Back a day or two I asked this question: Have you ever heard folks, who claim to be smart, say that CHRISTmas, December 25th is a pagan holiday?
Well today I reckon I'll answer that question.
"How long was the ministry of Christ? Well according to the four Gospels and tidbits found in the other writings of the New Testament, Jesus preached for either 2 years and 3 months or three years and three months.
Now we know that the Lord died on the cross and was resurrected sometime in either late March or early April, so deducting three months from the date of his death we can arrive at the date of His birth.
So Jesus was born between late December and early January.
So enjoy your celebration of CHRISTmas, celebrate the birth of the Lord, the God of Creation.
So Jesus was born between late December and early January.
Jesus was probably born several months before December because the shepards were in the fields watching their flocks but it was a convenience for the church to celebrate Jesus birth close to the solitace to replace a pagan celebration. I personally believe that the Romans would not have disrupted the society by calling the census in winter. We are not told to celebrate Jesus birth but his death because we are to celebrate the salvation his death ensured but then we do a lot of things we were told not to do and taint our faith with pagan ritual

Scripture says Late Dec early Jan, but you say otherwise.
guess I'll stick with scripture.
Jesus was born between late December and early January.
