Drunk and hungry, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy in California was exasperated with a fast-food employee who was slow in giving him his food.
So he pulled out his gun and threatened the clerk and manager with it.
And he ended up arrested, thrown in jail while still drunk and hungry.
Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy Benjamin Lee was arrested outside the Jack in the Box fast food restaurant, charged with driving under the influence and brandishing a firearm, according to CBS San Francisco.
Lee, 33, was accompanied by two other passengers when the incident took place last week. According to witnesses, Lee became very frustrated that the drive-through line was taking so long, so when he finally reached the window to order his food he pulled out his gun instead.
Employees did not hesitate to call 911 and report Lee’s angry behavior. CBS says Lee was still in the line waiting for his food to be finished when he was arrested.
Employees said they were surprised it took the arresting officers less time to arrive on the scene than for the food to be prepared.
The arrest took place according to the police report at 2:40 a.m.
Lee was placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation takes place. CBS also said the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office is still waiting for a report on Lee’s behavior in order to determine if any charges will be filed against the officer.
“DUI by anyone is unacceptable; doubly so when it involves a deputy sheriff,” The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Santa Clara County Vice President Roger Winslow said in a statement. “We are held to a higher standard and rightly so.”
The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Santa Clara County said they would be following this case closely.
“We fully expect that appropriate action will be taken after all the facts are determined,” Winslow added.
Last year, three other Santa Clara deputies were arrested on murder charges in the beating death of a mentally ill inmate. (1 image)

DUI by anyone is unacceptable
This is why you need tighter gun laws, such as illegal to carry a weapon while intoxicated but seriously there is something seriously wrong with law enforcement ethos

You would think you would know by now that just because there is a law about something doesn't mean that law will stop that behavior, when is that going to sink in?
