LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Libertarian congressional candidate from Indiana has been arrested in Louisville on a preliminary charge of third-degree assault of a police officer after an alleged struggle over his phone during a traffic stop. Forty-five-year-old Russell Brooksbank is preliminarily charged with traffic violation of failing to signal and a misdemeanor count of obstructions/interference with a police officer. An arrest report alleges Brooksbank was stopped after making a rude gesture to a passing Kentucky State trooper about 10:40 a.m. Friday. Campaign manager Greg Hertzsch told WAVE-TV Brooksbank denies making an inappropriate gesture. Hertzsch says Brooksbank took out his phone to record the stop. In a voicemail left to WISH-TV’s Bennett Haeberle, Brooksbank stuck by his claims of not making an inappropriate gesture, saying he was “curling his fingers because his wedding band was loose and didn’t want it to fall off.” “Today I was a victim of an overzealous police officer who wears his emotions on his sleeve,” said Brooksbank. Brooksbank is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday. He is running for the 9th congressional district seat against Democrat Shelli Yoder and Republican Trey Hollingsworth. Of course, they won't let him in the debate either. The D&R party's behavior confirms that they're inferior. #3. To: hondo68 (#1) "Republican Trey Hollingsworth" A government strong enough to impose your standards is strong enough to ban them. #4. To: Gatlin (#0) " Brooksbank was stopped after making a rude gesture to a passing Kentucky State trooper about 10:40 a.m. Friday. " Brooksbank obviously is not real sharp! Si vis pacem, para bellum Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God. if you look around, we have gone so far down the the rat hole, the almighty is going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah, if we don't have a judgement come down on us. What a cowardly libertarian weasel... If you're gonna be man enough to flip someone the bird, then you ought to be man enough to proudly own up to it no matter what.
#6. To: Willie Green, Libertarian shirt envy (#5) you ought to be man enough to proudly own up to it no matter what. Libertarian shirt envy is an ugly thing, the first step is to admit that your shirt sucks. ![]() Castle(C), Stein(G), Johnson(L) #7. To: Gatlin (#0) “Today I was a victim of an overzealous police officer who wears his emotions on his sleeve,” said Brooksbank. The cop probably used the word "illegal" and triggered him, just like happened with Gary the Cuck Johnson.
