick the trip is. ANYBODY that promotes chemical and/or bio warfare as viable method of warfare instantly loses ALL rights to talk trash about the Nazi's. Flat out, anybody that launches bio or chemical weapons against their enemy is a war criminal. No exceptions. Don't get me wrong. We HAVE to have people in the labs at Ft.Dietrich (I THINK) working to create new bio and chemical weapons because in order to develop antidotes to a disease (and bio and chem weapons ARE diseases of the human mind) you have to know how the disease was created. It is only the people who advocate using these weapons as a short-cut to win a war and the people who issue the orders and carry them out that are the monsters. Flat out,if I were in command of a missile launch site and I knew the warheads to be full of chem/bio weapons and you ordered me to launch them,I'd tell you to go piss up a rope, and shoot you myself if you weren't instantly making yourself busy looking for rope. It's a matter of self-respect,as well as respect for humanity and all the other living creatures and plants that inhabit it. BOYCOTT PAYPAL AND CLOSE YOUR PP ACCOUNTS NOW! To: sneakypete (#5) It's a matter of self-respect Yes perhaps it is, Assad has to gain the respect of his followers and Putin and do you think he has it for this grinding war? a few dissidents and seven years later he couldn't get the job done, even with Russian help. You have to understand that he started out with a large army, an air force and he couldn't get the job done and more and more joined the rebel cause and now you basically have one hold out city that he is going to grind the way he did Aleppo. It was also a matter of self respect for Dump, he couldn't stand by and do nothing no matter what the consequences. America has to clean up this mess, it has been financing this proxy war, fighting against an elected leader. Yes there is a bad human rights record but clean up your own back yard before you shit in someoneelse's
#7. To: paraclete (#6) America has to clean up this mess No,America doesn't. WTF died and made America the 3rd Worlds Daddy? I don't give a rabid rats ass if those gomers kill each other off down to the last man, woman, and child,it is NONE OF OUR CONCERN TO THE POINT WHERE WE GET INVOLVED MILITARILY! THE US MILITARY EXISTS TO PROTECT AMERICA AND AMERICAN INTERESTS,NOT TO BABYSIT THE FREAKING WORLD! BOYCOTT PAYPAL AND CLOSE YOUR PP ACCOUNTS NOW! ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO SO,TOO! To: sneakypete (#7) THE US MILITARY EXISTS TO PROTECT AMERICA AND AMERICAN INTERESTS,NOT TO BABYSIT THE FREAKING WORLD! go tell that to that dumbo George W Bush, he thought WMD in Iraq was sufficient american interest to destroy a country and destabilise a region and the aftermath continues today, so it is a vital US interest to bring about stability and remove WMD from Syria otherwise your whole nation could be called a nation of hypocrites and opportunists
