CNN has announced who made the cut for Tuesday's Republican debate in Las Vegas.

Rand Paul

Nine Republican presidential candidates have qualified for Tuesday night's debate in Las Vegas, CNN announced Sunday. CNN’s Jake Tapper has named which of the GOP hopefuls would make the main stage: Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina and Rand Paul.

It was unclear as to whether or not Kentucky Senator Rand Paul would make the stage with his national polling numbers hovering around the one percent mark. However, the network determined that Paul would be allowed to participate in the main debate because Paul was "showing viability" by polling at five percent in a Fox News Iowa poll released Sunday morning, according to TIME.

CNN had plans to announce the debate line-up during the State of the Union at 9 a.m. but had delayed the call until the show's re-run at noon, perhaps to allow for the Sunday morning poll to be released, Mediaite pointed outPaul's campaign team had lobbied CNN to allow him on the stage, NBC News reported.

CNN made their decision based on a few criteria. The top five candidates qualified as a result of their standing in national polls, according to Politico. Kasich, Fiorina and Christie made the stage because of their poll numbers in New Hampshire. Christie returns to the main stage after being relegated to the undercard debate the last time. Candidates qualified if they achieved an average of 3.5 percent in national polls conducted since late October, or four percent in either Iowa or New Hampshire.

Those in the undercard debate in Las Vegas include George Pataki, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Lindsey Graham.

The undercard debate will air on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and the main debate will take place at 9 p.m.

Watch the video to see how the candidates will be positioned on the stage:

Way to many of them. They need to get rid of Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina! Waste of time because they will never be elected.

Why does Trump the Chump get center stage?

Why does Trump the Chump get center stage?

Good hair?

It's the numbers. Trump is both the most liked, and the most despised.

Hillary is a similar phenomenon. Jeb is just despised.

I almost feel sorry for Cruz, because he's between Trump and Jeb!.

How does my commie candidate, Bernie, stack up?

Bernie Sanders is the Most Popular Senator in America

There's a chart there of all 100 Senators, approval and disapproval. Bernie is 83/13 among the morons in the part of Vermont that voted for him (his constituents).

A poll of what people think of him nationwide would be a lot more useful. So that poll is not a real indication of what the average joe actually thinks of him.

Then entire state of Vermont registered voters vote for or against him, you dolt.

Thanks for the linked item.

I'd rather they kept Huck than Bush or Kasich. Or maybe Rand Paul even.

Christie should have been kept at the junior table but he is running a distant second in NH so letting him back on the main stage is CNN's smart move. It may be that Christie did better by having more quality time in that last junior debate.

There are two Senators per State, and you only get to vote for one, maroon. A senatorial district covers half of the State.

Need to check Bernie's birth certificate to see if he's an illegal alien Canuck, like Ted Cruz. If he's got a green card it's OK for a Senator, but not for president.

Him and Rubio are the most polished candidates. Both have retail political talent. Rubio is a smooth politico, Christie is a closer and puncher as you'd expect a prosecutor to be.

If I were to bet on who could land a hard punch on Trump's jaw and make him stagger, I'd bet on Christie. He does have quite a mouth on him and he's willing to take a chance to win big.

Being a liar like Rubio doesn't make you smooth. It just makes you a liar. Nothing smooth about Rubio. Nothing charismatic about him.

I don't like Christie. But I will admit that he is "well oiled" as Fred put it.

Or if you have fire making skills. You cold teach me that.

Or maybe how to skin a buffalo. Nevermind about the buffalo there are none around here.

Go to the average bar or average church. Ask five women what they think of Rubio. And don't argue, just let them answer.

You might be surprised.

My mom likes Rubio. But she isn't voting for him. She is voting for Trump.

She would vote for him if he won the nomination.

My dad likes Rubio. He isn't settled on him I don't think. He also likes some others. He too would vote for Trump. Trump isn't his first choice at the moment. He was until he what he said about McCain. Not that my dad likes McCain. He doesn't.
