Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) said on Sunday that the media is sitting on explosive negative information about front-runner Donald Trump with plans to run it later in the year to tear the candidate apart. "I think an awful lot of reporters — I can't tell you how many media outlets I hear, you know, have this great exposé on Donald, on different aspects of his business dealings or his past, but they said, 'You know what? We're going to hold it to June or July,'" Cruz said on CBS's "Face The Nation" Sunday. "We're not going to run it now." Cruz said the media has given the front-runner "hundreds of millions of dollars of free advertising." Every press conference Trump has is shown on every television station, he said, noting the media helped create this "phenomenon." "And all of the attacks on Donald that the media is not talking about now, you'd better believe come September, October, November — if he were the nominee — every day on the nightly news would be taking Donald apart," he said. Cruz called out the media, saying one of the reasons they want Trump to be the eventual nominee is because they know he can't beat Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton. "Hillary would wallop him," Cruz said. "Donald may be the only person on the face of the planet that Hillary Clinton can beat." Cruz addressed the fact that people haven't brought up the issue of Trump's tax returns recently, questioning why it wasn't mentioned during the recent Republican debate. "As Mitt Romney rightly observed, the fact that Donald won't hand over his tax returns suggests there's a bombshell in there," Cruz said. He also called out journalists for not talking more about what Trump may have told The New York Times editorial board in an off-the-record portion of an interview. The Times recently refused to release an audio recording from an off-the-record meeting with Trump in which some speculated the front-runner talked about immigration. When the general election comes, Cruz said Trump will be the "singular focus of the media." "And I think Republicans, we've been burned by that before," Cruz said. "We're not interested in losing again, particularly when the stakes, I think, are catastrophic."

Never mind. of course Trump could give the permission to release. Cruz is right. If Trump is the nominee in the general election ,you know and I know that the video or it's audio or transcript will be "leaked " by someone at the Slimes. It will confirm that Trump told then that he will pivot and walk back his tough immigration positions . He already did it 3 times (flip flop flip ) during and after the Fox Debate about H-1B visa's . Before the debate his position was that he would restrict them. Then during the debate he said he was changing his mind about them because we needed smart workers . Then after the debate ;when he started getting feedback from his supporters and advisors ,he walked that comment back on his Tweets . 3 postions on the visas in less than a 24 hour period ! If he can't stay consistant on his core campaign position then how can you trust him about any other position ?

Had he wanted it released, he could have done so back then. Which tells you he doesn't want voters to know what he said to the NYT about his beliefs, policies, plans, goals, stance on issues, etc. That's a con man at work.
How do you what was off the record?
There was an interview that was apparently audiotaped. The conversation was allegedly off the record at the suggestion of both parties. TRUMP: I don’t know exactly what — when you talk about off the record. First of all, Buzzfeed? They were the ones that said under no circumstances will I run for president. And were they wrong. But a lot of people said that. Then, I did have a meeting with the editorial board of the New York Times, a very nice meeting. Many of those things were off the record, I think at their suggestion and my suggestion. And I think being off the record is a very important thing. I think it’s a very, very powerful thing. And I will say this. These three gentlemen have gone off the record many times with reporters. And I think they want to honor it, and I would always honor that. Perhaps Fox News would like to provide a transcript of the alleged off the record collusion between News Corp (Rupert Murdoch/Roger Ailes) and Marco Rubio in support of illegal alien amnesty. Nah, perhaps not.

How do you [know] what was off the record?
Back in January, you gave an off-the-record interview to the New York Times. It was apparently audiotaped. Now, a recent report in Buzzfeed citing sources at the Times reports that in that interview you expressed flexibility when it comes to your immigration policy, specifically with respect to your promise to deport the 11 million people who are now living here illegally. You have suggested that you may have expressed some flexibility when it comes to the size of the wall that you want to build. But did you tell them, specifically, that you are flexible when it comes to your deportation plan?
