The Establishments war on Donald Trump Title: Former pro-Trump super PAC director calls candidacy a ‘charade’ in scathing open letter In this March 12, 2016, file photo, Republican presidential candidate, businessman Donald Trump speaks in Vandalia, Ohio. Trump wants to win the White House in November. House Speaker Paul Ryan wants to save the Republican Party for the future. Those goals put Trump and Ryan increasingly at odds over both tone and substance as the billionaire businessman barrels toward the GOP presidential nomination. A former director for a pro-Donald Trump super PAC penned a blistering column on Monday calling the GOP front-runner a “self-preservationist” who “would stab any one of his supporters in the back if it earned him a cent more in his pocket.” Stephanie Cegielski, the former communications director for Mr. Trump’s short-lived “Make America Great Again” super PAC, claimed in an open letter for XOJane that Mr. Trump aimed to position himself as a “protest” candidate and never expected to do so well in the Republican primary. (function(d, a) {if (a && a.isMobile) {d.getElementById('adblade-unit-559403b7221c7').setAttribute('data-cid', '12615-3651053877'); } else if (a && a.isTablet) { d.getElementById('adblade-unit-559403b7221c7').setAttribute('data-cid', '12619-4229376787'); } })(document, window.adbladeExports); “What was once Trump’s desire to rank second place to send a message to America and to increase his power as a businessman has nightmarishly morphed into a charade that is poised to do irreparable damage to this country if we do not stop this campaign in its tracks,” she wrote. “And I am now taking full responsibility for helping create this monster — and reaching out directly to those voters who, like me, wanted Trump to be the real deal,” Ms. Cegielski wrote. “I don’t think even Trump thought he would get this far. And I don’t even know that he wanted to, which is perhaps the scariest prospect of all. “He certainly was never prepared or equipped to go all the way to the White House, but his ego has now taken over the driver’s seat, and nothing else matters. The Donald does not fail. The Donald does not have any weakness. The Donald is his own biggest enemy.” “I’ll say it again: Trump never intended to be the candidate. But his pride is too out of control to stop him now,” she continued. “He doesn’t want the White House. He just wants to be able to say that he could have run the White House. He’s achieved that already and then some. If there is any question, take it from someone who was recruited to help the candidate succeed, and initially very much wanted him to do so.”
Ms. Cegielski went on to call Mr. Trump a “self-preservationist” who only cares about himself. “The man does not know policy, nor does he have the humility to admit what he does not know — the most frightening position of all,” she wrote. “And he has no problem abusing your support the same way he cheated hard-working men and women out of millions of dollars, for which he is now being sued.” “No matter how many times he repeats it, Trump would not be the ‘best’ at being a president, being in shape, fighting terrorism, selling steaks, and whatever other ‘best’ claim he has made in the last 15 minutes,” she wrote. “He would be the best at something, though. He is the best at looking out for Donald Trump — at all costs. Don’t let our country pay that price.” Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, dismissedMs. Cegielski’s assertions. “This person was never employed by the Trump campaign. Evidently she worked for a Super PAC which Mr. Trump disavowed and requested the closure of via the FEC,” she said. “She knows nothing about Mr. Trump or the campaign, and her disingenuous and factually inaccurate statements in no way resemble any shred of truth. This is yet another desperate person looking for their fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, Mr. Trump is running for President because he is the only one who will Make America Great Again.” (1 image) Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread Top • Page Up • Full Thread • Page Down • Bottom/Latest Stephanie Cegielski, the former communications director for Mr. Trump’s short-lived “Make America Great Again” super PAC... Not so short-lived. I just saw an ad by them for Trump last night on FNC. It was a pick-one-of-these-four-reasons-why-you-love-Donald things where you were supposed to call an 800 number to tell the super-PAC whether you loved him on immigration issues or national security or (something else) or for his "straight talk". Obviously, the PAC was just trying to build their mailing list, a valuable property for those who run the PAC. Naturally, they would also ask the rubes for donations as well. And they'd probably get a lot of money out of it for them to live off of for years to come. In general, these PACs really are out of control.
#2. To: cranky, tomder55, sneakypete (#0) Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign... That name is just too funny. Yeah, I bet that Trump does hope hicks keep falling for his schtick.

To: cranky (#0) "Stephanie Cegielski, the former communications director for Mr. Trump’s short-lived “Make America Great Again” super PAC" Wait a minute. Is this the same Stephanie Cegielski who described herself as the top strategist in the Trump campaign? Trump shut down her Super PAC employer and now she's upset. Screw you.
#5. To: misterwhite (#4) (Edited) Trump shut down her Super PAC employer and now she's upset. He complained to the FEC, I think. But I don't think he got them shut down. At least, I did see an ad from them just last night, luring viewers to call their 800 number. And their website is still open for business too. Anyone can actually start a PAC for anything, whether a candidate or party likes it or not. And then funnel the money raised anonymously to anything they want, including their own pockets. It is scandalous. I am not a fan of the decision in Citizens United.

#7. To: TooConservative (#5) According to the above article, "Evidently she worked for a Super PAC which Mr. Trump disavowed and requested the closure of via the FEC ..." "Anyone can actually start a PAC for anything, whether a candidate or party likes it or not. And then funnel the money raised anonymously to anything they want, including their own pockets." Yep. Apparently, the problem here was that there were too many tenuous links between the PAC and people in the Trump campaign. To avoid the appearance of impropriety, Trump asked the FEC to intervene. "I am not a fan of the decision in Citizens United." Were you a fan of the legislation it overturned -- McCain–Feingold?
#8. To: misterwhite (#4) Trump shut down her Super PAC employer and now she's upset. Our future president, Donald Trump, disavowed and requested the closure of the money-begging organization Stephanie worked for as a consultant. TooCuckservative just had another epic fail.
#9. To: TooConservative (#5) But I don't think he got them shut down. Snopes: The "Make America Great Again" super PAC went dark as of October 2015 Not that facts matter to ya.
#10. To: misterwhite (#7) Were you a fan of the legislation it overturned -- McCain–Feingold? Nope.
#11. To: Roscoe (#9) The "Make America Great Again" super PAC went dark as of October 2015 I don't think that is a fact. As I pointed out above, their website is certainly open for business and I saw an ad on FNC just last night.
#12. To: TooConservative (#11) As I pointed out above, their website is certainly open for business and I saw an ad on FNC just last night. I considered the source.
#13. To: Roscoe (#12) I know it was reported that they were to shut down. I just don't think they ever did. They are still running their website and, as of last night, still had an ad running on FNC. I think the ad was during O'Reilly or Kelly's show. I wasn't watching that close but it was such a ridiculous ad that I rewinded and checked to make sure of the PAC's name. I suppose it is possible they contracted for these ads months ago. But that website is certainly still open for business. And taking donations, it seems. There were, BTW, at least 9 superPACs claiming to be Trump superPACs. I think the MAGA PAC was the biggest and raised the most money. Not sure what the others are doing or whether they are still raising money.
#14. To: Stoner (#3) Wonder how much the GOPe paid her ? Might be a personal grudge or she could be doing it on spec. Anti-Trump is in big demand in a some places right now. There are three kinds of people in the world: those that can add and those that can't #15. To: cranky (#0)
Appears to be a regular American in the 2010 picture above, before being exposed to the Trump Cult, and becoming a top strategist. ![]() #16. To: TooConservative (#13) They are still running their website URL?
#17. To: Roscoe (#16) URL? https://www.makeamericagreatagainpac.com/ They aren't updating it much but they are still definitely collecting names and addresses and building their email database.
