Watching The Cops Title: FBI employee arrested after firing shots at officer, Planet Fitness
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Grand Rapids police have arrested a man they say opened fire near a gym in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 6. It happened around 2 a.m. at Planet Fitness on 28th Street. Police say a 35-year-old man walked into the gym, wielding a gun before he fired three shots near Lake Eastbrook Boulevard. At the time, around seven people were inside, but none of them were hurt. Investigators say the suspect, a current employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, shot at a police sergeant who was attempting to make contact with him. Seconds later, the man was seen in a parking lot north of Center Point Mall, where he was arrested at gunpoint. Officers did not fire any shots. Police say they’ve notified the FBI in Detroit. They released the following statement Tuesday afternoon: “The FBI takes allegations of misconduct very seriously. We are aware of the matter involving the recent arrest of an FBI Special Agent and are fully cooperating with the Grand Rapids Police Department. This matter has been referred to the FBI’s Internal Investigations Section in Washington, DC, as well as the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further." Planet Fitness also responded: “We can confirm the isolated incident that took place early this morning at the Planet Fitness location in Grand Rapids. We can also confirm that no shots were fired inside the club, and that no one was injured. The suspect is currently in custody and we are grateful for the local authorities’ swift action and response. As this is an ongoing investigation, any further inquiries should be directed to the Grand Rapids Police Department.” The suspect is being questioned about what led up to that shooting. If you have any information on the shooting, contact Grand Rapids Police at 616-456-3600 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345. Poster Comment: There was no threat to "Officer Safety" since it was the FBI shooting at them. No need to return fire. No problem, thank you sir may I have another? Anyone else would have been pumped full of lead. Reports indicated that he (then went outside and) fired three shots near Lake Eastbrook Boulevard. At the time, about seven people were inside the gym -- no one was hurt. When Grand Rapids police arrived on scene, police say Hernandez fired at a Grand Rapids sergeant and the officer did not return fire. Kent County court records also show that Hernandez is being held on three charges including assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm at or near a building and possession of a firearm while under the influence. Well, there's the reason.

There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."Theodore Roosevelt-1907.
