KENNEWICK, WA (KEPR/CNN) -  The parrot, named Kai, is not just a pet. She’s Mitchell Slaugh’s emotional service animal.

“She’s my baby. She’s my companion,” Slaugh said. “I need her and she needs me.”

Slaugh is registered to have Kai o his shoulder as his support system. As Slaugh said, “We’re tied together.”

So it was like any other day for the Slaugh family when they walked into a Winco store to get groceries on Saturday.

That was until the store told him his parrot had to go.

“I just went in there to grab a couple items for dinner, and I had grabbed three of the five items I needed, and one of the store clerks said I couldn’t have a pet in the store,” he said.

When he explained to store management that Kai was a registered service animal, he realized there is a loophole in the law.

Service animals in Washington state are only described as dogs or small horses, making it legal for the store to kick Slaugh and his parrot out.

“I have owned parrots for about seven years now and I have never been kicked out of anywhere for having a parrot with me,” he said.

Mitchell Slaugh has owned Kai for a year now, and his wife, Mary, already can see a change.

“Having abnormal thing on his shoulder makes him a normal person,” she said.

KEPR spoke to the store's manager, who acknowledged that the incident happened and referred the station to the store’s corporate office. The station reached out to the corporate office but has not heard back.

Mitchell Slaugh said he probably won’t be going back into Winco, and he hope more people understand the feathers on his shoulder.

“The bond i have with her is very similar to that of a toddler,” he said. (1 image)

He should absolutely return to this store with several small horses.

My guess is this mentally weak dirtbag looking libtard is probably a Ron Paul cult member. If he needs a bird on his shoulder to get through life's drama... then suck on the business end of a .45 acp... Help Mother Nature with natural selection

Your propensity to associate any and all distasteful things to Ron Paul shows you have a bit of a psychosis.

... you have a bit of a psychosis.

Did he just classify you as having a psychosis? I am pretty sure that he did. Is he practicing clinical psychology … classifying someone else for a behavioral disorder or condition? I am pretty sure he is.

Doesn’t someone who engages in such activity and who does not have a license to practice as a clinical psychologist commit a crime? I am pretty sure they do. But I guess that is okay with Paultards, since when have they ever cared for laws or rules.

Speaking about rules, it was just the other day, in fact it was on April 14th, that Ron Paul told fox news “rules are made to be broken.” Yep, that’s what he said … it is a direct quote. So, it appears that old Ron is still giving his Paultards free license to do anything they desire.

Back to the classifying point: I hereby classify all Paultards as assholes, and I know that I do not need a license to do that. Do you think I have “one of them” psychosis too? Paultards would say yes. But then who ever listens to the Paultards. It is strongly evidenced that no one does. They just keep yapping, yapping and yapping … while others ridicule and make fun of them.

Pinguinite is a Trump supporter. Just like you. You will both be known as Trumptards eventually. Me too.

Pinguinite is a Trump supporter.

I am pleased to learn this and it is nice to be traveling together down the same path towards making America great again.

On a sour note however, I hold little hope for the mental survival of Hondo, Deckard and Buckeroo after Trump takes office. I trust they will be well provided for at the Salem State Hospital under the care of Nurse Ratched, assuming she is still there. After all, she is of their same nature and since it is drug use they promote, her administering antipsychotic and anticonvulsant drugs may give them new found peace. And peace … peace of mind is one thing that bunch of misfits really needs.

Certainly, there are things I don't like about Trump that you do like, namely his lack of empathy about civil rights. Certainly being a billionaire about his whole life meant never really having to put up with people more powerful than he is, and the injustices that come with it.

On the plus side, Trump should be very good at cleaning up the monetary mess created by many years of waste and excess, slashing foreign "aid" which is not aid at all but instead basically political bribe money, and root out cronyism that has become the rule in DC (I imagine you would be less enthused about any corrupt people drawing a gov paycheck being exposed).

But there is no certainty what Trump will do, or if he'll be any different from any pres of the last 30 years. The only thing one can say with certainty is that unlike Hillary and probably most every other R candidate he beat, that Trump doesn't owe any special interests anything. So he might actually have an authentic interest in "making America great again", and be willing to use logic and common sense as president instead of just parroting what paying headmasters tell him to.

That is a good summation. So good that I see no reason to parse it and reply to each comment.

There are of course a few things that I do not like about Trump, but I minimize those because he is finally, finally, someone who will go to Washington and make a sincere effort to change things … without having to worry about job security, reelection and all those other nuances that career politicians always place ahead of serving the public.

I will take time to comment on one thing you mentioned, that being his position on civil rights. I can understand your position from having read many of your posts. I am not using the lead in, “I can understand” as a “debate ploy.” I really do understand your position.

Please permit me to share my position with you. As a retired career military officer, I am geared to go in the “get ‘er done” mode. But I would never allow that to override, shortcut, or violate any laws or rules that protect the privacy of Americans. Having said that, I would no doubt approve of writing more liberal (I can’t believe that I just used that word) laws to delve deeper than you in order to go after anyone or anything that threatens America or American lives.

Oops … I would like to comment more, but I am a day trader and I need to take some action. I will post more later. In the meantime, I thank you for your courteous and object post.
