(CNSNews.com) - Government employees in the United States outnumber manufacturing employees by 9,932,000, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Federal, state and local government employed 22,213,000 people in August, while the manufacturing sector employed 12,281,000.

The BLS has published seasonally-adjusted month-by-month employment data for both government and manufacturing going back to 1939. For half a century—from January 1939 through July 1989—manufacturing employment always exceeded government employment in the United States, according to these numbers.

Then, in August 1989, the seasonally-adjusted employment numbers for government exceeded the employment numbers for manufacturing for the first time. That month, manufacturing employed 17,964,000 and government employed 17,989,000.

Manufacturing employment in the United States had peaked a decade before that in June 1979 at 19,553,000

From August 2015 to August 2016 seasonally-adjusted manufacturing employment declined by 37,000--dropping from 12,318,000 last August to 12,281,000 this August.

The 22,213,000 government employees in August, according to the BLS, included 2,790,000 federal employees, 5,120,000 state government employees, and 14,303,000 local government employees.

In 1989 the US changed from a free market economy, to a big government nanny state, open borders tyranny, aka Atzlan. By the end of Reagan's second term where the lines cross on the chart, the country was hosed. (2 images)

The country has been "hosed" ever since FDR and Truman.

That's half of what's wrong with this country. Too many parasitic bull shitters making rules and regulations to justify their selves and not enough people producing anything.

Technically, anyone who pays taxes is "working" for the government.

We are all tax slaves.

Americans collectively spent more on taxes in 2016 than they did on food, clothing, and housing combined.

"Ronny the Commie", his words and perhaps his thoughts were Liberty leaning, but his actions were not always so. When he said "Government isn't the solution to our problems, government is our problem", he was correct, but what did he do to solve it?

Exercising rights is only radical to two people, Tyrants and Slaves. Which are YOU? Our ignorance has driven us into slavery and we do not recognize it.

Have no fear….for Donald Trump is near.

Donald Trump will be your emancipator!

He will free you from your tax burden by lowering your taxes.

Can you provide a source for that metric? That is an eye opening KPI about what is wrong with this goddamned country ruled by a bunch of phuckedupped, international élitists in Washington DC.

When he [Reagan] said "Government isn't the solution to our problems, government is our problem", he was correct, but what did he do to solve it?

Nothing. He perpetuated massive government intrusion into Americans lives.

Can you provide a source for that metric?

From Breitbart:

This year Americans will collectively give more money to the government in taxes than they will spend on on food, clothing, and housing combined, a new report from the Tax Foundation reveals.

The report shows 31 percent of the nation’s income will go to taxes — $3.3 trillion in federal taxes and $1.6 trillion in state and local taxes:

In a demonstration of just how much money Americans will spend on taxes this year, the Tax Foundation has calculated that not only will the bill to Uncle Sam be more than most personal expenses, it will take the nation, as a whole, until April 24 to earn enough to cover the cost.

I am asking you to research the credentials of the sources, now. If there is truth, we need to examine [the] data. As an opin, you scored a +100 with that earlier metric. It is important for some of us as true American consitutionalists worried of and about government overreach.

I visit a lot of web sites to collect data. I have not seen the data or even the metric you showed today. You made a difference but it has to be supported with facts.

Thanks,

buckeroo

Now wait!

What really is interesting and sad is that 20% of the workers work for the government!

So really only only 100million people are supporting the US economy!?! So 100million workers are really producing $160,000 of wealth per year but only taking home $50K!?!?! That really is messed up!

Think about that!

Government Workers Now Outnumber Manufacturing Workers by 9,932,000

As I wrote back in 2011...

"The Democratic Party's nourishing of special interests enabled by government handouts has resulted in the formation of the ultimate special interest group, that being the U.S. Government itself; which, includes not only those we elect, but also, the staffs of all the federal agencies, bureaucracies, foundations, policy institutes, etc.

With so many who are not required to answer directly to the people, this new special interest group, also known as "our government," now exists not to protect all citizens of America, but solely to perpetuate its own existence while lining its members' pockets with the hard earned money it steals from those who work and pay taxes.

The failure of the Republican Party to stand on principle to stem the tide of this vast new special interest group makes them an accessory to the fact; which, puts those of us who are footing the bill for ALL special interest groups between the proverbial "rock and a hard place."

We can't support Democrats for obvious reasons; and, we can't get a third party candidate elected because BOTH major political parties have gotten anti-third party election laws passed in enough states that it is virtually impossible for anyone other than a Republican or a Democrat to get his/her name on the ballot in every state in a national election.

However, as bad as the Republican Party is, it is still the best option we have for the short term. We can and should continue to work with the Tea Party Movement to elect more conservative candidates to office at all levels.

Long term, we need to work to get the anti-third party laws repealed or made less strict; especially in the states which make it the hardest for their candidates to get on the ballot. The states that usually pose the biggest challenge for third party candidates seem to be Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Indiana; but, almost every state makes it harder for third party candidates to get on the ballot than Republicans and Democrats. I encourage everyone to check into your own state's laws and work to change those that need changing."

Of course, in 2011, I did not foresee the Tea Party being infiltrated by RINOs and/or those who were elected by that movement's efforts being corrupted by those who preceded them in Congress. Now, our only hope is to elect Trump...
