Donald Trump’s Supreme Court Justice nominee Neil Gorsuch founded and was the president of a club called ‘Fascism Forever’ during high school according to The Daily Mail. The club, set up against the “increasingly left-wing tendencies of faculty” at Georgetown Preparatory near Washington D.C., was started by Gorsuch when he was a freshman. He continued running the club until he graduated in 1985. Below is a page from Gorsuch’s senior yearbook: Along with the Fascism Forever Club, the yearbook lists some of his other activities and memberships, including President of the Yard, “Lousy Spanish Student”, and President of Committee to reform The Beast: The fascist club wasn’t the only window into Gorsuch’s far-right conservative past. According to the Daily Mail: One yearbook photo showed the high school senior kicking back in a chair in a button-down shirt and tie while reading William F. Buckley’s 1959 book ‘Up from Liberalism’, a key text of the conservative movement. After high school, Neil Gorsuch attended Columbia University and chose the following 1967 Henry Kissinger quote to accompany his yearbook photo: “The illegal we do immediately, the unconstitutional takes a little longer”. Today, Gorsuch has the praise of pretty much every right-wing group including the Heritage Foundation, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, and the NRA. What do you make of his past?
