The only good part of this is that I have no more old
folks left to lose. Very early yesterday morning (the 15th)
I lost my 82 year-old Mom to a massive heart attack.

That afternoon she went to her doctor - because she had been
feeling extremely crappy all day - then she called me -
and the ambulance (by herself) - I made an SOS call to friends -
who followed me and the ambulance the the hospital.

So now my Mom's side of the family (and my Dad's) are entirely gone.
Rats.

My condolences.

Sorry to hear about it, bro.

As you know, it will happen to all of us in due time.

My mom - dad both died 25 - 30 years ago ... they both made it to seventy --- the age I am now !

My mom taught me ... don't get too comfortable here - this is not our home --- we're just passing through !

Nobody's gone - alone ... if you have God --- in your life !

If you ... don't use exclamation points --- you should't be typeing ! Commas - semicolons - question marks are for girlie boys !

Indeed.

Thanks.

Dad passed in October of 2014 - but we didn't inter his
ashes until three weeks ago. So - yeah...

...don't get too comfortable here...

I'm 52...

Quite frankly, I've never found it 'comfortable' here.

Don't feel bad. When I go to the checkout counter at the grocery stores, I pass magazine stacks featuring famous people who have croaked or about ready to croak and they are all younger or in better shape than I am. I once gave lecture on my feet for as long as three full days to to fascinated audiences under the auspices of a major university. Today I wouldnt last 15 minutes. My life has been one hell of a ride.

Sudden deaths hurt deeply when they occur, but they are a blessing in disguise.

We all want to die in our sleep and not spend years in an old folks home.

ha - ha - ha ... don't worry I have a lot of work to do on you --- in purgatory !

Get on the ball fred !

The age of faith (( no revelation - apocalypse )) is lightspeed closing fast ... no more knocking on the door of your soul - life --- we will be in the age of reality - eternal life - death - reckoning - judgement slamming shut is now !

I have ... inside information - after the fact --- no more mercy - pity !

The Bible says at some point tribulation just makes the unsaved colder - hopeless - angrier !

I hear you, and I feel for you. Been through that myself. My parents died within a year of each other 20 years ago, aged 67 and 68, respectively. Grandparents died decades before that. No siblings.

It's kind of lonely.

It seems to be goodbye, but really it's only "Till we meet again."

Sorry to hear this sad news.

You often don't realize how quickly your aging parents or grandparents can go until it suddenly happens to someone in your own family.

My mom is very close to that same age so your story makes me worry a little more about her.

I'm sorry for your loss, Chuck... but 82 years is a nice, long life... I'm sure that you have many memories that you'll cherish forever.

Thanks.
Dad made it to 89 - Mom made it to 82.
I've got to find some places - in friend's
yards - that have space - for some of the azaleas,
and rhododendron, and iris, and day lilies - etc.

My parents were avid gardeners.
The legacy must live on...

And that was that.

Yeah - what is also strange is how old my second cousins
now are. Jimmy just totaled his Mom's SUV.
He's now 19. Yowza! No injuries - thank goodness...
